Dirty Dancing, chapter 9
"Where's Rachel?" Mike asked me. I just shrugged and rolled over, but I couldn't, I was too hungover.
"Billie, I'm serious, where is she?" he asked again.
"Mike for the last time! I don't know!"
"What happened last night? I don't know what happened."
Memories came flooding back to me. We all got drunk from the alcohol, that much I remember. I was making out with Rachel while Mike fell asleep from the alcohol intake. Tré had an idea and we agreed, what was the idea? I heard rustling come from the side of me, it was Tré, and a vacant spot in between us. Oh no, we didn't? I slammed my head against the pillow, it hurt but I deserve it. I let this go too far!
"Hey, what's this?" Tré said while picking up a piece of folded paper. He read it throughly and started crying.
"Tré what's wrong?" I asked. He just handed me the paper and I read it too and started to cry, this was my fault. Mike snatched it and just sat down, and just started bawling. Then he started shaking very hard, he was having a panic attack! I took his hands and he squeezed them and was breathing heavily. Then he was whispering something to himself and it finally subsided. Then he looked at me and hugged me.
"I don't know what I would do without you Billie Joe."
I sighed and thought of a couple of things.
*10 years later*
"Calm down Rachel, I'm finished!" my co worker said.
"You better be! He's going to be here in a couple of minutes!"
"You meet celebrities, what's different with this one?"
"I'm not meeting him, he just wants his cake done and I would appreciate if my co workers would finish it!"
"Why aren't you doing it then?"
"Because I'm working on every other cake that you didn't finish!" They all went quiet and I stormed out for some air. I then walked back in and counted to ten as everyone looked at me. Ever since I left Mike, Billie Joe, and Tré, I've been a little short tempered to say the least. The person walked in and I smiled at him.
"Here's your cake sir, wish him a happy birthday for me," I smiled.
"OK, I'll do just that."
The big cake that everyone was worried about was Isaac Mizrahi's birthday cake that I just handed him. I owned a famous bakery shop that made all kinds of cakes and pastries and stuff like that.
The phone rang.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Is this Queen of Cakes?" a woman asked.
"Yes it is," I said while jumping on the counter.
"I need a wedding cake."
"Who are the couple?" I asked.
"Adrienne Nesser and Billie Joe Armstrong."
I almost dropped the phone but instead I held onto it.
"OK, would you like to come to the bakery and we'll figure out what you guys want?"
"That would be perfect thank you so much!"
"Ok I will see you in a little while to be prepared."
"Thank you bye."
A woman walked in about 20 minutes later with a smile on her face. Brides were always my favorite customers, they were so happy about everything.
"Hi I'm Rachel Pina how may I help you?" I asked her. She smiled at me and asked, "I'm Adrienne Nesser, we talked on the phone?"
"Oh yes, right this way and I'll show you our selections."
"Thanks."
I took her to our selection book that weighed about fifty friggin' pounds and set it on a table where we sat and discussed what kind of wedding it will be.
"It won't be long, being a celebrities wedding and all."
"Yeah, do you want a big fancy cake with all the fancy marzipan and stuff or a simple smaller cake?" I asked politely, Adrienne seemed very friendly.
"Oh I don't know, what tastes better?" she asked.
"When you're at Queen of Cakes, everything taste good dear."
"Oh that's good, just testing you," she laughed. I laughed too, I knew why Billie Joe was going to marry her now, she was so pretty and light hearted.
"I can make it like a colorful cake with about five layers or more. Or a simplier cake that looks modern and all that but that's only three layers."
"Oh that simple cake sounds good, what kind do you have?"
"Well we're about to look," I said while opening the selections book to my favorite simple cakes.
"Wow, they don't look simple," she awed.
"They're not but they're simpler then the bigger ones."
"There are so many!" she said again.
"I'm going to have to call Billie and ask him, do you have a phone I could borrow? I don't have a cell phone."
I pointed at the counter phone and she started to talk about the cakes and how much she loved him.
"He'll be here in a little bit, tell me about yourself," she smiled.
"Oh I went to Pinole High, my favorite band is Green Day and any kind of punk and I can dance the best then anyone I've ever seen."
"What kind of dance?" she asked me excitedly. I gave her a smirk, "dirty dancing."
"Wow, I wish I could learn that, it's uncomfortable for me, I was raised around high class and all of that, so it's hard to learn those kinds of dances."
"Well I was raised around the original movie and I used to practice it with my friends at dances, just for fun, got smacked at one dance though."
"Why's that?"
"Because the first party like me while the second party was determined to get me so second party dirty danced with me and first party got jealous. I ran out and the parties must've had a fight. Second party ran out and I helped him though a panic attack and then kissed him. First party saw me and smacked me."
"Wow, does that sound familiar," she said. My gut got caught in my throat when I remembered this was Billie Joe's wife. I guess I was just so caught up in the story I just forgot. The door opened and Billie Joe walked in, wow, he doesn't change much. Then again, neither do I.
"Hey baby," he said while kissing Adrienne's forehead. He took one look at me and his eyes boggled out.
"Ra-Rah-Rara-Rachel?" he gasped. I started to sob and nodded. He held out his arms and hugged me tightly. Adrienne was obviously a little confused at this episode.
"Where were you? Why did you run away? I'm so sorry! We were drunk, I didn't know what we were doing. Mike and Tré haven't been the same without you, come to dinner?" Wow, he said that less then a second. I couldn't say anything so I just nodded and he hugged me again.
"So you own this now?" he asked me. I nodded and he laughed.
"Adie said something about picking out cakes, is my mouth gonna water?" I laughed and just said, "probably."
"Actually, we have an extra cake back there, do you want a piece as a sample?" I asked. They just looked at each other and nodded at me. I laughed and got two pieces of the extra cake that I made and gave it to them.
"Wow, this is good, I want this cake," Billie Joe said. I giggled as he crammed his mouth with cake and Adie was so dainty with her food.
"So Rachel was just telling me about the dirty dancing incident," Adie said while Billie Joe took a sip of his water but it didn't stay in his mouth for long.
"Billie!" Adie said. I giggled that Billie had pretty much spit water all over the table.
"Ugh, always cleaning up after you Billie Joe," I scoffed. He stuck his tongue out at me and I cleaned it up with a rag.
"Yeah, that one dirty dancing incident, that was an interesting one."
"All of our incidents are interesting Billie Joe."
"Touché."
"Ok, I'm going to go get dinner started and you guys can catch up," Adie smiled at me. She kissed Billie Joe, they obviously trusted each other if she'll leave him alone with me.
"So, what happened after you ran off?" Billie Joe asked bitterly.
"I found I was pregnant."
His jaw seemed to jaw all the way down to the table as I just nodded.
"Who's was it?" he asked me.
"It was made from two men, you, and Mike."
"So, what's it's name?" he asked.
"I couldn't name her, she died before she ever took a breath, she was choked by the umbilical cord."
"Wow, that's just wow."
"And somehow I haven't gotten over it," I said while biting my lip to keep from crying.
"And you shouldn't, it was your child, our child," he said while grabbing my hand.
"Ok, just don't tell Mike ok? If I ever see him again."
"What do you mean if? You're coming to dinner aren't you?"
"Yeah, I guess."
"Good, we'll ride over now."
"Billie, I'm serious, where is she?" he asked again.
"Mike for the last time! I don't know!"
"What happened last night? I don't know what happened."
