She's my Fucking Daughter! I Have to See Her!, chapter 16
I got up and walked to Scarlet. I brushed a bang back behind her ear. Her big, brown eyes shined from the light of the ceiling fan. "S-Scarlet?"I managed to get out. She nodded and smiled that big, tooth-filled grin that I remember from the night at the concert. She jumped into my arms and I held on tight. I felt like never letting her go.
***Nobody's POV***
I hugged my dad. It feels a little weird to be saying that. It feels good at the same time, though.
Mike and Tre walked out and Billie led me to the couch. I sat down next to him. "I can't believe this," he said smiling, tears rolling down his cheeks, "My daughter."
I smiled. "I want to ask you something, uh, should I call you 'Dad?'"I said.
"I think so."
"It feels a little weird."
He shrugged. "So what's the question?"
I bit my lip and looked from the couch to his big, green eyes. I let out a breath.
"Why did you leave?"
***Billie's POV***
I felt my face turn pale. "Uh, well, I uh, you see, uh," was all I could get out. How do you answer a question like that?
I didn't want to answer her, but, I had to. Her big eyes were digging deep into mine. I felt my heart sink. "Well,"I said after taking a very deep breath, "I was only thirteen."
"So?"
"So, I was too young to be a parent."
"That never stopped Lizz."
"Well..."
"Quit stalling."
I grabbed her hand and looked down at it. On her right ring finger was the ring that I had sent her last Christmas. Just a simple golden band with a small diamond on it. I smiled. She had kept it.
"Look," I said, "Your mother and I loved each other. She decided to have you. Plus, I had a famlily back home in California. I couldn't let my mother know that I knocked up a chick when I was only thirteen!"
"Yeah well that 'chick' just so happens to be my mother!"
"Was that the wrong thing to say?"
"Yep."
"Sorry."
She let go of my hand and stood up. She began slowly pacing the floor. "So," she said after about five minutes of akward silence,"What happens now?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, are you just going to go back home to California and leave me here alone?"
"What about Lizz?"
"I kinda left her."
"Well, then. It looks like your coming with me."
I smiled at her. Her face lit up. "Seriously?" she asked, grinning from ear to ear. I nodded as she ran over to collapse in my arms.
"But wait," she said, looking up at me, "What'll Adrienne do?"
I slapped my hand on my forehead. Shit! I had forgotten about her. Oh well, she'll find out when I walk through the door with Scarlet. "She'll be fine with it," I said. Scarlet nodded. "After a while," I added under my breath.
***
Scarlet stayed with me that night. We both crashed on the couch and watched the news until we both fell unconscious. The next morning we took our flight to Berkely. We sat together with Tre and Mike behind us. They seem to be getting along pretty well with Scarlet. She's a good kid. She was shy the first few weeks living with me, Adi, Joey, and our brand new baby boy, Jakob. But after a while, she became used to it. She may feel a little strange around people when we're on the red carpet, but there's one thing that she can always be sure of: No one will ever call her "Nobody" again.
Because she sure as hell isn't one anymore.
