Kiss The Demons Out Of My Dreams, chapter 5
It had been an hour since Steph had left Billie to go for a drink. He carefully searched the room with his eyes wondering where she had gotten to. Without seeing her anywhere he got up and walked around, bumping into Tre on the way.
‘Hey buddy have you seen Steph anywhere?’, he asked letting his eyes still search the room.
‘No I haven’t Bill, why?’, Tre asked with a worried tone in his voice. He to had been looking for her to ask her wether or not she had read what he had given to her. Billie let his head drop down and he shuffled his feet a little.
‘Do you want me to help you look for her?’, Tre offered. Billie’s eyes lightened up and the two boys went off searching for the missing girl.
They checked everywhere that security would let them walk into. The lobby was out of bounds and so was the kitchen area of the hotel. They tried to enter the pent-house but had the same trouble.
‘Maybe we should check room-by-room?’, Billie suggested, knocking on the first door that was infront of him. No one answered.
‘Of course’, he thought. The whole hotel had been booked out for their formal and rooms 416-421 had been used as ‘chill out rooms’. The two boys made there way down to them, Tre standing at door 421 and Billie at door 416.
‘You search that one, and I’ll do this one and we’ll work up to the middle’, Billie instructed Tre. He forced the door open and walked in. He flicked the light switch on and saw that the room was empty. Tre did the same and moved to the next door.
‘BILLIE’, Tre called from the second room, ‘BILLIE’. Billie made his way quickly into where Tre was. The lights had been turned on so obviously Tre had stumbled across something. Billie gulped and hoped for it not to be the worst. He walked down past the front room into the last room which had the light on. He heard the sound of sniffling drowning out the room.
‘Steph’, he said softly as he walked in to see the girl, tightly curled up in Tre’s arms.
‘Billie’, she cried, reaching out for him. He walked over to her and took her from Tre’s arms, letting her tears flow onto his shoulder. He held her securely not letting go until she calmed down and started breathing constant again.
‘Babe what’s wrong?’, he asked her, feeling her touch move up him slowly. She continuously cried into him, as Tre went to the front of the suite and closed the door, to make sure no one else entered.
‘Billie, I’m so sorry’, she cried, as more and more tears ran from her eyes, ‘Billie let me sit down, I can’t stand it hurts too much’, she told him. Billie did as she wanted and let her calmly sit back down on the bed where Tre had found her. Tre made his way back into the room and sat on the otherside of her.
‘Steph, tell us what happened’, he said to her coaxingly trying to find out what happened. She let one arm down from Billie and put it behind her taking a hold of Tre’s hand. She grasped it firmly as she continuously let her tears run onto Billie. She explained to them what happened. She explained to them how she had been hurt. She explained as well as she could the pain she felt before when she stood up with Billie.
They decide to take her down to the docs straight away, to make sure she was alright. They didn’t bother searching to the others to tell them of their plans. They could contact them by phone afterwards. Billie checked the hallway to make sure it was clear, while Tre carefully carried the crying girl down to the car park, to get her to the medical practitioner immediately.
-At the Doctors-
‘I’m sorry, but we’ll have to see her alone’, the doctor told the two boys who were waiting hesitantly with Steph. They looked at eachother and back at the doc.
‘You can’t be serious’, Billie let out.
‘We’re practically as close as family to this girl’, Tre told him, as a nurse came and walked Steph away to the office so that she was alone. The doctor looked at them and understood how they were feeling.
‘I’m sorry boys, but she’ll have to be checked alone. We’ll come and tell you any results as soon as we get them’, he informed them turning on his heal as he walked back to his office.
‘I can’t believe it’, Billie said, slouching into a chair in the waiting room. Tre sat down beside him and talked to him reassuring him that everything was going to be alright.
‘Billie, come on man, you’ve done all you can. Don’t beat yourself up about it’, Tre told him, putting a hand on his friends shoulder. Billie looked up at him and let his head rest in the palm of his hand. His eyes turned green with anger and his cheeks back redder than usual.
‘No Tre I......I should have gone with her’, Billie let out tentatively. He banged his wrist against the arm-rest and got up. Tre followed him to make sure he didn’t do anything stupid. The two boys walked over the doctors’ office door and put their ears up to it, trying to catch any conversation.
‘It looks as if, young miss you’ve been hurt so badly’, the doctor told Steph patiently, ‘That you wont be able to have children when you’re older’. They heard the sound of Steph’s soft sniffle come after the news was told to her.
‘Hurt so bad’, Billie said.
‘Not able to have children?’, Tre lead on, as the two boys looked at eachother in horror...
