I Dare You..., chapter 1

It's 7:20 and I'm pulling into the school parking lot. Everyone is staring at me; they always stare because of the car I drive. Normally, the juniors have to park in the last two rows of the student parking, but because of my social status and the looks of my car, I get the very first row. I get out and I get swarmed by all of my friends. They all talk about how they love my car, how they wish they could have it, how they wish they could the money that I do, etc., etc. People think that they want to be popular and be with the big crowds of the school, but sometimes it can get a little annoying. I started walking up the steps, heading into the school; this is when I tell my friends something that will change my life forever.

Oh, by the way, my name's Allie. I'm a popular, rich kid. I have blonde curly hair, normal height, you know, the normal looking rich kid. But there's something distinctive about me that nobody else has; I have my normal eye color, gray, for my right eye, but my left eye is a bright blue. When I was ten, I had an accident with some food coloring; so I wear a special kind of contact that makes it look like both of eyes are gray. Nobody knows that I have two different color eyes. Anyway, I'm the kind of rich person that can spend $50 on a pair of jeans and not care about if she's low on money or not. A lot of people see me as a prep, but I just myself as a normal person, I just have a little bit more than average amount of money.

"So.." I started. "Have you guys ever listened to punk?" Everyone's mouth dropped. Even some people that were listening in seemed to act shocked.

"Did you just say that you like punk?!?!"

"No, I just asked if anyone has ever listened to it before."

"How do you know what it sounds like?" asked Rachael. She is the dumbest one we got in the group. She always has a late reaction or a really stupid question for everything.

"What the hell kind of question was that?" I asked. If looks could kill, Rachael would have killed me in a second. She's not the brightest person, but she is really good at come backs or she'll just shoot you a look that says 'don't mess with me'.

"Okay," I admitted. "I was flipping through the radio stations and I came to a punk station and I really liked what kind of songs they had. So, I guess you could say that I like punk." Everyone just stared at me for a few seconds, then they all turned and walked away with looks on their faces like I was on crack.

The bell rang, so I started to head to homeroom. I don't know why, but I always start the first day of school wrong. School sucks in general, but the first day is always the worst.

So it came time for lunch. I came out of the lunch line and I sat with my friends, like I normally do. Once I sat down, everyone stood up and went to another table. I started to get up with them, but then Sydney turned and gave me the harshest look ever and shook her head, as if she was saying 'don't you dare try to sit with us, you bitch.' So I sat alone that day, and the day after that, and for the rest of the week. My friends confuse me; they'll talk to me before and after school, but at lunch, they ignore me and pretend like they don't know me.

After the first week of school, I needed some reassuring, so I decided to go on a shopping spree. I went up to the mall, heading toward the normal store I go to, but while doing so, I passed a store that was playing the music I just started to like, punk. I went in; I didn't pay attention to what the store was called. I started to look around at what all they had. I liked the clothing the store had; I looked at the baggy jeans, the black pants, black and red shirts, jackets, belts, bracelets, make up. I also saw that there was hair dying things; they had had black, brown, and any other dark color there is. So I picked up a bottle of the dark brown. I know what I'm doing tonight, I thought.

So, Monday rolls along and I pull up into the parking lot with my red Camaro. This week, only my closer friends come to say hi to me. I got out of the car and everyone's eyes opened wide with shock. What was my blonde curly hair is now straight and dark brown. I have this section of what was my bangs that I grow out and now it's covering my blue eye; I took out my special contact, so now you can see that me eyes are two different colors. Normally, I just wear a little bit of eye shadow, but today I'm wearing a lot of eyeliner, and I mean the eyeliner is really heavy. The first thing that Jennie, my best friend, asked is

"Are you turning into a whore?" And she was right, I did kind of look like a whore.

"No," I said. "I'm going punk."

"Well tell us when you're going to be normal."

Jennie stunned me by this

"This is normal now. I'm done with the preppy shit. Do you not like me being punk?" And this is all with me just wearing my eyeliner and my new hair; I didn't put my new clothes on today.

Jennie just shook her head to my question. She turned and walked away along with everyone else who had originally greeted me. This is when I realized why everyone liked me; they thought I was pretty and they just hung around me for my looks. I hate them all now.

It is now a quarter into the year and I have officially lost all of my friends. My life sucks. I have no friends, people look down on me now just because of the way I dress, my parents hate me. Oh, that's who I haven't told you about yet; my parents. They don't even know I exist. They only notice when the bills come around and they see how much money they have to pay for me. To them, I am just a waste of money.

