An Angel's Voice, chapter 6
Jack went speeding up the dirt trail, Sara far ahead. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Tre shouted, sitting behind her. "I LIKE TO CALL IT SWEET, SWEET PROCRASTINATION!!" She had an ear to ear grin.
"OK, STOP THE FOUR WHEELER!" Sara looked at him horrified.
"WHAT? FUCK NO! THEN I HAVE TO GO BACK TO ST. PAUL!"
"STOP OR I'LL JUMP!" She came to a screeching hault.
He got off, followed by Sara.
"What the fuck? Now Jack's gonna catch us! Come ON, get back on!" Tre wouldn't budge.
"Not until we talk." Sara gaped at him.
"Talk about what, Tre? My parents left us here, which made my siblings and I go to different families. They ruined our lives. End of story. Now GET ON!" She started panicking.
"No." Tre's face was cold. Jack was coming closer.
"You know what? Fuck you. I'm out."
Too late.
Jack ran up to her and squeezed the brakes so she couldn't move.
"AUGH. TRE LOOK WHAT YOU DID! Jack come on, I don't want to go back to St. Paul."
Jack turned serious.
"We have to. Dad's gotta work tomorrow. You know he's trying so hard to keep this family together. Please?" Jack looked pleadingly at his step-sister.
"Fine." She said coldly. She looked at Tre.
"Are you happy now?" He got on and they sped back to the house.
"There you are. Come on." Arnie said, a little frustrated.
Sara silently threw her bags into the back of the truck and sat in the back, not speaking or looking at anyone. Billie went to the car and opened the door, followed by Mike and Tre.
"Hey, kiddo, hope to see you again soon." He said with a warm smile. Sara returned the smile and hugged him.
"Thank you guys so much." She moved on to Mike and hugged him. She ignored Tre and sat back in the car.
"Sara, come on now. You would have left sooner or later. Please don't be mad at me." Tre had sadness in his eyes and Sara saw that. But her face stayed cold. She shut the door on his face. He pounded on the door.
"GOD DAMN IT, SARA! IS IT MY FUCKING FAULT YOUR DUMB ASS PARENTS LEFT!?!" Sara froze. She got out of the car. She turned to him, looking hatred.
"I hate you. I FUCKING HATE YOU, YOU MOTHER FUCKER! HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT? GOD,TRE, ALL I DID WAS LOVE YOU GUYS AND I WANTED ALL MY LIFE TO MEET YOU AND...and..." She settled down and started crying.
Billie lifted her in the car, comforting her. He turned to Tre.
" That was cold man, really cold."
"What did I do?"
"What did you do?" Mike said looking at him disbelivingly.
"Did you just hear what you said to this poor girl? My god, Tre. Come on, Billie lets go back to the hotel."
Billie nodded and turned to Sara. He gave her a quick peck on the cheek. "Don't worry, kid, he didn't mean it. Although," He looked back at Tre, " He did have us all convinced." Tre stared at Billie, his mouth gaping open.
"OH, MY GOD!-"
"Tre, that's enough!" Mike stopped him.
"Get in the god damned car!" Tre got in the car, scowling. They all said their good-byes and Sara left for St. Paul.
