Kiss The Demons Out Of My Dreams, chapter 4
‘Mike where the hell, did mum hide her jewellery?’, Steph screamed from her bedroom, trying to find where their mother kept all her silver and diamonds.
‘Why do you want it?’, he asked from her door. He looked down at her as she madly searched the room for what she thought held the jewellery. A small green box her mother kept.
‘You don’t need any jewellery, you look fine the way you are’, he told her, putting out a hand to help her get up. Steph took the offer but stopped herself when she noticed the letter Tre had given her, start to fall out of her dress where she had hidden it.
‘What’s that?’, Mike asked, reaching for it. Steph pushed it back into its hiding position.
‘Nothing’, she said bluntly, looking at her brother. He raised an eyebrow at her and let the matter breeze off. They stood in silence for a while really not knowing what to say to one another. It was strange how family acted like this.
‘So, is Irene ready?’, she asked him, looking at him from head to toe. Her brother always managed to look good. Same as her sister, she wondered why she couldn’t have that easy.
‘Ahh, yeah she’s waiting in the limo out front. We’re just waiting for Tre to finish in the bathroom’, Mike told her, turning to walk for the door. He checked down the hallway to see if Tre was ready.
‘He might be awhile. I could tell him, for you since I’m going that way myself’, Steph offered, brushing down her dress quickly. The black and purple materials used seem to glitter when she walked under light.
‘Yeah, that be nice’, Mike told her smiling, ‘You, know I’m not just saying this cos you’re my sister but, you look really nice tonight’, he said, shocked at his own words. His sister smiled and pushed her hair back behind her.
‘Thanks Mikey’, Steph said shyly, bitting her lip. She was going to say something back, but she was saved by the car horn. Mike rolled his eyes and let out a sigh.
‘Tre would you hurry up’, he yelled out, before he smiled at Steph once more.
‘Yeah, nearly ready Mike, hold your horses’, Tre screamed from the bathroom in a hurry. Mike rolled his eyes again. Steph laughed at the fact and told Mike he could go, and that she would have Tre outside in a minute. She walked down to the bathroom as Mike made his way back outside.
-The bathroom-
‘Tre, their waiting for you’, she said quietly from the door. She could hear Tre moving around inside.
‘Tre, come on, I have to use the bathroom’, she said, hoping her fake plea would get him out of there. Still Tre remained inside with the door locked.
‘Tre come on’, she yelled for the 3rd time, trying to open the door furiously. The door unlocked but remained closed for a minute. Steph pushed it open, the same time Tre was making his way out.
‘Wow’, Tre managed to mumble.
‘You’, Steph let out hesitantly.
‘Look great’, the said together, not realizing the other one was talking. They both blushed hard, as they looked at eachother, remaining in silence. Tre rubbed the back of his neck anxiously.
‘So have you read that......’, he said being cut off.
‘Not yet. I will though’, she told him, ‘Once I get into the bathroom’, she finished smiling at him. She could feel the paper against her skin as she spoke about it. It was almost like it was trying to haunt her.
‘Sweet’, he told her leaving to walk past her. They turned side on as they walked through the door, stopping as they met head on. Tre put his head down and gave her a peck gently on the cheek before he picked up his blazer which was hanging on the door handle and walked out to the limo waiting for them.
Steph waited until she heard the front door close before she locked herself in the bathroom to read the letter or note which he had given her a few days ago.
.......The last 6 months with out you have been constant torture to my mind. It seems like everything around me reminds me somehow of you. I hate the way you do this to me. You’re like a scar that won’t fade away. Its like you want to stay with me forever, but in reality it’s I who needs that scar to stay. The day I left for the bay, my heart broke into a million pieces. I felt like you were killing me, but what was actually killing me was seeing the girl I loved in the arms of someone else. Someone I trusted. Someone I couldn’t imagine you with. Even though I know the way you feel about me now, it only seemed right to tell you the way that I felt about you. The way that I still feel. The way you drive me insane. At night I’d lay awake, thinking of you. I’d think of your eyes, your hair, your smile, your touch. I would think of the way it all used to be. I would think of your lips__against mine, hoping that the tender touch would last, but it turned out that all this thinking was only a dream. A dream that I wanted to come true.............
‘Steph are you in there?’, a voice asked while knocking on the bathroom door. Steph folded up the paper and tucked it back into her dress.
‘Yeah come on in’, she said, fixing the outfit. Billie pushed open the bathroom door and stepped inside.
‘Wow, Steph you look’, he let out letting his eyes travel around her. They set back staring straight into hers.
‘Billie you’re’, she said, letting her eyes do the same thing. The two looked at eachother and let out a small laugh. Billie let his eyes, travel down to the ground, as he fiddled with his belt and took a deep breath in.
‘You ready to leave, the limo’s waiting out front for us’, he asked her, not being able to keep eye contact with her. She walked up to him, and lifted his chin up with the tips of her fingers making his eyes stare straight back into her own.
‘Yeah, I’m ready’, she told him, taking his hand as she checked her make up in the mirror for the last time, before they walked outside to the front.
‘Wow, fancy’, she let out, hoping in the backseat.
‘Aint it mad?’, Billie asked her, closing the door behind them. Steph quickly turned around and cuddled into him giving him a shower of small delicate kisses before she looked deeply into his eyes.
‘I love you’, she whispered, into his ear kissing him gently where ever she could reach. He stopped her, closed her eyes and kissed her back gently like an angel.
‘I love you too my princess’, he said quietly, holding her in closely to his chest, so that she could hear his heart beating as they were driven down to their destination.
-At Formal-
‘Oh come on, just one dance’, Billie told her enthusiastically, trying to pull her onto the floor.
‘Billie, later please’, she begged him, concreting herself to the ground. He continued to ask her over and over, gently pulling her to the floor.
‘Please, just a quick first dance and then we wont dance again all night’, he told her trying to sound convincing. She looked up at him and smiled cheekily.
‘Since when have you wanted to dance so badly?’, she asked him wondering where this was coming from. He looked at her and bit his lip cutely.
‘No it’s just; there are a lot of people on the floor. So like no one will notice me’, he told her persuasively getting her to walk out to the floor. He took her hand in his own, brought her into him and slowly danced with her, leading her through-out the song. Steph rested her head on his chest, and they danced leisurely together as the music pace decreased dramatically making it soft and slow.
‘You look so beautiful tonight. Just like a princess’, he told her, putting his arm a little lower down her back.
‘And you’re like my very own prince charming’, she told him, letting her arms drop down to around his waist. She let her hands creep up under his jacket and play around with the back of his shirt. Billie brought her in even closer, letting her close her eyes as he continued to lead her around the floor slowly.
‘Billie, I’m gonna get a drink, you want something’, she asked opening her eyes, slowly. He looked down at her and kissed her on the forehead.
‘No, I don’t, just’, he told her looking down at her, ‘Make sure you meet me back at the table’, he said casually, letting go of her. Steph walked over to the bar and ordered what she wanted. As she was waiting there nonchalantly she felt an arm take hold of her.
‘Come with me’, the voice ordered..
