King For A Day, chapter 2
We followed Green Day off the stage, to the back stage area. We sat down on the couch in front the couch that Green Day just sat down on. Me, Nick, Joel and Adam just sat there still in shock from the announcement.
After a few minutes, Billie Joe finally broke the silence, "Wow, you guys are unbelievable, to be able to play music like that, and so young". I went red, I still couldn't believe Billie Joe...THE Billie Joe was speaking to me, and thought our music was GOOD! I giggled and said, "Ah...thanks, we've been playing together for two years now, but didn't think our music would be this good, thanks for the opportunity". Billie Joe smiled, and replied, "No probs, you guys deserve to make a record and get your name out there". "How old are you guys by the way", Tre said. "Well me, Joel and Adam are 16 and Michelle's 15", Nick replied. "Wow...holy crap", Tre managed to reply.
There was a black limo parked just outside the front gates of our school. We walked out of the gates behind Green Day. With great difficulty as the WHOLE school had crowded around the gates, like they've never seen a limo before. But as Green Day walked out of the gates everyone was yelling and cheering (there were even some teenies trying to get Billie's attention). We followed Green Day inside the limo. All four of us gasped as inside the limo was immaculate. There were eight, shiny, black leather seats, there was cream coloured carpet on the floor and the ceiling, and a fridge which was filled with alcohol, fizzy drink and good 'ol H2O. In the limo on the way to the recording studio we talked the whole way. Billie, Tre and Mike had a few beers and offered us some. Which Adam, Joel and Nick accepted, but I don't like beer so I turned it down (not just because we were underage...that never stopped me before).
We were laughing hysterically at one of Tre's jokes as we pulled up outside the recording studio. We hopped out and make our way to the studio. Mike showed us the recording area and then took us into a room to the side. Where they kept their instruments. Mike picked up his bass and began to play a few cords. Joel who was a HUGE fan of Mike's sat next to him. Mike handed the bass over to him. Joel started to play When I Come Around, just as Billie and Tre walked in the room. Billie had his guitar Blue in one hand, and sat next to me on the couch. He let me hold Blue. Wow this had to be THE best moment of me life...i thought to myself. Adam sat down on the other side of Billie and began strumming his guitar to one of our songs (Life). Billie let me play Blue for a while. While Nick and Tre were in deep conversation, then Tre decided to let Nick play his drums. We played for about half a hour or so, until Mike said, "So you guys wanna go into the studio and have your first EVER recording session". Me, Nick, Adam and Joel looked up from our instruments and looked at each other with smiles spread across our faces.
