An Angel's Voice, chapter 8
Tre got in his car and made his way back to the hotel. He escaped the crowd and made it up to his room. He slammed the door and leaned against it, exhausted from running. Mike saw him and laughed.
"Those darned fans, they'll get you every time." Billie came in from watching television.
"Where've you been?" He asked coldly.
He was still mad at Tre.
Tre noticed and answered flatly, "I was out..."
Billie raised his eyebrows. "Care to explain?"
Tre thought about this. "I was out... fixing a problem."
Billie looked confused.
Then it came to him. "Oh, does this have anything to do with Sara?" Tre smiled.
"Maybe."
He went into the kitchen to make a sandwich. Billie followed.
"Well?"
Tre took a big bite out of his sandwich.
"Well what?" He asked with a mouth full of food.
Billie rolled his eyes. "Chew first, then swallow before you talk. So... is everything cool between you two?" Tre nodded.
Billie smiled. "Good. Glad to hear it. Friends?"
Tre looked at his guitarist and smiled. "Of course, dude."
Billie nodded and took Tre's sandwich out of his hands.
"HEY!" Tre screamed. Billie laughed and ran out of the room.
Sara finished wiping the tables and stood up to admire her work. She smiled with pleasure and threw off her apron and went out the door. She got in her Mustang and turned on the ignition. Her cell phone rang.
"H'lo?" She answered.
It was Kevin.
"Hey, cousin. I need a favour." She wrinkled her nose in confusion.
"What kind of favour?"
Kevin cleared his throat. "I need someone to baby-sit Peter. I have to work and I can't find anyone. Please?"
Sara laughed. "Kevin, of course I will. I'm meeting Tre at his hotel so just meet me there."
Kevin sighed with relief. "Ok, great. I'll meet you there in 20."
She gave him directions to the hotel and hung up.
Then she called Tre.
"Yellow?" Tre answered.
Sara laughed to herself.
"Hi Tre. It's me."
"Oh, hi. You on your way?" She stayed silent for a second before answering.
"Yeah, but I need to baby-sit Peter. You know. You met him at the coffee place. So I was thinking I could just bring him with. Is that ok?"
Tre laughed. "Oh, the little squirt. Yeah, that's fine."
Sara sighed. "Great. I'll be there in 20 minutes."
"'K. Bye." They hung up and made her way to the hotel.
She got there and saw Kevin with Peter in the parking lot.
"Hey, guys." Pete ran up to her and hugged her. She laughed and hugged back.
"Hi, Pete. What's up?"
Peter looked up at her and beamed at her. "Are we staying with Green Day?" She looked at Kevin who was smiling widely.
"Yeah, not for very long, I don't think. But, you never know. Maybe." Peter squealed with pleasure.
"He's all yours now. I'll come and pick him up tomorrow."
Kevin kissed her on the cheek and Pete and Sara made their way up to the hotel hand in hand.
They got in and made their way up the stairs. She pulled out the piece of paper Tre gave her.
"Suite 39." She looked down at Peter. He was still smiling.
They got to their room and there were two girls there, with their ears pressed against the door.
"What're you doing?" Peter asked, confused. They turned around.
"Green Day's in there." One of the girls said. "Something's going on in there." The other one said.
Sara knocked.
"We already tried, they won't let you in." Pete spoke up.
"Yes they will we're their friends." He stuck his tongue out at them.
They looked offended. Sara giggled.
"WHO THE FUCK IS IT NOW?" It was Billie.
Sara quickly covered Peter's ears. Just in time.
"It's me, Billie. And don't use that language around little kids."
Tre opened the door. "Oh, hi-"
The two girls barged in.
"OH MY GOD, YOU'RE TRE COOL!"
Tre laughed. "Why, yes I am. What can I do for you?"
They giggled. "YOU CAN LIKE FUCKING MARRY US! WE FUCKING LOVE YOU!" Sara rolled her eyes and went to find Billie.
With Peter in her hand, she went into the living room and found Billie and Mike watching TV.
"Hey, guys." Peter said, trying to act 'cool'. Billie laughed.
"What's happening, Pete, my main man?" Billie high-fived him.
"Not much, homie." Sara laughed along with Mike and Billie.
Pete smiled with pleasure. He liked being funny.
Tre finished with the two girls and joined the three and a half people in the living room. They were all holding their sides laughing while Pete stood in the middle, looking pleased with himself.
"What's so funny?" Tre asked, a little sorry he missed whatever Pete did.
"He... he... he was HALARIOUS!" Sara said, wiping her tears from laughing.
"Yeah, you... you should have... seen him." Billie said, still laughing.
Pete smiled at Tre.
"You want me to do it again?" He asked.
Tre nodded. Along with the other laughing trio. Peter took his stance; he held his hands up to his mouth and blew with all of his might. He made a HUGE farting noise with his hands. Tre, Billie, Mike and Sara all laughed hysterically. Peter nodded with pleasure.
"That's right." He told his laughing friends. "You can't beat the king of farts." That only made them laugh harder.
When the laughing died down, they all sat on the bed and talked about random things. Mostly music.
"Well, Pete. It's ten thirty. I think we should head back home."
"NO!" They all whined together.
"Yes." She whined back, sarcastically.
"Come on, Sara. You can sleep over. Right, guys?" Tre asked looking at Billie and Mike.
They nodded. Sara looked at Pete. "You up for it, Peter?" He nodded frantically.
"Ok. We'll stay." She laughed.
They all cheered. "Let's PARTY!" Tre said turning up the music.
"Those darned fans, they'll get you every time." Billie came in from watching television.
