Bleed to Love Her, chapter 8

The venom injected through her veins made Sayako's breathing speed up, and the black slits for pupils in her golden eyes narrowed to an impossibly small black line. The lines seemed to wrap around her arm, spreading out to her chest at an exponential rate.

"Hang in there, Sayako," said Mike as he held on to her hands. Adrienne was on the phone with someone, probably the hospital, but then she muttered something that didn't sound like English, or any other language he'd heard before.

"So get your scrawny butt over here!" Adrienne hissed into the receiver. Ten minutes after she hung up, there was a pop, and a woman about the age he was appear before his eyes. She stood at the height of 5' 5" with brunette hair and impossibly dark eyes like Sayako.

"You rang?" she said in a misty tone.

"Yeah, Jessica, I did ring," replied Adrienne. "Do you think you can get the venom out of her veins before she goes crazy-go-nuts?"

"Who do ya think I am? I'm Jessica Wyatt, one of Minnesota's favorite vampires. Of course I can get the venom out in time." Jessica leaned over Sayako's pale body, and two pearly-white fangs appeared from her upper jaw, and they sunk into her skin.

"Get off of me, pathetic vampire," came a growling voice. Sayako's kind golden eyes were now a vicious and murderous blood red. She cut open Jessica's shoulder, and was choosing between Adrienne, Billie, Tré or Mike to butcher.

"Damn it, the venom's gotten to her," Adrienne muttered as she dodged an attack from Sayako. "Jess, the knives!"

"Heads up!" A knife made from obsidian with a glowing blue core flew over to her, but Sayako knocked it to the ground, stalking towards Jessica. The sound of tearing flesh rang through the room as she sunk to the floor, grasping her shoulder as blood trickled down her arm. Sayako's harsh red eyes stared straight at Adrienne once more, as she began to lunge for her next attack. A pair of strong arms stooped her from her assault, and Adrienne, Jessica, Billie and Tré stared at him as if he were insane.

"Mike, have you gone upside your mind?" said Tré as he watched him grasp Sayako in his arms as she flailed her arms around. "It's like you're trying to control a raging fire!"

"Or like dancing with murder," said Billie. "What do you think you're trying to do?"

"I'm trying to calm her down. Watch this," Mike attempted to kiss her, but her nails had cut open his bottom lip.

"Do you honestly think that will calm her angry spirit?" came Daunte's voice. She laughed as she watched Sayako attack Mike over and over again. "You're pathetic, Rage. As long as the venom is in her veins, she's under my control until there's nothing left of you or her." Daunte snapped her fingers, and Mike let out a piercing scream as the mark on his wrist set his blood on fire. "Now fight, the both of you."

Sayako's eyes narrowed as she prepared for another attack, but the blade that was given to Mike wasn't aimed at her, but at him.

"I'm not going to kill her, I'm not going to follow your rules," he growled.

"Fine. Butcher him, my demon," Daunte said simply, signaling Sayako to lunge at Mike with her fangs bared, ready to tear open his flesh. Her nails dug into his stomach, leaving him to lie motionless on the floor. A cooling sensation flowed through her veins, and her red eyes went back to a soft golden colour. The lines from the venom wound went away as her body healed itself. She looked over at Mike's motionless body, feeling tears fall from her eyes. Just then the lyrics to one of her songs, We Bleed To Love, ran through her mind.

Would you really bleed to love me, even if it cost you your life? Would you give all away to be with me tonight? So close your eyes, and let me be with you. I'll take you away from it all, 'cause I would bleed to love you

"How pathetic. The fool killed himself," muttered Daunte as she watched Sayako cry over Mike's motionless body. "Doesn't matter, I can kill you a lot quicker now."

"Don't even think about it," Billie growled at her. "Not until you go through me."

"Easier done than said," With another snap, Billie felt the same, burning feeling shoot into his veins as he collapsed to the floor. Daunte stood over Sayako, getting ready to stab her through the back. With a quick motion, Sayako, cut right through her chest with her nails, making Daunte scream in pain as she felt a chunk of her rotting body be removed with the razor sharpness of her nails. With each swipe, more and more of Daunte's body was destroyed until Daunte's top half remained.

"I should kill you now..." said Sayako. "And none of your pleading would change my mind one bit."

"Go ahead. I have no soul, so it would be a waste."

"No, but you have (surprisingly) a heart. So say good-bye, Daunte. You'll be missed," Sayako's nails went straight through her chest, and Daunte was finally gone. There was a crash, and two men stood at the door. One was tall with black hair, and the other was a short blonde dude.

"What did we miss?" said the tall one.

"Everything. What the hell took you, Roy?" said Sayako as she grabbed him by the shirt collar.

"Mustang decided to get some coffee, sorry we took so long. Where's Daunte?" said the blonde.

"She's gone, Ed. And so should the himonculi plague..." she looked over at Mike's motionless body. "It's time for me to go." She walked over to his body, lifting up his head. "I love you, Michael," she kissed him softly as she wrote him a note, using the paper and pen borrowed from Ed. "Give this to him when he wakes up."

"What are you doing?" said Adrienne as she watched her sister draw an enormous circle on the floor. "No... forget it, Charlotte. You're not transmuting."

"Daunte's body is good enough to exchange for his soul. I'd probably end up on the other side of the gate in the process."

"Charlotte, I'm not losing you again," she took the marker from her sister's hand as she stared right into her golden eyes.

"Adrienne, I will be fine. Take care of everyone for me," she finished the circle, and she clapped her hands together, making the markings of the circle light up as Daunte's body faded away, and Mike arose from the ground, completely healed.

"Charlotte, what are you doing?" No answer came. With a quick motion, he kissed her gently before she completely disappeared. "I love you..."

The light faded from the circle, and her body disappeared from the room, but she wouldn't leave his sight. Mike stared at the short, fifteen-year-old blonde. "Wow. Kids these days are shorter than I was when I was fifteen."

"Don't...call...me...short," Ed growled. "Sayako wanted me to give this to you."

Mike took the note into his hands, and unfolded it. It read:

Dear Michael,

What I have just done is a transmutation, or equivalent exchange. It's a very hard task to do in the study of alchemy. I exchanged my soul for yours, because I want you to live in this world for as long as you can before you pass on to the other side. At the moment, I'm lost somewhere in time, and I have no idea what time I'll fall into. I will find a way to get back to you and everyone else, using what is provided in the year I'm in. Please remember that I love you so much, and I will try as hard as possible to get back to you.

Love,

Charlotte XXXXX

Mike put the letter down, and his blue eyes filled with tears as he wept for the loss of the woman he loved. However, as the days passed, he kept hoping that whatever time she was in, she was figuring out how to return to his time while he was preparing a little surprise for her for when she came back.

THE END.
