Kiss The Demons Out Of My Dreams, chapter 10

‘Steph sit down’, he told her almost like an order. She did so and helped him down as well. An elderly lady pushed the emergency button inside and talked over the speaker to a man in maintenance.
‘Yes ma’m, we will have you all out of there as soon as possible. Please just stay calm we will be there soon’, he said putting his side of the receiver down.

-An hour later-

‘Billie, I don’t wanna be here’, Steph said quietly crawling into him just a little more.
‘I know. Just relax’, he told her, putting an arm around her.
‘Billie how can I relax knowing I’m stuck between two floors in a lift?’, she asked him. He looked down at her and sighed, stroking her cheek with his hand gently.
‘Just trust me we’re going to be fine’, he told her, making her rest her head down on his shoulder. She closed her eyes and tried to relax as best she could, but there was no use. She couldn’t do so knowing that they were being suspended in the air by a few cables.

-An Hour and a half later-

‘Billie, its been an hour, we’re not getting out of here’, she said, with a whimper.
‘We will its alright, just, its alright. We’re not alone. Its fine’, he told her kissing her gently. She hugged him tightly not caring what the people around them thought.
‘I’m glad you’re here’, she told him, kissing him back. She ran her fingers through his hair, kissing him every few seconds, while whispering to him how she wanted him to stay.
‘Babe I won’t leave you, trust me. Please just trust me’, he said to her, putting his finger on her lips to stop her from saying anymore, ‘Just trust me. Everything will be fine’.

-2 hours later-

‘Billie, I don’t wanna be here, we’re going to die’, she snivelled. Billie put his arms around her and rested their heads together so that they were looking into eachothers eyes. The old ladies on the lift seemed to be chatting amongst themselves.
‘We are not going to die okay. I am not going to leave you. We’re going to be fine. Just trust me’, he told her, trying not to let the hours of them waiting here bore them both.
‘I just......i wanna be home, with Mike and Tre. Where we should be’, she cried, letting her tears run onto him. He held her even closer and moved to the corner so that they could lay down in peace.
‘I know you do, we’ll get there soon, I promise’, he told her wiping her eyes dry. Steph rested down in his lap and put herself to sleep, mumbling about how the knife would have been good around about now.

-4 hours later-

‘Steph wake up I can hear something’, Billie Joe said, shaking the sleeping girl. Steph opened one eye and looked up at him, trying to hear the sound. The ladies there with them to stopped to listen. It sounded like someone working on the chains above them.
‘Oh thank the lord we are saved’, one of them let out. Steph let out a smile before she curled back up to Billie Joe.
‘You were right. You promised and I can trust you’, she said, leaning back onto him. He played with her hair again to keep her relaxed while they sat in hope to be leaving this hanging cage soon.

-Several Hours later-

‘Billie, that noise didn’t sound right’, Steph let out after they heard a snapping noise coming from above them. Billie kept himself calm as he knew if he started worrying, Steph would feel it and panic as well.
‘BILLIE’, Steph screamed as they felt the lift tip to one side, the group of them slide down to the other half.
‘Steph it’s alright, relax please’, he coaxed her, but it was no use she was tears already.
‘Billie, we’re gonna die, we’re gonna die’, Steph repeated closing her eyes. She held onto him tightly like a lost child searching for her mother.
‘Steph its alright’, Billie managed to say before he had to eat his words as another chain snapped above them. Steph cried harder and harder into him, wishing out aloud they weren’t in this situation. The elderly ladies started to panic as well. Billie put his hands on Steph’s face and made her look at him.
‘Steph, it’s going to be alright. Those snaps aren’t all bad, just trust me. We’ll make it’, he told her kissing her as if it would be the last kiss he would ever give her. They broke off and looked into eachothers eyes searching through them trying to find answers they didn’t have.

‘Billie I love...’, we the only words Steph could get out before they heard the fourth and final snap of cable from above them.
