Gill's P.O.V
Gill woke up on her first day of elementary school feeling excited and scared all at the same time. She wished that Billie Joe would be there with her but he was probably still mad at her. She was all alone again in a strange, foreign country, far from the place that she called home.
"Ready to go?" Gill's dad asked. She nodded and they quietly made their way towards the car.
"Nervous?" Gill nodded again, not saying a word. She had a horrible feeling that it wasn't going to be a very good day for her. She had been looking forward to starting school but now that she had to go alone without Billie Joe that excitement had turned into fear.
They arrived at the school and were greeted by a young, zealous women who smiled brightly at each child that arrived. When all the children had got there she gathered everyone round to introduce herself.
"Good morning everyone." she started in a patronising tone. "I'm you're teacher Ms. Gallagher and I just know that we're all going to have so much fun this year!" she continued with great enthusiasm. Gill couldn't stand her already.
"Now, there are some jigsaws and games set up for you all to play with so why don't you go ahead and start making friends." She clapped her hands as she said this and then sat back as all the kids made their way towards the toys. Gill moved to the nearest thing near her which happened to be a toy farm with plastic animals. She picked up the sheep dog and found it be rather quite cute.
"Can I play with you?" a voice asked confidently. Gill looked up and saw a girl with blonde, curly hair.
"Sure." she replied and the girl sat down. Gill smiled and her and introduced herself.
"I'm Erin." the girl said and they two of them began to play and chat happily with one another.
Before they know it the bell was ringing for home time and everyone's parents were waiting out in the hall. Gill and Erin walked towards the door together.
"It was fun playing with you today." Gill told her. Erin said it was the same for her then as though she had just remembered said,
"It's my birthday on Friday and I'm having a party, would you like to come?"
"That would be great!" Gill was really happy, she had now realised that there had been nothing to be frightened of that morning, sure she wished that Billie Joe was there but she was glad that she had a friend with her after all.
Erin told her mom about Gill so she headed over to her and her dad to make arrangements for her attending the party that Friday night. After things were sorted they began to make their way home.
"Told you that there would be nothing to be scared about, you seemed to have made a good friend there."
"I did." Gill answered as she skipped along, happy as can be.
