Drenched In My Pain Again, chapter 4

Beep. Beep. Beep. I rolled over and instinctively slapped for my alarm clock on the bedside table next to me. But my hand just hit the air. I opened my eyes to find myself in Billie Joe’s room. And then it hit me. Oh God, I thought. What have I done? I looked around. On the floor were my clothes. The clock read 4:00 AM. I looked over at Billie Joe (also shirtless). His eyes were wide open, and I could tell he was trying to figure out what had just happened—same as me. “Wow. He whispered. “Did what I just think happen?

“We…did it, I said. Oh my God, I thought. I just lost my virginity to Billie Joe. We lay there for almost 5 minutes, but suddenly Mike rapped on the door. “You guys up? We gotta get moving!

Thankfully, he didn’t come in. Me and Billie Joe hopped out of bed, pulling on our clothes. “We probably shouldn’t tell Mike and Tre yet… He mumbled. I just nodded.

“Does your mom know we’re leaving? I asked, changing the topic. Billie Joe nodded. “She wants me to fulfill my dreams. Plus, it’s one less mouth to feed. Billie Joe had 6 other siblings. I thought how great his mom was. She’d been through a lot, and she loved me like a daughter. I wished my parents felt the same way…

My parents. I glanced out the window over at my house. All the lights were off. My sisters would be getting up around 6:30 for school. My parents would get up for work. And they’d see that I’m gone. I pushed this thought out of my head, grabbed my suitcase, and followed Billie Joe down the hall with Mike. Tre was waiting with his car outside. We loaded our luggage into the trunk and hopped into the car. Tre sat in front of the wheel, Mike next to him, me and Billie Joe in the back.

“You guys ready? Tre asked. We all nodded. Tre started the car and began to drive. As we passed my house, I said one final goodbye in my head. We drove through the deserted town of Rodeo. True, I would miss it. But as we left the town and passed through new ones, I began to get more and more excited about my new life.

About an hour into the trip, Billie Joe pulled out a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket. It looked like a description of something. As I read it, I realized it was a description of an apartment. “You bought an apartment?? I asked. “Yeah, me and Mike had money, and Tre’s dad helped…we’re sharing it. It’s just until things get moving.

I was even more excited. We had an apartment…I had Billie Joe…and, who knew? Green Day could become the next big thing! A few hours later, we arrived in Oakland, California.

It was a big city, unlike Rodeo. First, we drove to the apartment. “We already furnished it. Billie Joe said. “I would’ve told you sooner, but things were so crazy… It was a decent place, with a small kitchen, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living room with windows overlooking the street below. “We’ve got to go to the record deal place. Mike said. “Yeah, we’ll be back later. Billie Joe said.

The three of them left the apartment. I walked around, looking in each of the rooms, deciding which bedroom Billie Joe and I would claim. Billie Joe and I. It sounded so…right.

Finally. I was home.
