An Angel's Voice, chapter 10

Tre stood there, looking dumbfounded. "That's it," Sara said shortly. "We're leaving. Now." She brushed past him.
Tre snapped out of it and ran up to her. "No! Don't leave. Please, Sara, I need you now."
She turned and looked at him. She spoke quietly. "Tre, you have a whole other life. And you just let it walk out the door. All because of me. Good bye." She got in her car and left.
Tre turned to Billie. "What did I do?" he asked quietly. Billie shook his head. Tre stared at the ground. Then he looked back up at Mike and Billie. "I've got to go. I'll be back later."
Billie threw his hands up in the air. "Why is everyone leaving?!" Mike shrugged and they went back into the hotel.

Tre drove to the nearest grocery store. He bought a bundle of flowers and chocolates and drove to St. Paul. He reached Sara's house and knocked on the door frantically. Jack answered the door. "Oh, hey Tre." Tre spoke quickly.
"Where is she?" he asked.
"Woah, hold your horses. She went to Hastings."
Tre gaped at him. "WHAT?! Why?" Jack shrugged.
"I dunno. She dropped Peter off and drove away. She said something about memories. I don't know," he trailed off.
"I'm gonna go find her," Tre said walking towords his car. Jack shrugged and gently closed the door.

He reached her house in Hastings. He jumped out of his car. He looked around the yard. She was out of sight. "Sara?" He called into the house. The front door was open. He invited himself in and made his way upstairs. He looked in her room. Nope. He looked in Joe's room. Not there, either. He looked in her parent's empty room. Where is she? He thought. He looked in thier closet and sighed deeply with relief. "Oh, there you are. The front door was open so I-" She looked up at him with a tear- stained face. "Woah, what's wrong?" he asked, sitting next to her.
"It smells like mom and dad," she sobbed. He held her tight.
"Why? Why did they leave? We were a perfect family. And they left. Why?" Tre looked at her with a kind expression.
"Because," he said softly. "Because they are absolutely crazy." She looked back at him with a puzzled face. "They left someone like you behind them. They left you out of their lives, that is the craziest thing anyone can do."
She smiled. "I guess they just decided that..." she began, but stopped and looked around the empty closet.
"That this wasn't the perfect family. And that's why the left us behind," Tre laughed.
"No. It was a perfect family," she laughed softly. "Yeah, well, if they do come back, I won't forgive them." She comprehended what she just said. She looked at Tre. "Should I?"
He laughed and kissed her nose. "That's for you to decide."
