'Cause Now I Know It's All That I Wanted, chapter 6

She smiled at me and fell asleep, she must be really tired. We arrived at Tre's house and I shook her awake. "India, sweets, wake up," she looked at me, her eyes were different now, multicolored, almost layered perfectly. One corner of my mouth twitched and she smiled at me and kissed my cheek. Before I turned off my car, she grabbed my hand, "wait, I love this song." I looked at the radio, it was Panic! At the Disco's "Build God, Then We'll Talk," it was catchy, that was for sure. India knew all the words and sang it perfectly.

It's these substandard motels on the lalalalala corner of 4th and Freemont Street.
Appealing only because they are just that un-appealing
Any practiced catholic would cross themselves upon entering.
The rooms have a hint of asbestos and maybe just a dash of formaldehyde,
And the habit of decomposing right before your very lalalala eyes.

Tonight tenants range from: a lawyer and a virgin
Accessorizing with a rosary tucked inside her lingerie
She's getting a job at the firm come Monday.
The Mrs. Will stay with the cheating attorney
Moonlighting aside, she really needs his money.
Oh, wonderful caricature of intimacy.

Yeah, Yeah

And not to mention, the constable, and his proposition, for that "virgin"
Yes, the one the lawyer met with on "strictly business"
As he said to the Mrs. Well, only hours before,
After he had left, she was fixing her face in a compact.
There was a terrible crash
Between her and the badge
She spilled her purse and her bag, and held a "purse" of a different kind.

There are no raindrops on roses and girls in white dresses.
It's sleeping with roaches and taking best guesses
At the shade of the sheets and before all the stains
And a few more of your least favorite things.

She sang her heart out, she did love this song, it was obvious. She was especially in the chorus. It was amazing the radio put a song with that meaning on there. India looked at me and smiled, I smiled back at her. Her eyes turned violet again and my heart was about to flutter away. (Corny, I know. ) She ran inside to Tre' and gave him a hug, "hey Dad," she said. He smiled at her and hugged her back, I loved how Tre' had found her again. I remembered when we were very very young, only about 14, and Tre' was 13, he had made a terrible mistake.

Flashback:

"You guys help me!" Tre' yelled out. We didn't know what to do, we were shocked. Tre's girlfriend had just called him and told him that she was pregnant. She was 2 years older then Tre' and a lot more mature, but they got drunk that night and forgot a very important thing (I think you know what I mean. ) Billie was usually the advice giver and I just relaxed but everyone was on edge and Tre' was stressed. He was so young, way too young to become a father. I remember Tre's girlfriend's face but I forgot her name!

India looked bored and waited for everyone to come over. The doorbell rang and Tre' answered, and there stood Jason White. India looked at Jason weirdly. "Dad? Who's that?" she asked with a very confused face. "Oh, this is Jason White," Tre' said. "Whatever," India said.

"You're nice!" Jason yelled out sarcastically.

"I haven't had my coffee yet!"

"So?"

"So you better be lucky I haven't tied you to a chair with duct tape and ropes already!"

"You couldn't do that!" he called back. Before you could say "Green Day" a blur came in and I blinked and Jason was tied with duct tape to a chair. "Wow, that's a record, I could only do that in 4 seconds," Tre' said. India grinned evilly and tore off the tape around Jason's mouth and Jason's howled.

"Wow Tre', she's been hanging around you too long!" Jason yelled. The doorbell rang again and India answered. Who else but Billie and Adrienne Armstrong came in, looked at Jason, and were already on their knees laughing. "Ok, I'm not even gonna wonder who did that since you're all capable," Adrienne said with tears rolling down her face. Tre' and I held up our hands back as if to say, 'no freaking way was it us. ' Jason yelled out something up India had already put the tape back on his mouth. "How fast did you do it?" Billie Joe asked. India shrugged so I answered for her, "about 2 seconds."

The doorbell ran again so Billie Joe got in and walked in Tre's girlfriend, Larissa. India looked at her and ran to her room. Everyone looked up the stairs and I also looked confused. "I'll go get her," I said. I walked into India's room with her crying in her pillow. "Princess, what's wrong?" I asked her. She looked up at me, eyeliner still smeared and wiped her tears off and threw her head down on the pillow. "India, I can't help you if you don't tell me," I said while closing the door so no one spied on us.

"That woman, she was one of my adoptive parents, it brought back memories, terrible memories," she said while she put her knees close to her face so she could cry on her jeans. "Oh my gosh India, that's terrible," I said, I sat on her bed and held her closely, protecting her body with mine. A rapping noise came from the door and in walked Billie Joe. "Dear India, what's wrong?" he asked her. She looked at Billie Joe and stood up and hugged him, I looked at them, they were already good friends, like siblings. "SSSH, we're here, we'll protect you," he comforted India while stroking her hair. She told Billie about Larissa and his eyes got as wide as his fists that were clenched, he knew about the abuse India had gotten. I saw something weird on India's backside. "Hey what's that?" I asked.

