Are we demented or am I disturbed?, chapter 6
I walked briskly along the lonely grey streets that led to Billie's house. I thought about what he could possibly want to talk to me about. As I started to walk down his street I checked my reflection in my pocket mirror. My eyes were black and smoky and I applied some lip gloss just to finish the look. I felt butterflies in my stomach. 'I think I'm in love... ' I whispered to myself. I walked up to the door of Billie's house. It wasn't anything special, but it was a nice family home. I rang the doorbell and waited anxiously.
The door opened and I saw Billie standing there, with a black shirt, black pants and converse. His hair was messed up and he looked great. "Hi Ruby!" he said hugging me, "You came after all... "
"Of course I came Billie... You're my best friend." We walked inside and sat down on the couch. "So... Why am I here anyway?" I asked anxiously.
"Well... Today in History... Dirnt was there," he said looking at the ground, "And well... We had words. And then I ended up leaving before class was over because... "
"Because he said stuff about me to you that you couldn't just take?" I said with a smile.
"Exactly," he said looking up from the ground, "And now I know exactly how you feel."
"Oh Billie... I'm sorry," I said hugging him. He didn't let go. We cuddled for a long time, sitting in silence. "Oh hi Ruby," Billie's mum said, breaking the silence.
"Oh hello Mrs. Armstrong," I said breaking away from Billie.
"Ollie please," she said laughing, "Anyway I didn't want to interrupt you guys, I'm just heading out, Billie I think I'll stay at Maria's house tonight, help look after the kids."
"Ok mum," he said innocently, "See ya then."
I heard Ollie shut the door and the engine of the car start. "Mummy's boy," I sniggered.
"Excuse me," he said with a look of shock on his face, "Not a mummy's boy. Do you think I wanted her staying around and... And... Then we wouldn't have privacy... "
"Oh...," I said smiling at Billie.
"Haha yeah um... But I also brought you here to tell you something else," he said, his eyes glimmering.
I sat nervously and waited for what Billie was going to say. Was it going to be good or bad?
"Ruby, you know how I asked you to the school dance?" I nodded and bit my lip.
"Well...," he said grabbing my hand, "I don't want to just go with you at the school dance... I want to go as your boyfriend."
I smiled as much as possible and let out a small laugh. "Oh Billie... Wow... I'm lost for words," I said squeezing his hand.
"Uh... Yes I will be your girlfriend would be good I suppose," he said laughing.
"Okay Billie Joe, I shall be your girlfriend," I said seriously, then bursting out with laughter.
"Thank you Ruby," he said bringing me close and hugging me, "I love you."
Our lips collided and we kissed like that day before school. Sweet and loving, I felt safe being with my best friend in the whole world.
***Billie's Pov***
'I can't believe I did it, ' I thought to myself as I kissed Ruby for the first time as her boyfriend. I actually worked up the guts to ask her out after what... 3 months of wanting to. I held her close and loved every minute of being with her. After a while we just sat there, holding each others hand and blankly staring at the T. V. I finally felt we could be happy at last.
"So... The dance is only 4 days away Ruby," I said trying to start a conversation.
"I know, it's so soon... And I'm so glad I get to go with my favorite person in the world," she said smiling at me.
"Favorite person? I think you mean favorite boyfriend Ruby," I said laughing.
"Haha okay Billie, favorite boyfriend it is."
"Why thank you gorgeous," I said kissing her lips and grazing my hand over her delicate face.
"Oh you're welcome," she said giggling.
I loved her laugh. I loved her smile. I loved everything about this girl, to me she was amazing.
"Billie...," she whispered.
"Yes Ruby?"
"Could we maybe... Go up to your room? You know how long its been since I've been in there like about... "
"Haha okay we'll go to my room," I said switching off the tv and grabbing my girlfriends hand, "No need for excuses Ruby," I said with a wink.
"Oh... Haha maybe you think wrong though Billie Joe," she said with a cheeky grin.
"Maybe, maybe not, ' I said grinning and holding her hand as we walked up the stairs.
Before I could reach my room I saw Ruby stop dead in her tracks.
"Everything okay?"
"Sure... Just... You look so handsome," she said blushing.
"Aww thanks Ruby," I said walking over to her.
All of a sudden Ruby gave me a romantic and intense kiss. We started to make our way to my room, not stopping the kiss at all. "I... Love... You," I said in between kisses.
"I love you too," she said as we stumbled through my bedroom door.
