Three Jokers for Three Queens, chapter 6
Tre and Asland sat on Asland's couch. They had been watching TV for three hours. Asland looked over from her end of the couch to see Tre asleep. Then a song that Asland recognized started playing. It was a song that she had written for the band and it seemed that Tre had it as his ringtone on his phone. It was called Flatline.
"Because you flatlined to me! Because you're dead now to me! Because you flatlined to me! Because you turned me away, to the remains of the day, now i'm pulling you under with me! Because you flatlined!"
Silence.
"Because you flatlined to me! Because you're de-"
Tre's eyes slowly opened. "What the hell?" He realized his phone was ringing. He shuffled around in his pocket. "Damn phone." he said as it kept ringing.
"Hello? What.......no.....I swear he wanted to.......oh shut-up........i did not.......what the hell are you talking about? No I swear he voulenteered.......why are you calling me for this? This is stupid...yes it is.......I'm hanging up because you called me for a stupid reason.....what!? This is retarded.....oh my g-.......for that!? I didn't do anything.....I swear he wanted to..ask him......fine...this is so gay......yes it is......Claudia.......Claudia.......CLAUDIA.....stop freaking out....." Asland heard yelling from the phone. She couldn't understand what Claudia was saying but she knew it wasn't good.
"WHAT!?" said Tre bolting upright. "Claudia.....that's really stupid.....you can't do that....that's not true.....no i'm not!" his voice became softer, "Claudia...please...don't tak-" Tre looked at his phone. Claudia had hung up on him. Tre's eyes were wide. He just sat there for a second, mortified. Whatever had happened wasn't good.
"Tre?" asked Asland softly. Tre just stared at his phone. "Tre? What happened...are you ok?"
Silence.
Asland was getting nervous. She didn't like silence, it was creepy. Especially since Tre wouldn't move. He just sat staring at his phone.
"Tre, please say something..." Asland begged, now she was worried. Asland got up and slowly walked over to the side of the couch where Tre was. She sat down next to him. Tre slowly turned his head. Asland noticed that there was a thin stream on his cheek, where a tear had fallen down his face. Asland put her hand on Tre's shoulder. "Tre, what happened?" she asked a little more firmly now.
"She said I was a bad father.....she said that I wasn't aloud to see Frankito, and she's kicking me out of the house....." he said slowly. "Am....I really a bad father?" he whispered to himself. Another tear coming from his eye.
Right then it felt as if someone had taken a wrench and turned it all the way around Asland's heart. She felt so bad for Tre. It was like all of the life was sucked out of him. Asland put her arms around Tre pulling him into a hug. He started to cry harder. He completely broke down and cried into Asland's shoulder. Asland just sat there holding him.
It was dark outside, it was about 11:30. Asland sat there holding Tre listening to him cry. The only thing she could do was let him cry and pet his head. After about an hour of listening to Tre cry into Asland's shirt she realized that he was asleep. Asland thought that this was unbelievably cute. She realized that sleeping was Tre's defense machanism. He was a like a little boy. When little kids got in trouble or when they were sad then they would fall asleep as their own built in defense mechanism so that they could calm down.
Tre was sound asleep. He was still being hugged by Asland. Asland watched him sleep for a second realizing that he WAS cute when he slept. He looked so perfect, so innocent. He didn't look like he did an hour ago when he was crying his heart out, but his breathing was still irregular. When he breathed in, it was sharp and choppy, and when he exhaled it was like a reverse gasp.
Asland realized that Tre had no where to go now. He could probably stay with Billie Joe or Mike, but Asland knew that after a while they would get annoyed with him. They would obviously try to help him considering that he was their friend but he would need a LOT of sympathy and he would only be able to get it from a girl. Asland came to a conclusion that until he had gotten over it atleast a little and until he set up a place to stay that he would stay with her. Asland thought about what Claudia had said. If Tre was really that bad of a father then he wouldn't have been so broken up about losing Frankito.
Asland felt tired. She wanted to sleep but she couldn't go upstairs and go to bed....not with Tre like this. She decided just to stay with him the night on the couch. Asland started pet Tre's head again and as she did his breathing became regular and he buried his face further into Asland's shoulder. Asland closed her eyes, and slowly fell asleep.

Asland opened her eyes to a soft light coming from the giant windows in her lounge, that aloud the sunlight to pour in freely. Tre was still asleep on Asland. Asland's stomach rumbled. She slowly lifted Tre off of her and got up from the couch. She stretched and walked into the kichen. Asland spotted a box of pocky sitting on the counter. Pocky was another japanese food she loved. It was thin biscuit sticks covered in chocolate icing. This was usually Asland's freakfast. She pulled out a stick of pocky and started gnawing on it. She walked over to her fridge and poured herself some milk.
Asland sat at her counter chowing down on pocky and drinking milk. She was extremely hungry. She heard shuffling behind her and she turned around. She watched Tre get up and look around, obviously confused about where he was until he saw Asland sitting at the counter. He stumbled over to her.
"Morning." she said, deciding to cut out good considering how bad it probably was.
"Good morning," Tre said, smiling and sitting down next to her. Asland looked at Tre funny. Why was he smiling? Did he even remember what happened the night before? "What the hell are you eating now?" asked Tre grabbing the box and reading it. "Pocky?" he took out a stick and ate it. "Wow this is some pretty good stuff." he said. Asland just stared at him. "What?" he asked noticing Asland's staring.
"Tre...do you even remember what happened last night?" she asked confused.
"Sure I do," he said taking another stick of pocky out of the box. " I just figured that there's no reason to let this ruin my life, i mean it's not like I will NEVER see Frankito again, it's just I figured that I should try to be happy about the stuff that I still have, plus it would annoy the hell out of everyone if i just moped around all day." he sat there for a second. "Oh crap....where am I gonna stay?"
"I already thought that out, you're staying with me whether you like it or not." said Asland. Tre looked at her.
"Well, ok...thanks....are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure, I'm the only person who you wouldn't annoy the hell out of because i'm just as wierd as you are, BUT stop stealing my food." said Aslandsmiling and taking the pocky back form Tre. Tre laughed.
"OK, well it's your funeral." he said laughing. Asland ran a hand through Tre's hair. He squealed. Asland smiled.
"So do you need to go by your house and get your stuff?" asked Asland.
"Yeah, I should get it today. Could you drive me over there later?" Asland's eyes grew wide.
"Are you telling me that you walked to my house!? But it only took you like twenty minutes!"
"That's cause I ran."
"Tre, no sane person would sprint like four miles to some person's house, shouldn't you be dead or something?"
"Well i'm just not that sane of a person. Plus, I was excited to see you." he said picking at the counter. Asland smiled. She ran her hand through his hair again. He squealed and Asland smiled to herself.
"Because you flatlined to me! Because you're dead now to me! Because you flatlined to me! Because you turned me away, to the remains of the day, now i'm pulling you under with me! Because you flatlined!"
