Rachina, Green Day And I, chapter 25
******IN THREE DAYS TIME*****
I had spent the last three days bumming around the city, smoking pot, drinking to the extreme, and sleeping on trains. I smelled heavily of alcohol, marijuana and other things I couldn't identify. I couldn't take living on the streets anymore. I racked my brain for someone who wouldn't turn me away. I knew it was a long shot, but maybe, just maybe, Billie Joe would listen to me. I searched around the car lot to find my car. I parked it there several days ago, and didn't have a very good memory from all the drugs and booze. I drove to his house, and parked my car. I went over in my mind what I would say. I didn't take my bags out of the car, just in case he said no. I finally gave up on deciding what to say, I'd probably just forget it anyway. I walked up the path to his front door, and hesitated before knocking. What if he didn't love me anymore? What if he wasn't home? What if he was mad at me? All these questions kept running through my head, but I went ahead with it anyway, and knocked. After a couple of seconds, he answered the door.
"Hey Kym."
"Hi." I said.
"Why are you here?" he asked.
"Well, I sorta left home, and I've got nowhere else to go." I said, looking deep into his eyes.
"Ok, do you want to stay here?" he asked, taking a step forward.
"Yes please. Actually, I left three days ago, and I've been sleeping on trains for the past four nights." I said.
"Oh my god!" he said, pulling me tight.
"It's no big deal, I've done it before." I said.
"Really?" he said.
"Yea, when I was 12. I got pissed at my 'parents' so I packed up my bags and left for a couple of days."
"Seriously?" he asked.
"Yes. I wouldn't lie to you!" I said. He leaned in to kiss me, but I stopped him. He looked at me strangely, and I said;
"Well, I stink! I've been living on the streets for 3 days! Can I please shower first?"
"Yeah, sure." He said, looking relieved. I walked to the bathroom, and hopped in the shower. I scrubbed my skin, and repeatedly washed my hair, until the stench of drugs and alcohol was gone. I dried off, and wrapped my towel around me. I didn't want to get changed into my old clothes cuz they also stunk, so I went to my car to get my bags. Yes, it was a very stupid idea, going outside in broad daylight, wearing nothing but a towel. Luckily, no one was out, and no one saw me. I grabbed my bags, and ran back inside. I picked out a fresh outfit, and changed into that. I realised I had been wearing the same clothes for 3 days, and I had to wash them. I put them in a plastic bag, and decided I would deal with them later. I walked around the house to find Billie Joe sitting on his bed. I walked over, and sat next to him. I smiled at him, and he hugged me. When we pulled apart, I said,
"Can I please take a nap? I really need sleep." I had seen myself in the mirror, and I had seriously dark bags under my eyes.
"Ok." He said. I wriggled under the covers, and rolled onto my side. Billie Joe lay next to me, with his arm around me. He held me close, and I smiled to myself. I quickly fell into a long, dreamless sleep.
+-*-+ Billie Joe's POV +-*-+
She was so beautiful, even when she looked like this. When she first came to my place today, her hair was everywhere, dry and frizzy, her face was really pale, she had black bags under her eyes, and she looked like she hadn't eaten in days. She smelled of alcohol and marijuana, but that could have been from sleeping on trains, or hanging out in the park all day long. I got up, and went to the living room, parked myself down on the couch, and switched on the telly. A Simpsons rally was on cable, one of my favourite shows. I sat, and watched for hours, until it was dark outside, and I needed food. I got up, walked to the kitchen, and pulled a random container out of the kitchen. I opened it, and saw it was ready sliced cheese squared. I shrugged, and sniffed it to see if it was ok. It smelled fine, so I ate some. It was ok, there wasn't much taste to it. I carried the container back to TV, and saw Kym sitting on the couch.
"Hi," I said.
"Hey," she said, yawning. "Thanks for letting me crash here."
"Anytime." I said, smiling.
"Is that food?" she asked, eyeing the plastic container in my hand.
"Maybe... " I said, raising one eyebrow. She laughed, and said;
"Gimme some!"
"Ok, sure." I offered her the cheese.
"Cheese?" she said, pulling her hand back.
"Yeah! Couldn't be bothered cooking." I said.
"Meh?" she shrugged, and took a slice. "I can't taste it!" she said, stuffing it in her mouth.
"Yeah, I don't think it's real cheese." I said, laughing.
"Well, it's still food, and I haven't eaten in ages!" she said, taking another slice.
+-*-+ Kym's POV +-*-+
I finished my slice of cheese, and smiled at Billie Joe.
"Do you have any paper and scissors?" I asked.
"Yes, why?" he said, looking at me weirdly.