Half of the year has gone by and my life hasn't increased in greatness. The only thing that increased are the number of cuts I have on my wrists and arms.

One day, during lunch, while sitting alone and staring down into my food, I felt the presence of people sitting down by me. I looked up and three guys were sitting there, next to me and smiling.

"Hi," one of them said. "I'm Billie Joe. Who are you?"

"Allie."

"And I'm Mike."

"And I'm Tre." I looked at Tre; his blue eyes, his weird, yet cool spiky hair. He was adorable; come to mention it, they all were.

"We noticed you were sitting alone, so we decided to join you. You don't mind, do you?"

"Not at all," I said. "You don't know how long I've wanted somebody to sit with me. I've been sitting alone since the beginning to the year. All my friends turned on me."

"Why?" asked Billie Joe. He was sitting across from me and he was leaning over the table toward me and I don't really know why.

"Well, I was listening to punk and then I decided to dress like this instead of preppy. I came to school like this one day and everyone turned their backs on me and acted like they didn't even know me." I looked across the room where all the preps were and I said incredibly loud,

"They're all a bunch of bitches!" Sydney heard me and turned around and flipped me off. I stood up, ready to go over there, but Mike, who's sitting next to me pulled me back down into my seat.

"They don't like you because you dressed differently than what you normally did?" questioned Billie Joe.

"Pretty much."

"They're a bunch of whores," said Tre. There was a slight pause, but then Tre burst and started talking really loud and really fast.

"So, you like punk? Well, obviously or you would still be friends with those sluts. Did you know that us three are a music group that sings punk. Yeah; we're Green Day."

"Really? Do you guys have any gigs yet? Cuz if you don't my rich dad could find you one." The guys seemed to get excited that I was interested in their band.

"As a matter of fact, we're performing tonight at that coffee shop down the street. It's free." Mike said, grinning.

"I guess I have plans tonight. Even though I'm filthy rich, I love free stuff." I looked at all three of them, especially Tre, and I noticed they were all grinning.

"Why are all you guys smiling?"

"No reason," Said Billie Joe, still smiling.

The bell rang to end the day.

Later that night, like I said I would, I went down to the coffee shop and watched Green Day play; they were freaking' awesome. After the show, I went to find them and we all talked the rest of the night. This was the best night ever because I got some new friends.

Half the year passes by and it's the last day of school. The last day of school is on a Monday. Tell me, is that stupid, or what? Nobody ever does anything on the last day of school, so why waste a day going to school to do nothing? Anyway, the last bell rang for the year and I was walking out of school with the guys.

"So," Billie Joe.

"We're all gathering at my house tonight for a 'going-to-be-seniors' sleepover and we were wondering if you would like to come."

"Are you kidding? I would love to. Just tell me where you live and I'll be there." Billie Joe gave me his address and I showed up early at his house; even though I showed up early, I was the last one there. Billie Joe let me in and he had a smile on his face.

"Guess what?" he asked.

"What?"

"My parents are gone for a week. So, if it's alright with you, we were all thinking of having a week long party/sleepover."

"Hell Yeah!" I ran inside and set my stuff down with the other guy's stuff. The guys were playing there instruments when I walked into the living room. They played for about two hours and I just sat there, but I didn't mind; I loved listening to them play. What I really liked was watching Tre, he is so cute. Later, we all sat around and played truth or dare. Mike asked me "Truth or dare."

"Truth," I responded.

"Okay, tell us one of you deepest secrets."

I debated on what I should tell them. I decided to tell them about my eye.

"Okay, my secret, I can't really tell you, so I'll show you." I closed my eyes, removed the hair that covered my eye, and opened them again. I heard them all do a little silent gasp.

"What the fuck?" asked Mike

"That's hot," said Billie Joe

"How'd that happen?" asked Tre. He's so caring.

"Well, when I was about ten, my eye started hurting. So I told my mom about it and she told me to go get the eye drops. I did and I brought it to my mom to help put them in. At the time, she was in the kitchen, baking something. Whatever it was, she was making it blue, so she had the blue food coloring out. I set the eye drop bottle on the counter, by the food coloring. My mom grabbed the food coloring bottle instead of the eye drops and she pt the dye into my eye. It burned, she took me to the hospital, they said there's nothing they could do, but I would be okay." After I finished my story, there was a long silence.