India looked at where I was looking at her back, she pointed at it and I nodded. "It's just part of my tattoo," she replied. "Just a part?" I asked, she nodded. She lifted up the back of her shirt and my eyes widened. The art was amazing, it was Green Day, one of our photos. Billie looked at her back also and gasped, it was one of the pictures were my face was really close to Billie Joe's and Tre' was looking into space. "Who drew it?" I asked. India paused and said, "I just printed it out."

The tattoo was amazing, it took up all of her back and our faces were incredibly detailed. Tre' came in with an angry face, probably wondering why India was showing her back to us but looked at the artwork and his eyes widened also. "How much did you pay to do this?" he asked. "It took me a year to save it all up," she simply said. Tre' walked out because he claimed he had to go to the bathroom. "Mike, I want to show you something," India said. I looked at her and she took off her shoes and showed me her right ankle, I grabbed and there was a tribal style of my name. "Wow, that's cool," I said. She nodded and showed Billie Joe her left ankle where it was the same style of his name. He laughed and asked, "where's Tre's name?" She lefted her sleeves up and it had Tre' Cool is Tre' Cool around her biceps. We both laughed at that one.

"Are you ready to come back downstairs now?" I asked India, she got really serious and nodded. "Your alright, don't talk to her, pay attention to me and Billie all right?" She looked like she was going to cry again so I kissed her roughly. She smiled and put her arms around my neck. "Mike?"

"Hmmm?"

"I love you." I looked at her and her violet eyes now a darker violet then ever.

"I love you too."

Billie Joe's P. O. V.

"Is everything all right?" Adrienne asked me worriedly. I could see her eyes full of worry, I nodded and she hugged me. "Thank gosh for that much," she whispered. "This is going to be one awkward night."

"You got that right buddy."

"Um, Larissa, I really need to speak to Adie alone, is that ok?" I asked Larissa, who didn't seem phased at all and nodded. She left and told Adie about India's life story. "How do you know this much dear?" she asked me. "Me and the guys sat her down and she told all of us," I explained to her.

"No one should go through that."

"That's not even the worst part."

"Uh-oh."

"Larissa is one of those adoptive parents."

Adrienne's eyes seemed to grow as wide as baseballs. She walked to India's room to comfort her but she was obviously getting comfort from someone else. I followed her and saw that Mike and India laying on the floor, making out heavily and I cleared my throat.

India was the first to notice and pointed us out before Mike got removing his shirt. "We interrupting something?" I asked. Mike nodded but India shook her head and I laughed. "Adie and I are going to go ok?" I said, they nodded and India gave me and Adie a hug, "be strong girlie," I said. She nodded and whimpered as I was about to leave. "It's ok, you know my number ok?" she nodded and hugged me again.

Mike's P. O. V.

Tre' came out of the bathroom and said, "this night is canceled, I want to be alone." India and I nodded and we left for my house. India was kissing my neck in the car, "my dear, if you keep kissing there, I'm going to turn off the car and make love to you right here," I said.

She smiled and stopped and put in her Panic! At the Disco CD and started to sing to the same song. "Why do you like this song so much?" I asked her. She stopped singing and shrugged. "It's catchy I guess," she simply said. We arrived at my house and once we got in my house, things got heated, (no details. )

India's P. O. V.

I woke up with no one beside me, I looked around and saw Mike staring at me. "You're awfully peaceful when you're asleep," he said. "Um thanks?" I said confused. I had no shirt on, in fact, I didn't have anything on, and I leaned on my elbows with the comforter covering my chest.

The doorbell rang and Mike quickly put some jeans over his boxers. I smiled as he hopped out of the room, trying to put the jeans on at the same time. I saw Mike's polo shirt he wore yesterday and I decided to put it on. I put on my jeans and then Mike's shirt. Smells like him too. I thought to myself. I walked down the steps and made sure it wasn't Dad, I saw Billie Joe instead so I walked down casually and he turned to look at me and smiled. "Well good morning my Sleeping Beauty," Mike said to me while kissing my cheek and giving me my coffee.

"So... Did you guys do it?" Billie asked. I nearly choked on my coffee and same with Mike. Billie Joe was laughing his head off as I put my hand over my lungs and coughed. I was a lot cleaner, Mike on the other hand, had spit his coffee all over Billie Joe. "Oh sick dude!" Billie Joe whined. I was on my knees laughing.

"You still didn't answer my question," Billie Joe insisted. I shook my head and Mike just starred in his cup. Billie Joe looked at the two of us and screamed. "HOLY CRAP YOU DID DO IT!" I turned a deep shade of red and Mike looked at my eyes, "your eyes are black, black means embarrassed I guess." I nodded and he held me, "there's nothing to be ashamed of my little Songbird. I laughed and I held him closely, was this going to be my whole life?
