What Becomes of a Tragedy?, chapter 11

"So, what's first?" This is one of the very few times I have ever seen Tre act shy.

"Well, I guess when would be the big one!"

"Well, blue eyes; you're the one who wanted to take this whole thing at a slow pace. So, that is your question to answer."

I was in a stunned silence. It was true - that's what I had said, but now that I have the ring on my finger and I realize how much I really love him - slow doesn't seem like the way I want to go. And once again, I get lost in my thoughts... Which one is going to move into the others place? Does he want kids? (God knows I do.) Do I want a big wedding? No, family and close friends only. Am I too old to have kids? What would we name... "What?"

"Holly, you just missed our exit." It was true. I was supposed to be in the right lane getting off the highway, but I was in the left, getting lost in my mind.

"I'm sorry. Got lost."

"Got lost?" He smirks. "Where did you get lost? Your head?"

"Yeah, just thinking."

"About what?"

"Lots of stuff."

"Tell me . . . please."

"Tre, I know what I said, but I lied. I didn't realize how much I wanted to be with you until you asked me to marry you." I pause and take a deep breath. "Okay, here is what ran through my head. Ready?"

"Always."

"Where are we going to live? We live ten minutes from each other - who is going to move? Do we want to have any kids? You already have Ramona and Frankito, but I don't have any. What type of wedding? I'd want just family and close friends. And back to kids, what would we name them?" I pause and Tre starts to say something, but I'm not done, yet. "Okay. I'm sorry about that, I flipped out. This is the most excited I have been in years."

"I know, but I have some awesome news to add to it."

"You're joking." I didn't think anything could make me happier, but I was wrong.

"I checked my voicemail earlier and I had a message from Billie. Okay, he got a call from our manager saying that we have the opportunity to play Milton Keynes."

"Okay. Sorry to sound stupid, but what is the big deal about Milton Keynes?"

"Well, it's an outdoor arena, Queen played there, and it holds a shit load of people. I don't know the exact amount, but it's a lot."

"You're joking, right? Queen?"

"No, I'm not. Billie was screaming over the phone." Tre pauses and calms down a little. "So, do you want answers to your questions now?"

"What? Yeah, sure."

"Okay, this is going to be fast, so pay attention, deal?"

"Deal."

"Okay." He pauses and takes a deep breath. "I'll move to your place. I love it there. I would love to have children with you. I agree, family and close friends. And when they come around - we'll think of something to name them."

I sat there quietly, processing his answers. "Okay. But that still leaves us with when."

"Whenever you want blue eyes." We pull into my driveway and Tre heads towards his car.

"Where are you going?"

"Home. I have no clothes here, yet."

"Okay, but Tre..."

"Yes."

"Hurry up, dress nice and put on a happy face." I run inside, leaving him to wonder what that meant.

- Half hour later -

I had gotten a shower and dressed in my only dress I own, but have never worn. I was finishing up my make-up when Tre got back.

He walks into my bedroom with his hair done in a faux-hawk, his eyes made-up, and wearing a black suit with a black shirt and deep red tie. "So, is this dressed up enough for you?" He says loudly because I locked myself in my bathroom.

I open the door and look him over. "Yes. You look very good."

"I should say the same for you. I didn't know you owned a dress." He pauses. "You are beautiful." I blush. "So, why are we so dressed up?"

"Because I'm being spontaneous and if it's okay with you... I would like our when... to be now." We smile at each other.

"Are you sure? If you're not ready..."

"Tre, I have never been more sure of anything in my life. I love you."

"I love you, too. Have you called Billie, Adie or Mike yet?"

"No, but call Mikey and tell him to meet us at Billie and Adie's. I'll call Billie and Adie to let them know we're headed over." We make our phone calls and we take our time getting there to give Mike time to get ready and head over. We show up and the three of them are standing outside by Mike's car.

"What the hell is going on?" Billie was a little hung-over from the party. "Seriously, why are you here and why is Holly wearing a dress?" Everybody exchanged looks.

I break our silence. "Because we are setting a record."

And Mike asks that the three of them are thinking. "A record for what?"

Tre was so excited he couldn't hold it in, he almost yells the answer. "For the shortest engagement. We're going to get married and we want our best friends there with us."

All of us smile and Billie cheers up. "Two of my best friends are getting married. I'm excited. Let's go." Billie starts heading towards the car. We all follow in suit and make our way to the local courthouse.

When we get there, Adie and I head to the bathroom. "Okay, Holly. You look perfect. I am so happy for you."

"Thanks, Adie. It means a lot to me for you guys to be here." My eyes start tearing up.

"Hey, you're not supposed to cry yet." She wipes my eyes dry. "I really am happy for you. I've been hoping for you and Tre to get back together for years."

"Thanks, Adie. I love you so much. This really means the world to me."
"I love you, too, girl. Now... let's go and do this." We walk out of the bathroom and while Tre and I are filling out paperwork Billie, Mike and Adie are talking.

"It's weird, isn't it?" Billie asked out loud.

"What's weird, man?"

"It's weird that no matter how hard those two tried to deny their feelings for each other, they've still ended up together and are getting married."

"Yeah. True love cannot be found where it doesn't exist, nor can it be hidden where it does."

"Where do you find those little sayings?" But just as Mike had asked Adie that, Tre and I walked back in the room.

We all smile at each other. Tre takes a deep breath. "Let's go." He looks over at me and we smile at each other knowing everything is going to change - BIG TIME!

The five of us - Billie, Adie, Mike, Tre and I - walk into the room where Tre and I will make our promises to each other...
