Brats On Tight Wad Hill, chapter 4
I stood there staring at him. I had to go over what just happened in my mind.
"Of course, Billie. It sounds like lots of fun." I finally answered. I could tell he was relieved.
When we got to the school, he turned to me, "So I'll meet you here after school, go to your place, have practice, then go to a movie."
"You really planned this out didn't you?"
He smiled, "Yea, I'll see you later."
I walked to my locker where I found Rachael.
"Oh my God, Kelly! You'll never guess what just happened!" ; she screamed.
"Well if I'm never going to guess, why don't you just tell me?"
"Whatever. Steven just came up to me and-" I cut her off.
"He ask you out?" ;
"No, he asked me if you would go out with him tonight and I said you'd love to."
I slammed my locker shut. "Fuck no, Rachael." I whined.
"What did I do?"
I calmed myself. "I can't. I already have plans tonight."
"Like what?"
"Stuff. Go and tell him I said 'no'."
"Fine."
The ball rang. I began to make my way to class.
Rachael turned and yelled, "You better tell me what you're doing tonight at lunch."
Lunch
As I exited my class, I ran into someone. I bent down to pick up my books. When I came back up, I found out I ran into Steven.
"Sorry." I said and walked away. He followed close behind.
"So, Kelly. About tonight?"
"Yea Steven. I wanted to talk to you about that. I can't";
"How 'bout tomorrow then?" ;
"No, um, I'm kind of seeing someone right now." I turned to face him. Right behind stood Billie Joe.
"But Rachael-"
"Don't listen to Rachael."
He slowly walked away with his head down and his hands in his pocket.
"So you're seeing someone are you?" Billie asked.
"Yup." I played along.
"And who would that be?"
"Oh just a guy I've known forever."
We laughed. I walked with him to his next class. When we got there we stood in the doorway staring into each other's eyes. Tre came over and stared at us funny.
"Just kiss already!" he pleaded.
We broke eye contact.
"I better go. Rachael's probably freaking out." I made my way to the lunchroom, which was also outside if it's nice out that's pretty much everyday around here.
"So you and Kelly?" Tre asked. The two sat down in their sets.
"Yea"
"Does Mike know?"
"I asked him if it was okay."
"Why you do that?"
"I don't know. Thought it might be awkward."
"I'm just surprised. Kelly? Why not any like..." He looked around the room. "Mandi Andrews?"
"What is with you guys and Mandi?"
Lunchroom
"Billie asked you out?" She screamed.
"Sshh, yea. It'll be nice. Just him and me without Tre or Mike."
"Speaking of Tre, when's he moving in?"
"This weekend"
"Also speaking of Mike, he seems kind of over protective lately."
"He's been like that ever since Mom moved to the city." I explained. "He gets annoyed like whenever I say 'I'm going to go out'."
"How do you think living with Tre will be?"
"It won't be boring."
In the years to come, I would not know how right I was...
