Tales From Another Broken Home, chapter 14
(Two Months Later. Office.)
Billie's POV
Adi and I had an amazing time in Hawaii. We saw the dolphins just as we had promised Jake we would. In the last two months, we have basically spent a lot of time with each other. By spending time, I mean we were doing our 'marital duties'. Yesterday, I spent a few hours on the phone with my lawyer. I told him about the situation that Joey and Jake are in and how badly I wanted full custody. He said it was tough and there is a significant chance that I will not get what I want but I told him that did not matter. I swore to Joey that I would fight to the death for them and that is exactly what I plan on doing. This afternoon, Adi has an appointment with the doctor to check on the baby's process and we get to find out the gender of the baby. I am so anxious. I have been praying for a girl for years. Okay, not exactly praying but pleading to the so-called Powers That Be for a daughter. Adiana walked into my office. She looked so beautiful, she was practically glowing. She has been showing for about a month now and I cannot remember her looking more beautiful then she does right now. She walked over to me and wrapped her arms around me.
"Hey, baby."
"Hey yourself. How's that custody battle going?"
"It's moving along. Slowly, but moving. I just called Adie."
"And... What did she say?"
"Nothing. I kinda didn't tell her."
"What? Billie, you're going to have to tell her soon."
"Yeah, I know. I'm just scared. What if she says no and she wins and I never get to see them again?"
"Billie, you don't know that will happen for sure."
"Yeah, but the fact that there is a possibility. That's the scary part."
"Just relax. There's no need to be scared about something that may or may not happen."
"I'll try."
"No, don't give the old 'I'll try' speech to me, Buddy. You will try to relax or I won't have sex with you for a whole month."
"What? Are you threatening me to relax?"
"Yes, I am."
"That's not the best way to relax someone."
"You better, Billie Joe Armstrong."
"You used my full name."
"Yup."
"I think you're bluffing."
"Fine, push me."
"You know you can't resist me."
"No, you can't resist us?"
"And who might us be?"
"Me and my great rack."
"So very true. I am whipped."
I pulled her perfect face closer to mine and gave her a kiss. I loved the feeling of her warm lips on mine. Even though these kisses are not old they are still the greatest thing I have ever felt in my life. If I could, our lips would never part because it feels so right.
Minutes Earlier.
Adrienne's New House.
Adie's POV
I placed the phone back on the receiver. Billie had just called me. He sounded nervous before he asked me how I was doing. Maybe he still has feelings for me. I know that I am still in love with him. How could I not be? He is the perfect man. Those gorgeous green eyes, his inked skin, his rough, callused, yet comforting hands, his lips, that ass. I have not stopped thinking about him since the last time I visited his house. Our house. Just seeing him again, smelling him, I knew that I was still in love with him. I went to go pick up the kids but I really just wanted to see him. I really do not care about the boys. Hell, I only had them to keep Billie. I heard some yelling upstairs. Damn kids. I cannot get the image of that bitch of his out of my mind. How could he choose her over me? With her long black hair and those dark eyes. She is even pregnant. Probably so she could take him away from me. That will never happen. I felt my cell phone vibrate in the pocket of my jeans so I flipped it open. One new text message.
hey sexi
u hrny?

c u @ 8 ???
I snorted at the message. Blaine sent it. I met him at a bar last night. He was cute, no Billie, but he will have to do at least until Billie comes to his senses. I heard padded footsteps running across the living room.
"Mom, Joey won't let me play the xBox."
"Tough luck."
"But... "
"Shut the fuck up, Jakob."
I grabbed the glass I was drinking from earlier that was half full of vodka and took a sip.
"Great. You're just gonna sit here and drink?"
"Yes."
"Adiana would help us solve our problem. She doesn't drink."
I slapped him across the face. How dare he say that whore is better than I, his own mother. "Don't you ever mention that bitch's name in my house again."
"Why? She's nice and she loves me."
"Oh, and how do you know?"
"She told me."
"She told you? Go to your room, you're grounded."
"I hate you! You're not even my mom, Adiana is!"