"Well," Tre said after a while. "I think they're sexy." I kind of blushed and I could feel my face getting red.

It was my turn to ask someone. "Billie Joe, truth or dare?"

"Truth."

"Have you ever kissed a guy?"

"Only these two," he said pointing to Tre and Mike. "Wanna see?" Billie Joe crawled over to Mike and started to kiss him.

"OH MY GOD!" I screamed. "What the hell?!?!" And what's scary is they looked like they were enjoying it.

"Told you," said Billie Joe.

"I believed you, you didn't have to show me." We all started laughing and I dug my face into my hands.

"Okay, " I said, still laughing. "Let's just keep going with the game. Billie Joe, it's your turn to ask someone."

"Okay. Tre, truth or dare?"

"Dare."

"Okay, I have a dare for you, but I have to tell you in the other room." Billie Joe and Tre got up and went into the other room. "Aright," Billie Joe started off.

"I dare you to make-out with Allie."

"What?" Tre asked, kind of shocked in a way. "She's not totally like us. I don't know if she'll go for that."

"Fine. I can compromise. I dare you to go out on a date with her."

"Why did you choose Allie?"

"Tre, don't give me that bull shit," said Billie Joe. "You know you like her."

"So what if I do?"

"Just go out with her." There was a slight pause. "You know you want tooo," Billie Joe taunted.

Tre sighed a deep sigh , then stared at Billie Joe. "Fine; I'll ask her out."

"And you have to do it in front of me and Mike." Tre just nodded his head. Billie Joe and Tre left the room that they were just in and they joined Mike and me, who were talking in laughing. Tre sat next to Allie and he started,

"So, Allie, there's a fair thing that going on and I was.. um.. wondering if you would... want to go with me this Friday." Tre said the last part fast and everyone could tell he was nervous

"I would love to," I exclaimed, excited. Finally! I thought. He finally asked me out! Billie Joe and Mike looked at each other, then at Tre and me.

Mike broke the silence among them.

"So Tre,"

"What?" Tre was in a trance; he wouldn't stop staring at me, until Mike said something to him.

"It's your turn to ask someone a question." So, we continued on with our game until we all fell asleep.

The week long sleepover ended on Friday; I drove home, got ready to go out with Tre, and waited for him until he came. He was about 5 minutes late, but I really didn't care. We got into his car and drove down to the fair. We didn't really say too much along the ride.

*Tre's P.O.V*

We haven't really said anything to each other; maybe this was a mistake. She's just sitting there, looking out the front window with her hands in her lap. I should grab her hand, but I'm too nervous. I should just do it; I am. *reaches over and grabs Allie's hand* she's looking at me. I love when she looks at me, with those two different beautiful eyes.

*Allie's P.O.V*

He grabbed my hand! His skin is so soft. The rest of the way to the fair, he was holding my hand, and I absolutely loved it. We arrived at the fair and rode every ride there and we played a lot of games. They had this one game there to test your strength; you hit the button and if the little thing (whatever it was) went all the way up to the top, you got a prize. Well, I convinced Tre to do it. He got five tries to get it to the top; the first four times, he only got about ¾ of they way and every time he didn't get it, he kept getting more and more pissed off. I thought it was funny and he's really hot when he's mad. The fifth try, he was so pissed, he hit it so hard that he let accidentally let go and it hit the guy who was running the game. But with Tre being so mad, he had the strength to get it to the top. He picked out a really huge blue frog for his prize. "Here," the guy said, shoving the frog into Tre's hands; I guess he was still upset about getting hit.

"Take your shit." Well, I wasn't going to take that, and I didn't want to fight him in front of all the people, so I just flipped him off. While we were walking past the guy, Tre told the guy to

"Fuck off and Die." I love him so much!

Later into the night, around 9:30, it was starting to get dark and it looked like it was going to rain. While on our way out, we stopped at a little snack place in the fair and we got some cotton candy. While in line, Tre and I spotted Billie Joe and Mike walking by us; they both had a beer in their hand. I saw them and I called them over.

"Hey" said Billie Joe. "How is the date going?"

"Good," I replied happily. Wait, did he say date? I just thought Tre and I going out as friends. I brushed what he said away. The snack guy handed Tre and me our cotton candy. I held up my frog. "Look what Tre won for me. He won the strength tester game; it was funny. The guy in charge of the game got mad at us cause Tre hit the guy with the mallet, so Tre told him to 'Fuck off.' Oh, you had to be there."

