Dirty Dancing, chapter 10
"Um, I need to stop by my house and get all of my stuff Billie Joe."
"Ugh, what is it with women and clothes!?"
"If you want me to get flour and almonds all over your kitchen floor then I'll go like this."
Like I said, my temperment has been engaged and Billie Joe tried to calm me down. He grabbed my hand and was kissing it all over.
"Ok ok, we'll stop by your house."
"Thank you."
"Merfh," it sounded like he said.
"What was that?"
"Nothing."
"Am I scary now Billie Joe?" I laughed.
"Maybe a little."
I continued laughing and told my co workers that I was closing early and they could go early. I went to my car and Billie Joe followed. I got inside my little Sunfire and laughed as Billie was having a difficult time with the seatbelt. I reached around him and pulled the seatbelt, as I did, he kissed my arm. I smiled at him but then I mentally kicked myself. He was about to get married, I shouldn't be flirting with him at all. I probably shouldn't even be hypnotized by his eyes or anything like that. I cleared my throat and put on the radio to my personal CD.
Is this the real life-
Is this just fantasy-
Caught in a landslide-
No escape from reality-
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see-
Im just a poor boy,i need no sympathy-
Because Im easy come,easy go,
A little high,little low,
Anyway the wind blows, doesnt really matter to me,
To me
Billie Joe laughed as we mouthed along to the words.
Mama,just killed a man,
Put a gun against his head,
Pulled my trigger,now hes dead,
Mama,life had just begun,
But now Ive gone and thrown it all away-
Mama ooo,
Didnt mean to make you cry-
If Im not back again this time tomorrow-
Carry on,carry on,as if nothing really matters.
We got ready for the best part but dang it there was another verse.
Too late,my time has come,
Sends shivers down my spine-
Bodys aching all the time,
Goodbye everybody-Ive got to go-
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth-
Mama ooo- any way the wind blows
I dont want to die,
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all.
I looked at Billie Joe and he smiled back at me. I let the roof down quickly and turned it all the way up and we mouthed along to it.
I see a little silhouetto of a man,
Scaramouche, scaramouche will you do the fandango.
Thunderbolt and lightning-very very frightening me.
Galileo,galileo,
Galileo galileo
Galileo figaro-magnifico.
But I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me.
He's just a poor boy from a poor family.
Spare him his life from this monstrosity.
Easy come easy go-,will you let me go.
Bismillah! no-,we will not let you go,let him go.
Bismillah! we will not let you go-let him go
Bismillah! we will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you go let me go
No,no,no,no,no,no,no.
Mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go.
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me,for me,for me.
"You ready?" he asked.
"More then you Armstrong."
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye.
So you think you can love me and leave me to die.
Oh baby! Can't do this to me baby.
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here.
I laughed as I head banged with Billie Joe. It must've looked very strange in a way. People were staring at us but the song just had to mellow out.
"So, I'm glad you kept your good taste in music."
"Why? Did you think I was going to move onto rap and a different guy grinding me everytime you think I go to a dance club?" I laughed.
"Well I don't know, grinding is pretty popular."
I laughed in response, I don't know why, Billie Joe always made me laugh.
"The only time I go to dance clubs is when my friends stuff me in a bag, drag me to their car and drive to a dance club where they're my only transporation."
"Nice friends."
"They're good company."
"So how good are you getting at dirty dancing?"
"Better then you'll ever be."
"Touchy?"
"Just a little bit."
We got to my house that I share with my friend Anna, she was home, obviously when I bringing home a famous rockstar.
"Wow, nice house," he said to me.
"Thanks, I share it with my friend Anna, she pays half the rent and groceries."
"Rachel!!!"
"Oh jeez."
My friend Anna ran.. well stumbled down the steps where I was with Billie.
"We are going to a dance club tonight, even if we have to stuff you in a bag, drag you to the car, and drive there, again!"
"See what I mean?" I said to Billie Joe. He just laughed and Anna didn't know I had company with me.
"I can't go, I'm going to dinner with my old friends," I put my arm around Billie Joe's shoulder but he intwined his fingers with mine and kissed it. Anna thought it was something else then it really was, Billie Joe was my friend, no more, no less.