"I wanna show you something." I smiled. He went into his computer room, and returned with several sheets of white paper, scissors, and a pencil. I placed them on the dinning table, and sat down. I cut the paper into a square, and then cut that into several squares, until there were about 60 little square on the table. I cut another two, normal sized squares, and put them aside. I picked up one of the little squares, and started folding, with Billie Joe watching be the entire time. When was done, I had turned the paper into a miniature crane. I place it in the palm of my hand, and blew it at Billie Joe across the table. It floated down onto to table in his direction. I smiled, and he picked it up, examining it.
"How the hell did you do that?!?" he said, squinting at the tiny bird.
"I'll show you." I said, and passed him one of the bigger pieces of paper. More than an hour later, we were sitting at the table, which was littered in several paper items. Cranes, jumping frogs, flowers, and other origami creations were everywhere, and there were many of Billie Joe's people holding hands he cut out. He made people, and I made bananas. I laughed at his first attempt at a crane, and he laughed at my first attempt at a person, and that's why I made bananas instead. Bananas with hands, feet, and faces. I smiled at how we occupied ourselves for at least a couple of hours. I had moved my bags into Billie Joe's room, and shoved them in to corner so they wouldn't get in the way. We had macaroni cheese for dinner, which Billie Joe 'cooked' so I fixed up dessert. I made two banana sundaes. Ok, so maybe I have a thing for bananas, but hey! It's my nickname, so sue me. I checked the clock, it was 9:54. Billie Joe and I were sitting on the floor, playing monopoly. I was pretty good a this game, but Rachel was always better at board games. I sighed at the thought of Rachel. I mean, I was mad at her, but I still missed her. She was like my family, my closest family. I shook my head slightly, trying to remove the thought of my best friend sitting at home, not the slightest bit worried about me. I bought Mayfair, and Park Lane, and won the game. I smiled at Billie Joe, and hugged him, trampling all over the game board, knocking off everything. I helped him pack up, and put away the game. I flopped myself down on the couch, and Billie Joe joined me. I rested my head on his shoulder, closing my eyes.
*******KYM'S DREAM******
I was somewhere I'd never been before. I walked, searching for at least a little hint to where the hell I was. I found a door, a door suspended in mid air, but couldn't see past it. I opened the door, and Rachel was standing there, looking at me, like an x-ray vision into my soul, deep into my mind and thoughts, like she was reading my mind. I walked up to her, and apologized, even though I didn't remember what I did wrong.
"I'm so sorry Rachel." I said.
"Sorry isn't good enough," She said, glaring at me.
"What do you mean? We've never fought before. We've been best friends for, forever." I said, confused.
"You're the biggest bitch I've ever met in real life, I'm glad you moved out so I don't have to put up with you every day." She said, walking away. Tears gathered in my eyes, and slowly streamed down my face. I turned away, and walked in the opposite direction. The door had disappeared, and I found myself in a desert. I started panicking cause I didn't know where I was, and there was no one or nothing for as far as I could see. I sat down in the sand, my head in my hands and cried. I couldn't hold it in. Rachel, my best friend Rachel, who always stuck by me, who promised she's be with me forever, is mad at me. When someone as close as that is mad at you, you just can't see any point of living. Suddenly, I heard something in front of me. I jerked my head up, to find Rachel standing there. She slapped my cheek. It hurt, I could feel it, and instantly woke up.
I jumped up, breathing heavily. I was on the couch, lying on Billie Joe who was still asleep. I was covered in cold sweat, and there were tears gathering in my eyes. Although it wasn't real, I just witnessed my best friend hurt me, and I couldn't take it at all. I quietly got up, and searched for something, anything sharp. I found a knife in the kitchen, held it to my wrist, and sliced it. I made a cut, not too deep as to kill myself, but deep enough to cause blood from arm to leak onto the floor, causing a huge, think, read puddle. I sliced once again, and dropped the knife. I cleaned up the mess I made, waited for the wounds to stop bleeding, and went back to sleep.
+-*-+ Billie Joe's POV +-*-+
I slowly opened my eyes, still very tired. I was lying down on the couch, with Kym on top of me, still asleep. I had my arms around her, she was resting her head on my shoulder, and had her hands on my chest. I shifted slightly, and closed my eyes again. I guess I managed to drift off, cuz I was later woken by Kym kissing me. I kept my eyes closed, but kissed her back. I felt her smile, and lay back down on top of me. I opened my eyes, and hugged her tight.
"Good morning!" I said.
"Great way to wake up isn't it?" she said, giggling.
"Yeah, I love it." I said, playing with her hair. She glanced at her watch.
"Damn it, I have to go to work now," she said, getting up, and walking to the bedroom.
"Then why are you going there?" I asked, confused.
"To get changed! Duh!" she said, closing the door.
