Oh My God, You Like Her? But I Thought You Were Enemies!, chapter 8

Kara sighed as she walked to school that morning. It was a gray, disgusting, cold, wet, rainy day. Her shoes were getting soaked, and water somehow weaved its way into her socks. With every step she heard a strange squish, and felt it too. As she approached the school gates, she saw Goerge, with a broken nose, a black eye, and a bruise on his arm. She tried to hide a satisfied smile as she walked by him, but ended up grinning.

Angie waved to her and beckoned her over. Billie smiled at her, and Kara almost right away felt uncomfortable and awkward. Instead of shying away, she slowly walked over to Billie, Tre, Mike, and Angie. Tre and Mike smiled at each other, glancing at Billie and Kara. They tried to do it secretively, but it was very hard not to notice.

"Hi you guys!" Kara said, trying to sound like nothing had ever happened. "Math this morning, eh?"

"Yeah," Billie muttered.

"Um, sure," Mike mumbled.

"Right," Tre murmured.

"Hey, what's with you guys?" Angie piped up. "Aren't you stoked about the party toni-" Angie stopped and looked around. "Oops, Kara, you weren't supposed to..."

"What party?" Kara asked, oblivious.

"Maggie's party...tonight," Angie said cautiously. "I have to go...study." And with that she ran off.

Just as they were speaking of her, guess who stepped up. The most preppy person of all the popular people, Maggie. She was on the cheerleading squad, the girl's sports teams, and in all the school clubs. The teachers adored her, and she was cheeky. She got away with everything, but out of school and before class she was the biggest bitch ever. She had long dark hair, and blue eyes. She had the biggest crush on Billie Joe. As she stepped up, she flashed a grin at a disgusted Billie Joe, and frowned at Kara.

"Hey, Billie!" she said. "You coming to the party tonight?"

"Yeah...with..."

"Sorry I couldn't invite your little friends," she said, motioning to Kara, Tre, and Mike. Mike glanced at Tre, rolling his eyes. "But...well, never mind. Angie is really excited over it, I'm hoping."

"Yah, she's..."

"So anyways, sit with me in class?" she asked, fluttering her eyelashes.

"Uh, actually..."

"See yah there!" she said, waving and running to her friends.

As Billie Joe stared blankly at the spot where she had just stood, Mike and Tre burst into laughter.

"God Billie Joe, two times this week...you're seriously the biggest pussy ever!" Mike declared.

"Am not!" Billie said, blushing.

"Man, you're the sheriff of vagina town. Congrats!" Tre announced, loudly.

"You guys are embarrassing me in front of..." Billie couldn't finish. He looked up, noticing Kara was gone anyways.

** That night **

Billie Joe stood in front of his mirror, sighing. He didn't really want to go to this "party" but he had too. It was mostly just the guys on the football team, guys on the basketball team, and Maggie's friends.
But maybe that would be a great place to break up with Angie, right? She was always so bitchy.

"Come on, love. We have to get going!" Angie called form the next room over. She had been there for ten minutes while Billie Joe ran to get ready.

Billie Joe breathed in, grabbed Angie's hand, and walked out of the house. No sooner were they outside did a group of girls walk up to them and start to socialize with Angie, telling her how lucky she was to have such a hot boyfriend.

As they noisily chattered, they approached Maggie's house, and the door was opened. A lot of people were there, but Angie decided she wanted to just hang out with the girls. She sat down on the couch, and Maggie and her friends started talking. Billie stood up and walked away, hoping Angie wouldn't notice.

"Where are you going?" Angie asked.

"Nowhere," Billie Joe sat down again and listened to them talk.

Soon they were playing a game of truth or dare. It was Billie's turn, and Maggie asked him truth or dare.

"Okay, Billie, truth or dare?"

"Umm... dare," Billie said, grinning.

Everybody made an "ooh" sound as Maggie slyly smiled. Of course, it wasn't much of a smile. A crooked mouth defect maybe.

"Okay...I dare you...to call that loser Kara, and invite her to the party...but give her the wrong address!" Maggie said, pointing to her hot pink phone.

Billie Joe gulped as everyone smiled and laughed about the idea. He had promised himself to play no more tricks on her.

"Come on, you hate her anyways, right?" Jennifer, Maggie's friend asked.

"Well..." he couldn't blow his cover. "Yeah, but that's really..."

"That's so mean!" Angie said, standing up.

"So?" Maggie said. She tossed Billie the phone.

"Do it, Billie, and I'll never talk to you again," Angie crossed her arms.

PERFECT! Billie Joe said to himself. Now she would dump him. He smirked and dialled Kara's number...

** Kara's P.O.V **

I was sitting in my room, reading the English assigned book, when my cell phone rang. I picked it up, flipped it open and put it on speaker.

"Hey, Kara talking."

"Hey, it's Billie!"

My heart raced. It was Billie Joe!

"What do you want?" I asked coolly, trying to sound a bit harsh.

"You to come to Maggie's party. Go to the dead end street and into the field, Maggie's house is in there."

I smiled and said bye sweetly, hung up the phone and got ready. Billie told me to get there at exactly 9:00.

** Back to Maggie's. **

Billie Joe frowned. She had been really nice. Now she would hate him.

"Why at nine?" Jennifer asked.

"The sprinklers," Billie said unevenly.

"Billie your awful! That's it, we aren't going out anymore, and I'm going to stop her," Angie cried, pulling on her coat.

Billie Joe raced after her, not caring about breaking up, but wanting to stop Kara as well. He ran to the dead end street. On minute till nine...

** Kara's P.O.V **

I walked over to the dead end field. I didn't see a house. Maybe it was in the middle of the field? I ran into the field, a bit excited. This was a great chance to get to know people, right? I stood in the middle, peering out. No house.

No house.

I screamed and stomped my foot down. That asshole! That prick!
And of course, my clock just beeped to nine. The sprinklers turned on.
I should have known.

"Kara!" I heard a voice call. I turned around and walked out of the field, muddy and wet and angry and ready to kill Billie Joe Armstrong. I saw who it was, Angie and Billie. I wanted to kill them both. "Kara, I'm sorry, it was Billie...I swear I dumped him..."

"You two fuck off, leave me alone, and never even GLANCE at me again or I'll kill you both," I said, shaking. Billie looked really guilty and sorry, but I didn't want to give him time to apologize. I just walked away.
