Kiss The Demons Out Of My Dreams, chapter 2

‘Yeah, sure I guess’, she said, turning herself over so that she lay on her back comfortably. The figure came in and shut the door behind them, walking over to the bed. Steph leaned over and switched her bedside lamp on which filtered just enough light to see who the person was, but not to look as if the normal light was on.
‘Can I talk to you?’, Tre asked, kneeling down beside her on the floor. Steph rubbed her eyes. Why would Tre want to talk to her now she thought? She moved a little over in her bed and let him sit up beside her.
‘Tre are you alright? What do you wanna talk about?’, she asked him, worryingly. She hated it when people just came up to her and asked if ‘they could talk’. It made her worry that she had done something wrong, and she never knew exactly what though.

‘I just wanna say thanks for before’, he told her, smiling half-heartedly. Steph sat up a little more and smiled.
‘It’s alright. It was nice being with you for a while’, she told him, trying to make eye contact with him. He kept his head down and his eyes to the ground as he knew she was trying to do so.
‘No I mean, you know, like, ‘he paused for a moment searching for the right words, ‘It brought my sanity back for a while’, he told her smiling properly this time. Steph rubbed his back softly just like she use to, to show him everything was alright. He put his legs up on her bed and rested up against the head frame.
‘You know when I told you I missed you before, I meant it’, he told her in a serious but quiet tone.
‘Yeah I know’, she replied to him, ‘Tre I’m sorry about the fight we had before you and Ash left. I feel so bad for it’, she told him apologetically. He put and arm around her and she rested her head down on his shoulder.
‘No I’m sorry’, he told her, holding her in a little closer, but not to close, ‘I shouldn’t have done that to you. Especially with your sister’, he told her as he started to play with her hair, just like he always did, just after they made up from a fight.
‘It’s alright. Now that I know you really love her, I guess I’m cool with it’, she told him breaking away from him as she knew how this was going to end if she wasn’t careful. Tre flicked his eyes around the room and slowly got up again.
‘Yeah I just wanted to tell you I was sorry’, he mumbled out slowly, rubbing the back of his neck before he reached down for his pocket. He pulled out a letter, and handed it over to her.
‘You might wanna like read that sometime. Like in a while maybe not too soon’, he told her before he made his way to the door.

‘Tre’, Steph called before he left the room. He turned around and looked at her letting his blue eyes almost pierce through her.
‘Yes?’, he asked her questionally.
‘Goodnight’, she said sweetly smiling at him for a moment. Tre smiled back and let his eyes fall back down to the ground before he left the room, closing the door behind himself. Steph felt the letter that was in her hands. It was only thin. Thank god she didn’t exactly feel like reading something long. She pulled open a draw and placed it under one of her cd’s she had, before she flicked her light off again and tried to fall asleep. This time though she was kept away by the sound of her mobile going off like crazy. The lights flashed and her ring-tone went off as loud as ever. She rolled over trying to find it, but ended up rolling onto it.
‘Ouch, damn phone’, she let out, as she picked it up from underneath her. She had a look to see who was calling her. It was Billie-Joe’s older brother Matt. Well at least the number was his.
‘Why would he call me and not talk from his window?’, she wondered. She pulled the covers over herself before she answered the call so on-one could here her talking.

‘Hello?’, she said quietly. She turned the light off so that it didn’t shine through her covers while she spoke.
‘Steph, is that you?’, the voice asked between irregular breaths.
‘Yeah it’s me. Who’s this?’, she asked, wondering why it sounded like the person on the other line was crying. She let them let a few more tears out before the continued speaking.
‘It’s Billie. I’m using Matt’s phone, mines like dead’, he told her, continuing to sniffle.
‘Billie are you alright?’, she asked troublingly, as she wondered why he would be crying.
‘Ah, yeah I guess. Could I talk to you by the pool in like 5 minutes?’, he asked her.
‘Sure, I’ll see you there’, she told him about to hang up. Before she did though he blew a kiss through the phone and told her that he loved her. Steph slowly made her way up and out of her room grabbing a hoddie and putting her slippers on. She didn’t bother turning on any lights. The light from Mike watching TV was enough to guide her down the stairs and out to the backyard. She slowly made her way across the yard to the pool gate before she let herself in, to sit and wait for what seemed like ages.

