A loss, Then A Gain. (A Billie Joe story), chapter 4
Billie just stood there in shock.
"I'll leave you a few minutes with Mr. Dirnt." said Dr. Larence, then he left.
"Mike!" Billie sobbed.
He fell into Victoria's arms, crying his heart out. Victoria was crying too. She had been friends with Mike for a long time too.
"Why did it have to be Mike? Why couldn't it have been Jenni!?" cried Tre.
Then Dr. Larence came back in.
"I have more news about Mr. Dirnt." he said.
"His name is Mike." said Tre.
"Oh, right. Sorry. Anyway, Mike's condition gives him a chance of living equal to 50%.'' said the doctor.
"So there's hope!?" asked Billie.
Dr. Larence nodded.
"If we do emergency surgery, his chance of living may increase."
"And that means.....?" asked Tre.
"Mike will have a greater chance of living." said Victoria, with Billie still in her arms.
Tre smiled.
"So, do you want the surgery to be performed?" asked the doctor.
"Yes." they all said.
Dr. Larence nodded again, then went to get some nurses.
"There's hope...." sighed Billie, leaning into Victoria.
"Oh, get a freakin' room!" yelled Tre.
"Really funny Tre."
They all turned around to see Mike smiling at them.
"MIKE!" said Billie.
He ran over to hug Mike.
"Uh, Billie? I can't breathe!" wispered Mike as Billie hugged him.
Tre grinned. Mike was back. Billie let go of Mike to let him breathe.
"Mike Dirnt?" asked a nurse, who had just come in.
"That's my name, an' don't wear it out." said Mike.
The nurse got Mike in a wheelchair, then took him into surgery. Billie started crying again.
Victoria's point of view:
"Oh god. I hope Mike is ok. And I hate to see Billie cry. It's breaking my heart. Maybe I can cheer him up tonight."
Dr. Larence came in again.
"Alright, Mike is getting ready for surgery. After it, he will have to stay in the hospital tonight, then he can go home later tonight." he said.
Tre, Victoria, and Billie started to leave. In the waiting room, they saw Jenni. She was sitting on a bench, crying. She saw them.
"Oh god! Is Mike alright!" she said, running towards them.
"You bitch! Mike got hurt and you're in here, wondering about him! You could have least fucking visited him!" yelled Billie.
Then a nurse came.
"Excuse me sir, there are children in here." she told Billie.
Billie glared at Jenni, then left. Tre and Victoria followed him.
