When Will You Be Mine?, chapter 3

Deryk Krizka walked into the boys bathroom at Carter High School. He never knew why it was Carter High School probably after some president. He looked in the mirror and applied a thick layer of dark puple lipstick. He smiled admiring his work. None on the teeth. Chains and pins hung from his clothing. He remembered when he first introduced his new style. It was some Jewish holiday and his mom nearly had a heart attack. His father sent him back up to his room and told him to change. He said it in his lawyer voice so he knew his father was serious. But he didn't. He stood there and said no. After that his father or mother never questioned him on his clothes again. His father still looked at him like he was a failure. He didn't and never would measure up to his brother Jake. Jake was taking over the family law firm and Deryk was not. And that was how the cookie crumbled. "Time for lunch." Deryk said aloud as he walked to the AP room.


Mark walked into the lunch room to see a familiar scene. Everybody was separated into their own groups. The Jocks, preps, goths, nerds... Etc, etc. Ryan waved him over to his usual table. "Hey Mark, how do you think you did on that algerbra test?" asked Ryan. Mark laid his head on the table. He had done terribly. He didn't study after his late night encounter with Dave. Dave said that Mark didn't do the dishes which he did in fact do. Dave banged his head against the wall a few times and the rest we don't have to go into detail about. "That bad huh?" Trevor asked leaning back in his chair. Damn Trevor was always laid back and never had worry in the world. "Yeah", sighed Mark. "You'll do better next time," said Ryan. "Nah I doubt it!" Deryk sat down by Trevor, "Pigs will fly when Mark passes an Algerbra test."
"Shut up you stupid fag," said Mark.
"OOOOI'm scared." Deryk laughed.
"I'm just bustin' your balls man."
"Yea I know."
"Lets get somethin' to eat."
