Life Changes, chapter 9
There was a knock on the door. "All clear!" Billie yelled, breaking from the stare. The door swung open and in came a girl. I rolled my eyes. Penny.
Penny: very beautiful, well-shaped, and very dimwitted.
"Oh my God! BJ!" she yelled. I hate it when she calls him that.
"I heard you got shot," she rambled on, "Was it with a bullet?" See what I mean? Billie just smirked.
"Yeah, P-body," he said, "It was a bullet."
"I'm so sorry, BJ! Don't call me that," she walked over to give him a kiss. They stuck each other's tongues down their throat. Disgusted, I turned to Izzy.
"So, Izz," I said, calming down, "How's college."
"Sucks," he said, "I can never get any study-time in. It's just non-stop partying." We all stared at him. Even Billie. Izzy? My Iszzy? Sick of partying?
"Hah!" he said, "Gotcha! Do you really think that I, the party master would be tired of partying?!" We all laughed. Penny didn't get it. She had a blank expression on her face.
"Who's the chicky?" she said, looking me over.
Billie stared at her. "Don't tell me that you don't remember my fucking best friend!" he said, looking a little irritated.
"Yeah," she said, "I know Mike, but, who's she?"
"Chassy!!" he yelled at her," My best friend since like, ever!" She looked a little shocked.
"You?" she said to me, "You're his best friend?"
"They one and only," I said, shrugging. I loved telling her off. I guess it wasn't my best, but, there was another time, but, that was after this.
"BJ," she said, turning to Billie, "You have a... a girl for your best friend?"
"Yeah," he said, "So?"
"SO?!" she yelled, "SO?! You have another relationship with a girl, and , you don't even tell me? Your own girlfriend?!"
"Look mother fucker," Billie said. Yes! He was finally yelling at her! "Chassy's my best friend. Friend. Do you know the meaning of that word? If so, I'm surprised you do!" Go Billie! I though to myself. She looked shocked.
"BJ!" she said, "I am shocked and apalled!"
"You don't know the meaning of that either!" he snapped. She grabbed her stuff and left.
"Thank God!" Billie said.
"Great job," said Mike, finally saying something. Billie looked a little shocked and jumped back. "When the fuck did you get here?!" he said.
Mike laughed. "Just now," he said jokingly.
"So," I said, standing up from where I was kneeling, "How does it feel to be single again?"
"Pretty good," he said, putting his hands behind his head, "I'm so glad to have gotten rid of her. The little bastard was just after me for my money."
"What money?!" Mike, Izzy, and I said. We all laughed. I was glad he had gotten rid of her, too.
There was another knock. "Come on in," Billie said.
A nurse walked in. "Visiting hours are over," she said, "It's time to go home." Fear struck my heart. Home. I hadn't thought about what Mom would do. I guess I had the expression across my face. Everyone was staring at me.
I said, "Bye," to Billie and dropped Mike off at his house. I sat in the car for a while before going inside. I didn't want to. I really didn't want to. But I had to. There was no where else to go.