He ran off down the hall and slammed the door. Good, because I do not want to be.
Jakob's POV
I hate her so much. All she does now is drink and yell at me. I cannot believe she hit me. She never hit me before. I miss Daddy. I cannot wait two more weeks here. With her. I plopped on my bed and screamed into my pillow. I felt a lump in my pocket and remembered the phones that Dad had bought Joey and I. He said we could only use it if it was an emergency because he was worried about us at Mom's. I pulled it out and called Dad's number.
"Hello?"
"Daddy."
"Jake? What's wrong?"
"Everything. Mom's drunk. She yelled at me and I told her that Adiana is a better mom than her and she hit me."
"What? She hit you?"
"Yes. I can't take it anymore. I wanna go home."
"Okay, I'm gonna call your mom."
"She's not my mom."
"Jakey... "
"That bitch is fucking crazy."
"Jake! Language!"
"Sorry Dad, but it's true."
"Alright, little man. I'll call her. Bye."
"Bye, Daddy."
"Don't worry."
"I won't."
Adie's POV
"Hello?"
"Adrienne."
"Billie?"
"Who the fucking else would be calling you?"
"What's the matter? Did you and... whatsername get in a fight?"
"Huh? Fuck no. We're perfect. You and Jakob got in a fight."
I hated it when he said they were perfect. I want to perfectly shove my foot up that girl's ass. How did he know we got into a fight?
"What? No we didn't. I'd never fight with him."
"Then why did Jakey just call me, upset, saying that you're drunk and you hit him?"
"I... I don't know... "
"Don't fucking lie to me, Adrienne. I'm not in the fucking mood for mind tricks. Listen, I'm filing for full custody of the boys. It's obvious that you can't take care of them."
"Why?"
"Joey and Jake both came to me and said how bad you have been treating them. They said they wanted to live with me and Adi."
"You know what? Fine, you and your fucking slut can have the little shits. Now you can all be the perfect fucking family. I hope you're happy."
"Don't you dare call Adiana a slut when you talk to me and don't insult our kids!"
"Why can't I? You're not the fucking ruler of the world. She is a slut."
"No, unlike you she has class and she's my wife. I'm fed up with this. Fuck you, Adie. I'm coming to get my sons."
"Come and get the little fuckers."
"I got custody papers. I need you to sign your parental rights over to me."
"Gladly."
"What happened to you, Adrienne?"
"I opened my fucking eyes."
The line went dead so I hung up the phone. I was so furious. A few minutes passed so I walked into the boys rooms and told them to get their stuff packed. They seemed very happy about it. How did life turn out like this? Three months ago my life was perfect. I was married to the man of my dreams. The kids were good. I lived in my house. I had money, a big house, a nice car, a clothing line and a record label. Next thing I know I am divorced and he married some woman three weeks later. Oh great, I want to get back with him but I got in a fight with him on the phone. He sounded so angry with me. I really need to watch what I say next time.
Billie's POV
I hung up and threw the phone at the wall. I was beyond angry. Jakob was right, she has lost her mind. How did I ever fall in love with her in the first place. How on earth can a woman say that about her own kids? When she called Adi a slut it pissed me off even more. No one is going to say anything bad about her. She is perfect. When the phone hit the wall it shattered into large chunks of plastic and Adiana entered the office with a very worried expression on her face.
"What was that? Did you break the phone?"
"Yeah."
"What would possess you to do that? Billie? Are you okay?"
She looked at me with a bit of fear behind her hazel eyes. She walked cautiously towards me afraid of what I might do. I opened my arms up to her and she sat on my lap.
"I got a call from Jake. He told me that Adie has been drinking and she yelled at him and he told her that you were a better mother and she hit him."
"Oh no. How could she do that?"
She gave me a look of sympathy and started to run her fingers through my hair. She knows that always comforts me. She kissed my forehead and allowed me to continue.