"I need to get changed, you can look through the music room, maybe borrow a couple of CD's, records, all of that good stuff."
"Ok cool, nice to see you Anna, I hope you have a good time at the club."
"Um, Rachel, I need to talk to you for a moment," she said while pulling me up the stairs into my bedroom where I decided on tight jeans and a shirt that I made myself. It had the many faces of Green Day on it, it was my favorite so far.
"You ready to go?" I asked Billie Joe as he was going through my three shelves of just CD's, and my two other shelves of records, yes I do have a record player, my grandparents gave it to me when I was fifteen.
"Um yeah sure, let's go," he said to me.
We went to Billie Joe's house and I looked at another vehicle in the driveway, I thought it was Adrienne's but then I saw on the license plate it said 'TreCool.'
"Um, Billie, I'm nervous."
He kissed my cheek and smiled at me.
"Don't be, he'll be so excited you won't know what hit you."
"That's what I'm nervous about."
"Come on," he said, dragging me out of the car.
"Ugh! Fine!"
We walked to the door and Billie Joe opened the door and the heels of my very old boots seemed to feel like a sonic boom.
"Tré! I have a surprise for you!" Billie Joe called.
Tré was already bouncing around the room by the time he saw Billie. Then he took one look at me and smiled and lifted me up from my spot.
"Rachel! Where have you been!? We haven't been the same without you." He said it as if we haven't seen each other since yesterday instead of ten years.
"Around."
"I can't wait until Mike gets here and sees you! I can't believe I finally got to see you again! Rachel I love you!" Tré said jumping around like a little child. I laughed and kissed his cheek and another vehicle pulls up. Oh shoot, now I'm starting to get sick.
"Um, I'm going to help Adrienne with the food, um thing, um dinner."
"Good grammer."
"I try my best!"
I hopped into the kitchen where Adrienne was tossing a salad. She smiled at me and I smiled back.
"Hey Adrienne."
"Oh please, call me Adie dear."
"Ok, um Adie."
"So why are you here instead of sucking the face off of Mike or Tré?" she laughed. I knew she was just kidding so I laughed too.
"What's with this big surprise then? Did you buy a new guitar, because you have a whole basement load of them."
My gut seemed stuck in my throat and I searched for words, or to run away. But then I realized I couldn't run anywhere resonable to hide without being seen.
"You'll find out, let's just say it's going to shock you big time."
"You guys, you know I have a girlfriend, so if it's like a random hooker on the street, I won't appreciate it."
I looked at Adie with my piercing eyes, "that's why."
She nodded and took some veggie lasanga from the oven, wow that looks good.
"And there's the surprise," Tré said while pointing at me. I took one look at Mike and almost started to cry, he didn't change but either, I mean, he cut his hair and all of that. And thank gosh he did. He took one look at me and bit his lip. I bit my lip too, until it finally bled. There was a tension between us before he held out his arms for me. Tears finally came to my eyes as he closed his arms around me in a hug.
We didn't talk all through dinner but everyone was asking me about my business. About how I almost always get to see celebrities and all of that good stuff. Adie leaned in to ask me something personal and I knew the guys were eavesdropping even though they pretend they weren't.
"Um, Rachel, could you teach me.... some... um dirty dancing moves?" she asked me.
"I would have to demonstrate them for you," I said while stealing a glance at Mike who was staring at me. I grinned at him while Adie laughed and nodded at Billie Joe who had a smug look on his face.
"Um, Mike, care to join me?" I asked.
"Uh, sure," he said. That was the first thing he said all night. I put in my Dirty Dancing CD and got Mike out on the living room floor as 'Hungry Eyes' started to play. He gave me wide eyes, and a smile to go alone with them. We started to dance like we did at the school dance, placing our feet close to each other as we danced. Adie and Billie Joe were smirking at each other as Mike and I smiled at each other.
"Wow, um, I'm sorry that I danced like that, with you having a girlfriend and all," I said after the dance was over and I remembered him saying he had a girlfriend.
"I have to go," I said simply while I picked up my jacket. Mike grabbed my hand and pulled me in for a kiss.
"I would break a thousand girl's heart to dance with you again."
"Ugh, what is it with women and clothes!?"
"If you want me to get flour and almonds all over your kitchen floor then I'll go like this."
