Sweet Child of Mine, chapter 7

We walk into the Firefly, we as in Joey, Jake, Frankito, Estelle, Mike, Tre and myself. Adrienne and Brittney are supposed to come a bit later.
"Dad can I go moshing?" Jakob asks eagerly.
"I don't think so," I say messing up his hair.
"Awe c'mon," he pleads.
"What about me?" Joseph asks.
"Yes, but not today," I reply.
"Why not?"
"It's not fair to your brother."
"So when can I go moshing?" he whines.
"When you come here with your friends and stuff," I mutter as we find the closest place to the stage without falling into the mosh pit.

"So what if Amy's band really sucks, do we tell you she's great anyways or do we tell the truth?" Tre pesters.
"Let's stick with the 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all' rule. Okay?" I suggest.
"Fine with me," Mike says putting Stella on his shoulders so she has a better view of the stage.

We watch a few bands before Adie and Brittney come and join us.
"How's it going?" Brittney asks.
"Like one good band so far, the rest were heavy metal crap bands," Mike mutters.
"Oh so we didn't miss much," Adie says coming to stand next to me.
"Mom, can I go moshing?" Jakob pipes up.
"Not until you're in middle school, even then," Adie says warningly.
"Jeez, I'll never go moshing," Jakob complains.
"Awe, don't say that buddy," Tre says as he lifts Frankito up. "You'll be in middle school soon enough unless you flunk big time."
"Yeah thanks," Jakob says sarcastically.

"And now we have Tungsten," the announcer says as he walks off stage.
"That's Amy's band, right?" Joey asks.
"Yeah." I say as we all start to cheer. The four band members walk on stage, Amy with the Blue replica, a girl who must be Gabby on acoustic guitar, a blonde guy on bass and a guy with long black hair on drums.

"Teenage Lobotomy!" Amy yells into the mic before the four of them start playing. "Lobotomy! Lobotomy!" she starts to sing into the mic.
"Oh, she's good," Tre says nodding. The next song was probably one of their own because I didn't recognize it. It was really well put together.
"And now for our final song," she says after revving up the crowd, "We have a song called Minority, our personal favorite for a long time. Let's just hope we do it justice," she says as the rest of her band cheer. "I want to be the minority; I don't need your authority . . . . ."
"Hey that's your song," Estelle says from Mike's shoulders.
"Yeah Hero, it is." Mike says proudly.

Tungsten walks off stage and a new band appears.
"Jakob and Frankito look tired, I'll take them home," Adie says as she takes Frankito from Tre and Jakob lets go of my arm to go with her. "Stella, Joey are you going to stay?"
"Yeah," they both say at the same time.
"Alright," Adie says leaving as Brittney follows.
"I want to talk to the drummer, he's worthy of my time," Tre says dramatically.
"After, there's only like two bands left," Mike says rolling his eyes.
"Hey Dad, can I try moshing now?" Joey pleads.
"Fine, but stick close to me, I don't want you getting trampled," I say as we walk down to the mosh pit.

A few minutes later Mike, Stella and Tre join us.
"Oh yeah!" Tre yells as he gets in the swing of things. "Oh how I've missed a good mosh." I'm shocked at how well someone as petite as Estelle can mosh so fiercely.
"She can really mosh," I say to Mike.
"Well she learns from the best," he says laughing
"Stop, you're making me blush," Tre says in a girly voice.
"No, it's me. Asshole," Mike says rolling his eyes. Tre suddenly disappears and we continue to mosh until the final band ends their song.

"Where's Tre?" I ask looking around.
"Uh, at the bar." Mike points out over the crowd who's filing out.
"Damn flirt," I mutter as I realize he's having a nice "chat" with the bar tender.
"What? Where's Tre?" Stella asks looking around.
"At the bar, trying to get a girlfriend," I say in amusement.
"With the bartender?" Joey asks stepping on his tip-toes.
"Tre! We're going back stage now!" Mike yells. Tre just waves us away.

We push through the crowd to the stage door. We make our way past all the bands we saw earlier to the side stage where Tungsten is packing up their stuff.
"Hey!" I call out. "You were great."
"Thanks," Amy calls back. "Sorry about ruining Minority."
"Ruining it? You did it justice," Mike says proudly.
"Really?" Amy says in disbelief. "But I messed up the first time we played the chorus."
"I didn't notice," I say casually, I really didn't.
"So it was good?" Gabby asks putting slinging her guitar case over her back.
"What did I miss?" Tre asks storming in.
"Nice of you to join us," Joey mutters.
"Hey I got her number, so it's all good," Tre mutters as he runs off to talk to Tungsten's drummer.
"Is that typical Tre?" Amy asks laughing.
"Yeah, just about," I say laughing.
"So can we meet your band mates?" Mike asks casually.
"Sure," she says turning around. "Well this is Gabby, on bass we have Markey and on drums we have Skid."
"Hey," I say making a small wave. "So do you guys want to have an after-party at my place?"
"Uh sure," Skid says casually.
"Can we have beer?" Markey asks smirking.
"I don't think so," I say laughing.
"C'mon," he pleads.
"How old are you kid?" I ask laughing.
"Seventeen," he mutters.
"Keep dreaming, that's not even legal outside this country," I say laughing, "You still want to come?"
"Okay," he mutters.

"So what kind of name is Skid?" I whisper.
"His really name is Samuel," she snickers.
"That sucks," Joey mutters.
"Ahh okay," I say as we walk out to the car. "And what's the deal with that Markey guy?"
"Uh I've known him since seventh grade, he's harmless," she mutters.
"Are you two?"
"No, just friends. Always have been," she says shrugging as she puts her guitar in the trunk.
