Whispering Songs In My Ear, chapter 3
"Angie, I love you... I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" I was a little he'sitant. I wasn't sure if I was ready for this. Mike saw this.
"I want to fulfill my second promise to you." I looked down at my promise ring Mike gave to me awhile back.
[flashback]
"Here, I have something for you." Mike said while I was sitting on his lap.
"You know you don't have to buy me things." Mike and I were only teenagers, but were close as ever. Always cherishing every moment together.
"I know, but this one is special." Mike slipped a ring on my left ring finger, "It's a promise ring. I promise to you that I will fulfill your dream of going to Sicily and watch the sunset and my second promise is that one day I will marry you!" I was so happy I almost cried. I kissed Mike and let him hold me for so long.
[end of flashback]
I was so confused. I had no idea if I was ready.
"Mike, I'm not sure if I'm ready for this."
"It's alright." He said with a sad look on his face.
"I'm sorry." And I got up and ran toward the direction of the hotel. I couldn't stay here, I had too much to think about! I got into the hotel, I was crying at this point. Anne saw me and ran toward me.
"Angie, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, I'm okay. I just can't stay here right now. I have to leave." So, I ran to my room and packed as much as I could and headed for the airport. Meanwhile, Mike just got to the hotel.
"Anne, where's Angie?"
"She said she couldn't stay here, so she packed and left for the airport. Why, what happened?"
"How long ago did she leave?"
"Not long. What happened?" Without answering Mike ran out of the hotel and headed for the airport.
"Anne, what was that about?" Billie asked walking up.
"I don't know, but Mike is running after Angie."
"Oh, shit!" Billie started to run after Mike and Anne followed. Angie paid for a ticket back to San Fran and was in line to aboard the plane. Angie handed the lady her ticket and passport and headed in the tunnel to the plane. Mike burst in the airport with Billie and Anne behind him.
"Angie, wait!" Mike screamed, but he was to late. Angie had already gotten to far to hear, she was on the plane already. Mike fell to his knees.
"Will someone tell what is going on?" Anne said looking around.
"I asked Angie to marry me, but she just didn't know, she was confused, so she got up and ran." Mike said crying.
"Oh, I'm so sorry." Anne said comforting Mike along with Billie.
Meanwhile, Angie was sitting on the plane still crying looking at the ring. Mike, Billie, and Anne walked back to the hotel and Mike went straight to his room while Billie and Anne explained to everyone what happened. Angie got off the plane at San Fran and went to her home. She walked in and cried for a long time. Along with Mike crying in his hotel room. Later that night everyone decided it would be best if they called the tour off and headed home. Mike decided to himself maybe it be best if Angie and him just stay apart for awhile to cool off, but what really happened is that little awhile part grew longer.
