Are we demented or am I disturbed?, chapter 2

As we approached the huge grey building that we call school, I grabbed at Billie's shirt to stop him for a minute.
"Billie... What if it happens again huh? What will I do then?" I fought back the tears as I stared into his face, an expression of anger and sadness taking over.
"They won't touch you now. I know that for a fact. Trust me Ruby, you'll be fine, trust me," he said, glancing down at my scarred wrist and kissing all the tiny marks that still remained. "Trust me."
I couldn't help myself. Before we both knew it, I had kissed Billie Joe, my childhood friend of so many years, with as much passion as possible. It felt like we were there forever, just enjoying the moment before we had to walk through those gates of hell. As we broke apart, Billie grabbed my hand as we started to walk. "I'll never let them hurt you, I promise," he choked out, his emerald green eyes watering at the thought of what they had done.
"Hold me close, don't let go Billie, please, and don't let me go," I sung the song we both wrote all those summers ago.
"Never go, no I don't want you to go, and now I'll never let you go," we both sang and held on tight as we walked up the steps to meet the hell we would have to put up with today.

As we darted through the groups of jocks and preps gossiping in the hallways, everywhere I turned I got stares and comments. 'Oh my god, what is she doing back here? ' 'Didn't she tell the cops on that guy? ' 'Look at her now... What is she, emo? '
"Ignore them," Billie said, grabbing my hand and pulling me through all the commotion.
As we finally reached our lockers, I saw the hurt in Billie's eyes as he glared at what stood in front of us. The gang. The ones. The infamous Mike, Ray and Frank. "Why hello there Billie, Ruby, nice to see you've come to school for once sweetie," said Mike.
"Leave her alone asshole, you've had your fun, now piss off," Billie said with clenched fists.
"Billie, the fun has only begun," Frank said as he brushed past me, touching my thigh.
Mike and Ray laughed and hi-fived each other. I closed my eyes and shuddered, thinking of him touching me freaked me out. "I am going to fucking kill them"
"Billie, let it go, if you ignore it they get bored after a while"
"Ruby please, look what they did to you," he said, eyes glazed over with tears, "Do you look ok? Do your wrists look ok?" People had started to look over at what was going on, Billie holding my wrist in the air and yelling this.
"Shh! Billie please, I don't need this. I know I'm not ok, but I can't do anything more"
Billie dropped my arm and stared at his old converse. I never knew he was that interested in the ground. "But... I could have prevented all this happening in the first place. I'm such an idiot, why wasn't I there to protect you, why?"
"It's not your fault. Please, I need you to see that. I love you Billie, so much... I... I... "
Suddenly Billie looked up and embraced me, bringing me in close to his chest as I cried. "I love you soo much."
"Mr. Armstrong, Miss. Willis, this is a school ground. Please, you're going to be late for class," said Mrs. Phillips, the most hated teacher in the school. She had a thing for breaking up moments like this.
"Sure Miss, we're going now. I wouldn't ever want to be late for maths, would I?
The teacher glared at Billie and then walked away. "Bitch," he said, rolling his eyes. I laughed and then smacked Billie. "Come on, lets go before anyone else catches on to us."
"Catches on eh? Hmm wouldn't want that," he said raising his eyebrows. Rolling my eyes I stared at the jet black haired boy next to me. So beautiful, yet so broken.
