Brats On Tight Wad Hill, chapter 5

That night after practice.

"You know, Kelly, you're pretty good," Tre commented.

"Just because," Mike was cut off.

"Mike, we all know! Just because you taught me and I thank you for that," I kissed him on the cheek.

"Hey, if you two are going to go out, you better go now," Mike pointed out the time.

"What about clean up?"

"Me and Tre'll do it,"

"We will?" Tre exclaimed. He sighed, "Sure, you two kids have fun."

"Make sure you're back here right when the movie's done," Mike told.

"Yes, mom," I replied.

When we got to the movies, Billie asked me "So what do you want to see?"

I looked at my options. "How about, Breakfast Club?"

"Two for Breakfast Club, a large butter popcorn and two medium root beers."

"Where did you get that kind of money?" I questioned.

"My mom's purse," he confessed.

"You thief," I smiled.

We walked into the theater and got two seats in the middle row. "This is my favorite spot," I said.

"Mine too."

Other people came in after us. As the previews started, I saw Steven with his younger brother. We made eye contact for a few seconds. He didn't look very happy, more like pissed. I looked back to Billie. He smiled and put his arm around me. Tonight is about Billie and I.

End of movie

"That movie was awesome!" I yelled as we exited the theater. "Thank you for taking me."

"No problem. Hey, wait here, I gotta pee."

"Too much information, but okay." I waited for Billie in the lobby. Then someone tapped me on the shoulder. It was no one other than Steven.

"So that's someone? Billie Joe Armstrong is someone?" he yelled.

"Yeah. You got a problem with it?"

"No, but it's just that, I've had a crush on you ever since you moved here in second grade."

"I guess you should have asked me earlier."

Billie came back from the bathroom. "Is there a problem here?"

"Yeah, there is, you! Can't you stick to your own age group?" Steven started yelling again.

"Fuck you! I like Kelly, a lot. Plus I know her better and longer then you ever had or ever will," Billie yelled back.

Steven rose his fist and was about to hit Billie, when Steven's little brother came over.

"Steven, whatcha doin'?"

"Nothing. Just playing around," he lied.

"Come on, Kelly. I'll bring you home," Billie said putting his arm around my waist.
We walked in silence on the way home.

Oh my hatred of awkward silences. I decided to break it. "Sorry about that, Billie."

"It's okay. Although it would've been fun to kick his ass," we both laughed. Man, we laugh a lot. We got to my house and stood in the doorway. We stared like we did at school earlier.

"I had fun tonight with you," Billie said.

"I had fun, too."

Slowly we leaned in for a kiss. A million fireworks went off in my head. We parted, I looked away and smiled to myself. He smiled too.

"I should go or Mike will freak out at me," I said.

"I'll come over sometime tomorrow," he walked back to his house.

As I walked into mine, a light suddenly turned on. "And where have you been?"