"So I said don't worry and that I'd call her. I was talking to her and then she said he lied. I knew he didn't. I told her the truth, that she was an un-fit mother. She told me that she didn't care about them anyway. I said that I wanted full custody and she was fine with it. Then she called the boys little fuckers and cursed you out."
"What? Why would she curse me out? She doesn't even know me."
"I know. She called you a slut and I'm so fucking pissed at her."
I could feel my muscles tense up. Adi realized this and gave me a hug.
"Babe, you need to calm down. I know it pissed you off but you need to let it slide. You know that when this baby is born you're going to have to be calm. Baby's feed off of their parent's emotions."
"I know. I swear I'll learn to manage it but right now I'm stressed. Do we have to bring you to the doctor right now?"
"No, in an hour or two. Why?"
"I'm going to get the boys. She said she'll sign the papers and then they're ours."
"Oh my God. I can't believe it. So when can I adopt them?"
"Soon. I have to leave now to get them. You coming?"
"Of course. After that we can drop them off at Mike or Tre's house and go to the doctors."
"Alright. Let's go."
Adie's POV
I heard a knock on the door and answered it. There before me was Billie and his wife. I let them in. I guess she felt the tension in the room because when Joey and Jakob came into the living room she said that she would wait with the boys in the car. I stared into his deep, green eyes. How badly I wanted to kiss him right then and there. Just to feel some kind of contact with him. He handed me a yellow envelope.
"There's the paperwork. I highlighted what you have to sign."
"You look good."
"Stop."
I stretched out my hand and touched his face. He looked away.
"Just sign them."
"I will if you do something for me."
"Adie, please, no games."
"Fine, I won't sign the papers."
"Adie."
"Do me a favor."
"What?"
"Kiss me."
He gave me a kiss on the cheek.
"There, now sign the papers."
"No, kiss me on the lips."
"What? No."
"Kiss me on the lips the way you do your wife."
"I will never kiss you."
"Then I guess you better say goodbye to the boys."
He was silent. He glared at me and then closed his eyes. He wrapped his arms around me and gave me the most amazing kiss. It was better then our wedding kiss, better than anything I could have hoped for.
Adi's POV
What is taking them so long? I told the boys to stay in the car. I walked up the pathway to the house and opened the door to see Billie's lips locked with Adrienne's. I cried so hard and slammed the door and ran out. I jumped in the car, started it and drove back to the house.
"Adi, what's wrong?"
"Yeah, why did we leave Dad?" asked Joey.
"Huh? Oh, nothing," I said between sobs.
I heard my phone ring and pulled into a gas station. I flipped it open without bothering to stare at the caller id.
"Hello?"
"Baby... "
I hung up. I was so pissed at him. How could he say he loved me and then go back to her and just kiss her like that? I felt so low at this point. I was pregnant and alone. I never really wanted to hear his voice again.
Billie's POV
Fuck! She is not going to answer the phone again. I punched a hole in the wall and heard Adrienne laugh.
"What the fuck are you so happy for?"
"Seeing you two's relationship disappear in a few seconds makes me happy.. Here, I signed the papers. You can go now since the boys are the only ones you have left."
I felt my temper sky rocket. I never felt this amount of hatred towards anyone before. I just blacked out. I ran across the other room and grabbed Adrienne by the throat.
"What did you just say?"
"N..nothing," she managed to choke out.
"You're happy that you ruined my marriage? You're happy? Well, you've had your laugh and that's going to be the last thing you say."
I threw her into a wall and looked at her cowering in the corner.
"No, please stop. I didn't mean it like that."
"No, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what you meant you fucking psychotic bitch. I can't even tell you how angry I am right now. I really do want to kill you."
"No you don't. You're just angry and... "
"Shut the fuck up. If she doesn't pick up the phone I swear to God on my fucking life that you won't live to see tomorrow!"
She looked at me with tear-stained eyes filled with fear. I did not care. I will not lose Adiana. I dialed her number and waited for it to ring. No one answered. I threw it across the room and it landed on the sofa. I stood up off the ground and walked toward Adrienne.
"No one answered. It's all your fault. It's all your fucking fault!"
