Kiss The Demons Out Of My Dreams, chapter 9

‘Steph he wanted to see you’, Mike said repeating himself to his sister as they walked into the house.
‘Mike, I know......it’s just’, Steph said, stopping herself from saying anymore. She walked herself to her room, letting Mike lead Tre to his. She lay down on her bed and cried her self to sleep thinking about what had happened over the last few days.

-2 Weeks Later-

‘Steph go talk to him’, Mike said, trying to convince his sister to talk to her boyfriend.
‘No, if he wants to talk, he can come to me’, she said, keeping her defence. They looked at eachother with an affect like hatred in their eyes.
‘Come on, he’s your boyfriend. You can’t never talk to him again’, he told her in a sarcastic tone. She looked up at him again, and got up from her bed.
‘Don’t tell me what I can and can’t do’, she said, walking herself out of the house. Mike watched her, before he walked out to where Billie Joe was.

‘Did she say anything?’, Billie asked from where he sat. Tre was sitting across from him. The two boys had ended all their disputes between eachother, and were fine with everything now.
‘No, she just said what she usually says’, Mike told them, slumping into a chair himself. He rubbed the back of his neck and changed the channel on the TV.
‘Do you think its cos of, you know..’, Billie asked him. Mike didn’t bother answering him. Billie kept to himself for a while, noticing how almost bring up Mike’s parents had an instant affect on him. He told Tre he was going to go searching for Steph and he left the house without another word.

‘Mike, you alright buddy?’, Tre asked to break the ice. Mike looked up at him, with weary eyes.
‘Yeah’, he mumbled rubbing them, ‘its just I don’t know how she’s gonna handle it again’, he finished. Tre knew Mike was talking about Steph. It had been 6 years since their parents had died. Ash had taken her time out and gone to a friends place. She did this around the same time every-year.
‘Alright’, Tre said ending the conversation to leave Mike to his own thoughts.

-An Hour later with Billie Joe-

Billie started to make his way down to the beach. This he thought was the only place he could have to be alone with his thoughts for a while. Time to ponder of what had happened, and how he could think about everything he wanted to happen. He walked down to the shore and sat himself down just before the tide could reach him. He stared out over the water into the distance. His eyes constantly flicking over to a figure sitting a few dozen feet away from him. He looked on as the figure sat there, in total black, almost like they were there to block out everything in the world. He notice them take out what looked like a knife, and how they pondered over it while holding it up infront of them. The figure stood up and walking in the distance towards him, keeping the knife in their grip.
‘Billie Joe?’, the figure said, taking their hood off.
‘Steph?’, he spat out, his eyes not coming off the knife.
‘What are you doing here?’, she asked coldly. She flicked the knife behind her back.
‘What are you doing with that?’, he asked, standing up. They looked at eachother face to face.
‘Nothing. Why?’, she asked rolling her eyes, as she watched him try to take it off of her.
‘Give it over then’, he said, putting his hand out.
‘No I might just keep it’, she told him, putting it into her pocket. He watched her wondering what she was going to do next. The two stood in silence for a while before Billie made up and excuse to start a conversation with her.

‘I thought you were home with Mike and Tre?’, he said, keeping his eyes on her pocket.
‘That’s where I thought you were’, she answered back, trying to figure out what he was looking at.
‘You thinking about your folks?’, he asked her, knowing what her answer was going to be.
She nodded and shuffled her feet a little in a nervous manner. With out thinking, Billie put his arms around her, comforting her as if nothing was between them and everything had been sorted out.

‘Billie, why’d they both have to leave? It’s not fair’, she said, starting to sniffle. She wrapped her arms around him a little more tightly letting herself rest into him.
‘I know its not. Fate just took its tole on them’, he told her, starting to stoke her hair. He played with the ends as he usually did. Steph made sure not to hug too tightly as she could see where his stitches and bandages were. Billie lifted her head up so that he could talk to her with eye contact.
‘I’m sorry’, he told her, not really sure why he was apologising. Firstly he thought it was guilt, but then again it just felt right to say something like that at this time.
‘Don’t be’, she said, burying her face into him. At this point they both knew everything was alright. Everything was back to normal. No words or affection was needed. Just the simple actions between eachother had made everything fall back into place.

‘Come on, I have to go to the mall to collect something. Come with me’, Billie said, leading her away from the beach.
‘No I have to stay here’, she said taking the knife from her back pocket. Billie’s eyes widened with the thought of what she might contemplate doing next. Steph dropped the knife to the ground, and put her arms back around him.
‘Now we go’, she said, letting Billie lead her away across the beach to the roadside where they caught a taxi to the mall.

-The Mall-

‘Come on we’ll take the stairs, its only 3 floors up’, Steph explained walking him up to the first flight.
‘No come on the lift’, Billie said, eagerly pulling her away towards it. She reluctantly gave in and let him take her there. They stepped in a pressed the button to take them to floor 3. The doors closed on them, and the lift started moving taking them higher and higher. Suddenly the lights blacked out and the lift stopped dead in its tracks.

‘Billie Joe’, Steph managed to get out in a scarce tone, moving closer into him..
