Tre Cool's Retirement Age Job, chapter 2

As we talked, kids started to fill the band room. They were looking at us when they walked past us.
"I think they're gonna start now. That's Vivian, the girl with the thick book. She's the band major. Anyway, I'm the drum major," Pete said, smiling and pointing at a girl who looked somehow arrogant.
"Oh great, dude," I replied.
"Band, please gather here," Vivian said.
The kids started to go to the front side of the room while Vivian started to take their attendance.
After that, she stood up. "Okay. Today we have our new percussion instructor, Mr. Frank Edwin Wright III. Please give him a warm welcome," she said.
What the hell is that girl talking about? Frank Edwin yadda.. The name sucks.
I stood up and smiled at them. They applauded and stared at me.
"Okay, now, go for sectionals. Be back here at five thirty," Vivian said. She walked out from the room, followed by most of the students, leaving only about ten people behind.
"Tre, this is the percussionists. These two are the new ones, they're amateurs," Pete said, winks at the two students. "I'm going to teach them while you instruct the others. The others have been in band for at least one year, so they're good enough."
"I see. Hey, people. Uh, ignore what that girl said. My name's not Frank Edwin blah blah. Call me Tre. Or Mr. Tre Cool," I said.
"You're from Green Day," a girl said. This girl was completely different from Vivian. She had at least four piercing, one on the nose, one small black tattoo on her middle finger and her hair was highlighted.
I nodded. "Yeah. Well, I don't know your names, so, can you please introduce yourselves?"
That girl stood up and introduced herself.
"My name's Estrelle. I'm from Sec 304 and I love your band," she said, grinning at me.
I nodded. A nerdy-looking guy stood up. "I'm Wenquan from 211."
"I'm Lizhen from 402. I like Green Day," a girl introduced herself.
The introduction goes and goes. I'm quite impressed, seeing that lots of people still know Green Day, even though we're like forty years old.
Pete had gone someplace else to teach the juniors. The other people were not as friendly as Pete, well maybe they were too shy, I don't know.
"So, what do you guys usually do?" I asked them.
As I sort of expected, Estrelle answered. "We play our upcoming concert songs. Right now, we have around eight songs to play at our concert. Our band concert will be held four months for now."
"Great. Can I see the scores?" I asked her.
"Sure, Tre." She went to take the scores. I went to take my reading glasses. At the age of 64, you must know that people's eyesight is poor.
When I came back, Estrelle was back with the scores. I went to the scores. They looked pretty interesting, you know.
"So, which one you want to play first?" I asked.
"Seventh night!" a girl called Karen shouted.
"No! Persis!" Wenquan shouted.
"Green Day songs!" Estrelle chimed in.
I quickly got a headache. "Cut it out! I have heard Persis before. It sounds very nice and I like the timpani parts. So, maybe we try Persis? You guys go and play first, I listen."
They went to their own instruments while I sat on a chair and watched them.