-The Pool Side-

‘Steph’, Billie said, as he came and stood beside her.
‘Hey’, she said tiredly. She looked up at him hoping for this to be worth her getting up and waiting out here.
‘Billie, have you been crying?’, she asked getting up. She put her hands on his shoulders and tried to look in to his eyes, but he dropped them down so that she couldn’t. Instead of answering her, he gave her a hug instead pulling her in as close as he could.
‘Mum and Brad are getting married, early next February’, he told her closing his eyes to stop tears from running. His tear stained eyes lit in the darkness when he opened them again.
‘Awe, aren’t you happy for your mum?’, she asked him rubbing his back up and down.
‘Yeah, but not to get married to that jerk. I’ve tried to tell her so many times that he’s not the right one and well it just seems to never work’, he said, pulling away from her and sitting down by the pool side.
‘Maybe she feels its right though’, Steph suggested, ‘You always told me that if your mum decided to re-marry that you’d be happy for her’, she finished sitting down beside him. Billie lost all thought about what they were speaking about and looked over to her and smiled sweetly.
‘You look cute. I never knew you still liked Scooby-Doo’, he told her, looking at her pyjama pants. She smiled shyly, and forgot for a moment what she was wearing. She looked over into the water. It seemed so calm, so pleasant, so inviting. She took her hoddie off and slipped off the slippers.
‘Where you going?’, Billie asked her. She looked over at the water.
‘At this time of night?’, he asked her, rasing both eyebrows.
‘Yeah, come on it’s a hot summer’s night. Join me’, she offered him, getting in slowly. The water was just like she expected. Cold, but nice enough to handle for this time of the night.
‘Well come on’, she said, duck diving under for a moment. Billie-Joe untied his shoes and pulled off his socks before he too joined her. The pair floated around for a while, before the started to talk again.

‘So who was that person in your bedroom before?’, Billie asked her, cornering her up against the edge. Steph put her arms up around him.
‘Just Mike checking up on me’, she told him, kissing him gently. She ran her fingers through his wet hair and styled it back up for him.
‘Okay then’, he replied making the kiss continue as he ran his hands up and down her sides. Steph pulled at his belt and brought him in closer keeping her fingers trapped underneath.
‘I know I’ve already asked you, but do you wanna stay or are you going back over the fence?’, she asked him, wanting him to say yes, even more now than before.
‘Like I said I’ll be with you all of tomorrow. I just have to make sure my mum doesn’t get hurt tonight’, he told her, kissing the side of her neck. The two stayed there in eachothers arms for a moment longer before they both decided to jump out.
‘Are you alright going home like that, or do you wanna change?’, she asked him, looking at how drenched his clothing was.
‘No its alright’, he told her picking up her hoodie and handing it to her, ‘Put this on, you might catch a cold’, he warned her. Steph did so, and gave him another hug before they were about to part one another.

‘Take care of yourself and your mum alright’, she told him, looking into his eyes deeply.
‘I will, you take care of yourself’, he told her smiling. The two gently kissed again for the last time that night before they parted. Billie-Joe making his way to jump the fence and Steph making her way back to the house. She slowly trudged up the stairs and made her way to her bedroom all wet and covered in chlorine.
She quickly got changed into something dry and put herself back in her bed, pulling the covers over once more.
‘Perhaps I should read that letter?’, she though to herself. She looked at the time on her radio. [1.03 am]. Instead of pulling it out from under her cd in her draw she decided to leave it for another day. She quickly made herself comfortable before she was awoken by a loud and clear gun shot that frightened her to stay where she was...
