The Real Story, chapter 5

When I finally arrived at the city, the sun was about to set. I had no idea we had woken up that late.

Anyway, I was tired, sore, and cold and I swear I felt dead if I hadn't checked my vital signs. But, I was in the city...now what? I decided to walk around and just look around until I could think of something.

The city lights and skyscrapers were coming down over me and were very overwhelming. I had never noticed the huge city; last night was a blur to me. But now, alone and feeling like a tiny ant lost in a huge jungle of concrete, I was a little scared.I don't know anything about the city or how to survive; I'm a suburban boy and...

Wait, I was scared? I never felt scared. Even when I had to drag my mom out of bars or getting beat up. Shoot, I wasn't even scared of the dark! I am not easily scared. Then again, Jingletown was a lot smaller that the city. Then it hit me: I wasn't ready for the city.

I had just left home and had no experience or idea what to do next, whatsoever. The only experience I had was getting my first hangover away from home. Great, my dream of leaving home and going city bound was slowly falling apart. The dream of Jingletown burning down and getting away from the lies and deceit I endured was fading away. Guess I should have planned things out.

No, I had to think on my toes. I was gonna start a new life with a new me. I wasn't gonna be the old Jesus of Suburbia. I was gonna be reborn as someone different. But the thing is, how do I do that? No one was here to help me. Well, except for Tunny and Johnny, but they didn't have a clue, either. I...we needed help. How else could we survive on our own? We didn't finish school, so there was no way we could get jobs. Even if we did, we would somehow get fired anyway. It was hopeless.

Or so I thought.
