What did you just say?, chapter 1
I was packing all of my stuff into suitcases. I didn't want to leave Minnesota, it's my home, well, was my home. Hi! I'm Ingrid Jennifer Roberts and I'm 16 years old. I have green eyes and blonde hair. My favourite band is Green Day. I've loved them ever since I was about 6 months old, when I first understood anything. I have tons of posters of Green Day but by far my favourite member was Billie Joe.
I was moving to Oakland, California with my bitchy mother.
"Hurry up and pack your shit up! We're already late!" she yelled up the stairs. The movers already packed up the furniture and had already left.
"Coming Mom!" I yelled down the stairs.
The stuff was hard to carry down the stairs so I just threw all of it down the stairs. In it were some clothes and all of my possessions. I held my guitar case tight. I shoved all of my stuff in the trunk, except for my guitar, walkman and CDs, closed the trunk and hopped into the car.
About three hours passed and I was exhausted so I lay my head on the back of the seat and slowly fell asleep. I woke up and we were slowing down in front of a large house. It was about 10 the next morning. 'I didn't know Mom could afford this place' I thought. Mom stopped the car in front of the house and turned the ignition off. We opened the trunk and took out all of the bags that were in it. Mom unlocked the door and wandered inside. All of our furniture was in the huge house.
"Holy fuck..." I said to myself. I walked up to what I thought must be my room. It had my bed in it and my dresser drawers. My computer, desk, chair, all the furniture that was mine was in it.

"Hey Dad! We have some new neighbours that've just moved in next door. I'm gonna go greet them, okay?" I yelled.
"Okay Joey!" dad yelled back down the stairs. I walked outside and knocked on their door. A girl answered who looked about my age.
"Hello?" she asked.
"Hi. I'm Joey, I live right next door to you," I said.
"Oh hi! It's nice to meet you. I'm Ingrid." I shook her hand.
"I was just wondering if you needed any help unpacking?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure! Come on in!" she led me into this huge place that looked similar to ours.
"So, do you want me to show you my room? I've got shitloads to unpack there."
"Sure, okay!" And I followed her up the stairs to her room. She was right. There was shitloads to unpack. She grabbed a pile of posters and started pinning them up. I noticed that one was of Green Day.
"So...you like Green Day, huh?" I asked.
"Like them? I worship them! They are my idols. Do you know them?" she asked politely.
"Uh, maybe." I didn't want to give away the fact that Billie Joe was my dad.
"You sure do look a lot like Billie Joe though."
"Yeah, I get said that a lot."
After a long and awkward silence, she finally asked, "How old are you, Joey? Don't mean to be rude or anything but you don't have to answer that if you don't want to."
"That's okay. I turned 16 in February. And you?"
"Hey, Me too! I turned 16 in March though."
We talked about ourselves for about two hours while we finished unpacking all of her stuff and set her room up.
After the packing was done, I said bye and walked home.

After Joey left, I was playing my guitar. Suddenly, the doorbell rang and I heard talking and laughing.
"Ingrid! Get off that guitar, come down here and meet our new neighbours!" mom yelled up the stairs.
"Coming Mom!" and then I raced down the stairs. When I saw who our neighbours were, I was in shock. Complete and utter shock...
