Oh My God, You Like Her? But I Thought You Were Enemies!, chapter 9
Kara's P.O.V
"Why would he do that to me? I never did anything to him!" I cried. I was sitting on my floor, crying into the phone. Mike had called me and told me BIllie was really sorry, that he was dared and that he did it so that Angie would break up with him. But I didn't really care. I was just so pissed! My eyes filled with tears again, which hesitated to spill over but did anyways when I thought of how mean that was. "Why would he do that? Why is he so nice to you and so mean to me?"
Mike cleared his throat.
"Kara, trust me, he wouldn't do it if it wasn't for his bad guy image. He fought with you on the first day, and so now in order to keep up his look, he had to be mean. But he promised to never do anything mean to you again, he's trying really hard."
"You just want to smooth things over because he's your friend," I cried.
"Yah, well, he was an asshole, I'll admit, but he can't help it."
"HE CAN SO!"
"If he doesn't, he'll get beaten up, like he used to."
My heart nearly stopped.
Oh.
Well he was still an asshole, but it wasn't his fault. But it was. I had a small battle with myself, and then decided it would just be better to not even bother. I simply wouldn't talk to him or Angie or anyone and ask my mom to transfer me, and leave all of this behind. I didn't want to hurt Billie and I didn't want to get hurt.
"Please just let him apologize, Kara, he really likes you."
"No he doesn't."
"Yah, trust me, I've known him since we were like ten. I mean really, I can tell when its like, but he's never been like this before," Mike argued. And I knew he would argue until he was blue in the face.
"I'll try..."
I hung up on Mike, and went to the washroom. I washed my face and got ready for my Saturday. I was planning to go to the Gilman to watch "Sweet Children" play. Well, maybe he was an asshole but he could sure as hell play guitar! He had talent, I'll give him that.
I guess that was the afternoon that brought us together.
** Normal P.O.V, Mike's house. **
Mike dropped the phone down and looked at his anxious friend. Billie and Tre were sitting across from Mike. Mike glared at Billie.
"You really hurt her, Bill," Mike said, shaking his head. "You really, really did."
"But will she forgive me?"
"I don't know. She wants to hear you apologize. She's coming to the show tonight, maybe you can catch her after we play."
Billie Joe stood up quickly, and started to pace.
"Oh come on! It's packed at the Gilman, and besides, how will I find her in all those people anyways?"
"Well this is your fucking problem, Billie!" Mike cried.
BIllie Joe hung his head.
** THAT NIGHT **
Billie Joe started up the first chords to their newest song, 409 in your coffeemaker. Billie Joe had been bored in class, and put 409, a very strong cleaner in his bitchy teachers coffee. She was puking for hours, and when she found the empty bottle at Billie's feet she had suspended him. That was a month before Kara came, but he remembered it and thought it was funny.
The song was magic, everything fit perfect, and unlike the band before, "The Weasels", who had a scratchy-voiced singer, a squeaky bass player, and a horrible drummer, they're instruments were perfectly tuned and great sounding.
Kara was in the crowd, and Billie Joe could spot her from the stage. She saw him looking at her, and instead of bugging her, he looked away and played harder then before. She smiled at the rest of the band, but seemed to ignore Billie. That hurt.
When the song was finished, The crowd chanted for more. Mike and Tre started up "Sweet Children", another favorite. That one went just as well. When they finished, the crowd screamed, and Sweet Children ran off the stage.
Tre and Mike jumped off of the stage and ran to Kara. Billie Joe followed cautiously. Mike saw Billie approaching.
"Um, Kara, Tre and me are...um..."
"Going to have sex!" Tre cried, covering up, also seeing Billie. Kara jumped backwards. Tre and Mike ran off laughing.
"Hey Kara!" Billie cried. Kara spun around.
"Hi..."
"Look, I'm sorry, I promise, I'll never do anything like that..."
"It's okay, I forgive you. But I don't ever want to talk to you again, so you leave me alone, and don't even say hi or I swear..." Kara said over the crowd. Billie Joe could see tears forming.
"I'm sorry, I just want to start again..."
"You had two chances and you fucking blew them..."
Kara turned and stormed out. Billie Joe followed her down the street, it was a cold night out, but perfect weather.
"STOP FOLLOWING ME!"
"I'm sorry!"
"I know you are."
Billie Joe put a hand on her shoulder. Kara frowned at him. She was about to say something when a click was heard and a gun was pointed at Billie Joe's head. Kara almost screamed, but stopped herself. She put her hands over her mouth and grabbed Billie's hand.
"Okay you two, into the ally. NOW!" Barked a voice they both knew.
Kara slowly made her way into the ally, trying to protect Billie as best she could. When they got there, she slid down the wall, and grabbed her knees.
"What do you want?" Billie asked.
"Get up," the person ordered, shouting at Kara. Kara stood up quickly. "You both thought you could get away, but your so wrong! You beat me up, but I recovered," Goerge said, revealing himself. "And now I'm going to kill both of you. So ha."
"Oh don't you give up?" Kara asked. "Seriously, man."
Goerge smiled.
"You can go first."
Billie Joe protectively grabbed her hand and glared at Goerge. Kara knew it wasn't the time, but she was getting small shivers down her spine. Yah, she liked him. Okay, he was an asshole...but he was sorry, right? If he truly hated her, he wouldn't be protecting her now...
"Hey...Goerge. You know why I'm not scared of that gun?" Billie Joe asked.
"Oh why is that?"
"Cause it ain't got no bullets. Go ahead. Shoot something."
Goerge smirked and turned around, and Billie smiled at Kara. BIllie Joe grabbed Goerge by surprise, and Goerge dropped his gun. He turned Goerge towards Kara.
"I'll tell you what, Kara, you can beat him up all you want, and then we send him to the police, and you forgive me. Deal?"
Kara turned as if to walk away, and Goerge sighed in relief. But instead, she whizzed around, punched him and started beating him as hard as she could. Once Goerge was down, Billie called the police, and Kara shook Billie's hand, telling him it was a deal. Billie Joe grinned at Kara and put her arm around her. They waited for the police, who took Goerge without question, and left. Soon they were on their way back to the GIlman. Before they went in the doors, Kara stopped Billie, and looked into his eyes. Billie saw she was crying, and wrapped his arms around her in a comforting way.
"Kara, please don't cry."
"I'm sorry...I was such a bitch."
"Yah well I was an asshole, and your cute when your mad."
Billie took her chin under his hand and turned her face towards him.
"We dont have to if you dont want..." he said softly, but was cut off by a harsh kiss. When they stopped for air, Kara smiled. Billie gaped.
"HOLY shit, where the hell did you learn to do THAT to a guy?" Billie asked. Kara smiled and laughed, and they held hands as they walked inside.