I punched her square in the face and I heard her scream in pain as I felt a liquid spill onto my hand. I looked at it and saw red.
"Billie, stop! I'm sorry."
"Sorry doesn't fix everything, Adie. Do you think sorry is going to fix this?"
I heard my cell phone ring and I got up to answer it.
"If you get up you're dead. You better pray that it's Adiana."
I flipped it open and answered it.
"Hello?"
"Okay, you have five minutes to explain."
"Baby? Oh thank God. Adie said she wouldn't sign the papers unless I kissed her the way I kiss you."
"Like I believe that."
"No baby, listen to me. It's true. You can even ask her."
I walked over and handed Adie the phone.
"You better tell her the truth."
She nodded slowly and the explained to Adi, word for word, what happened and then handed me back my phone.
"Okay, I believe you. I'm turning back around and coming to pick you up."
"Thank you."
"If anything like this happens ever again and I have to see you kissing another woman than I'll kill you slowly."
"Alright babe. I'm never doing that again."
"Bye."
"I love you."
"Bye."
She hung up and I put my phone away. I instantly felt my anger go away and I was able to think clearly again. I looked at my hand this time. How did I get blood on my fist? I looked over at Adie and saw the condition she was in.
"Oh my God. What happened?"
"You don't remember?"
"No, I remember being pissed and blacking out."
"Well, you went psycho and punched me."
"I'm sorry."
"It's okay. I shouldn't have made you do it. Here's the papers. I'm gonna go get a cold rag."
"Do you want to go to the hospital?"
"No, I'm fine. Just go."
"Adie I'm sorry."
"Look, Billie. I'm still in love with you and I just can't stand to see you so happy with someone else."
"I'm sorry but we're divorced. I can't help that."
"I know that we'll never get together and that you really love her. I didn't mean those things I said about her, I don't even know her. I'm sure she's a great girl. I can understand if you never want to see me again."
"How about we start over as friends? We can try, huh?"
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"Okay, I'd like that."
I heard a horn beep from outside of the house.
"Well, I got to go. I'll call you some time."
"Okay, Billie. Bye."
"Bye."
I grabbed the papers and walked outside. Adiana was in the driver's seat. She saw me get out of the house so she walked around on the other side and sat in the passenger's seat. I opened up her car side door and hugged her.
"Babe, I'm sorry. But it was the only way to get her to sign the papers."
"I know."
I gave her a kiss and got into the driver's seat.
"Where are the boy's?"
"At Mike's. We have to go to the doctor."
"Oh yeah. Let's go."
I started the car and we drove towards the doctor's. I am so excited. It better be a girl. It just better be a girl. I won't care either way but a girl would be so great. We made our way to the doctor's and I led Adi into his office.
"Well, good afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong. My name is Dr. Richardson."
"Yeah, hi. Can we find out now?"
"Well, I can see someone's anxious."
"Yeah, he's been like that all week."
"Alright. Now Mrs. Armstrong, just lie down on the chair here and I'll set you up."
After about five or ten minutes, Adi was set up and the doctor started to tell us about our baby.
"Congratulations, you're going to have a beautiful daughter."
My heart stopped. He just said that I was going to have a daughter?
"Oh wait, what's that?"
Oh no, what did that mean?
"What's wrong?" asked Adi.
"Make that two girls."
"Huh?" asked Adi.
"You're having twins. Twin girls."
I screamed and hugged the doctor.
"Thank you! Thank you!"
Then I ran to the monitor where I could see my two future daughters on the screen in black and white.
"Hey girls, I'm your Daddy!"
I then ran to my wonderful wife and squeezed her tightly.
"Girls. We're having twin girls."
"I know baby, I know."
"Two girls."
"Billie, I'm glad that you're happy but I can't breathe."
"Sorry babe, I just can't believe it."
"I've never seen a father so excited. Here's the ultrasound picture. See you in seven months."
"Yeah, thank you."
I walked out of the office feeling the happiest in my entire life. I, Billie Joe Armstrong, was having twin girls in a few months.