"Sounds like you two are having a good time." Billie Joe finished his sentence, then he turned to face Tre.

"So, Tre, aren't you glad that I dared you to do this? See if you didn't, you wouldn't have had fun with Allie."

"WHAT?!?!" I screamed dropping my frog, but not my cotton candy.

"They fucking dared you to do this? You didn't want to?"

"No, it was nothing like that. I wanted to ask you, but I couldn't, cause I was nervous. When Billie dared my to, then I kind of had to, but I liked it when he dared me, then I could say I . . ."

I smacked him. Then I threw my cotton candy in his face. Then it started to rain and the sky just opened up; it poured. Everyone ran except for Billie, Mike, Tre, and me. I just stood there staring at Tre, shaking my head in amazement that he would do that to me; Billie Joe and Mike stood off to the side. The rain was melting the cotton candy off of Tre's face.

"I don't want you anymore." I turned and ran off.

Tre turned and looked at Billie Joe.

"Thanks, ass hole." After Tre started to head off after me, Billie Joe picked up my frog and told Mike

"I'll give it to her later." Mike nodded. Tre came running after me. I was just about to turn down a dark alley so he couldn't find me, but he caught me and grabbed my arm and stopped me from running any more.

"I thought we were friends," I exclaimed, wanting to get away from him.

"We are. I even wanted to be more than that." Why'd I say that? Tre thought. That just gave away I liked her. But I think she paid attention; she's too mad at me.
.
"Then why didn't you just ask me out on your own? If you wanted to go as friends, it shouldn't have made you nervous. If you wanted to go out as more than friends, then I would understand. But this was just as friends, right?" Tre didn't respond. He turned his head away, as if he were ashamed.

That instantly told me that he wanted to be more than friends. But I couldn't let him know that I knew, so I still acted mad. I should still be mad, right? I I mean, he did have to be dared to ask me out. He didn't have enough courage to do it on his own. I can be mad about that, right?
I didn't realize he was still holding my arm kind of tight, until he loosened up.

"Sorry," he said. "I shouldn't have done that. Sorry, Babe."

"Now you think you can kiss up to me by calling me cute names." I ripped my arm away from him. He looked hurt.

"It's not going to work. I'm pissed at you and I'm just going to walk away and ignore you for a while. Right now, I can't deal with you." I turned and started to walk off. I took about five steps when Tre called after me.

"I... " I heard him start. "I love you." I stopped and turned around and looked at him again. He looked gorgeous all wet. His hair was all slicked back and the rain just made his eyes stand out and they were absolutely beautiful. I want him so bad; then why am I throwing him away?

"What?" I said, kind of in a shocked voice. I was in shock; I didn't know he felt the same way I did about him. I just stood, there while he walked up to me slowly.

When he came up to me, he said

"I love you." Once, he said this, all my anger for him went away; he was too cute to be mad at him. I hugged him and told him what I have always wanted to tell him,

"I love you too." He looked at me with the blue eyes and he asked me

"Do you want to be my girl?"

Of cpurse I said

"Yes."

Then he leaned in and kissed me. It was the perfect place for my first kiss; I didn't expect to be by and alley, but it's in the pouring rain with the guy I have wanted for so long. The kiss seemed to go on forever; I never wanted it to end. When it did end, a car pulled up beside us and it was Billie.

"Want a ride?"

"Sure," I said.

"What about my car?" asked Tre.

"Mike's got it," Billie said opening the door for us. "Sorry about before, dude."

"No problem," said Tre climbing into the back seat after me.

"I should say thanks to you." Billie Joe turned around with a look of confusion on his face.

"You brought us closer." Tre put his arm around me and sat as close as he could.

"Hey," Billie Joe said, while looking into the mirror to see us. He was driving me home.

"Tre, I got another dare for you. I dare you to ask Allie to be your girlfriend."

"Already done." Billie's eyebrows went up, saying 'Really?' The I saw a smile appear on his face. I could tell he was happy for us. I looked over at Tre, then I laid my head on his chest. Even though he was cold from the rain, he was so warm. I felt Tre put a finger underneath my chin and lift my head up. He looked at me and told me

"I love you." Then he kissed me, just like he did before and I absolutely loved it.
