A Day On The Green, chapter 1
‘Tre, you have no chance with her. Trust me’, Billie Joe told him sitting by his friend. The two of them looked up to the front of the class where Laura, the most popular girl in the school, was sitting. Tre let his eyes trace around her frame. She was practically perfect, there wasn’t one thing he could find wrong with her.
‘Billie Joe I know I don’t’, Tre snapped coming back to reality from his day dream, ‘But I can always imagine cant I?’, he asked, looking across at his friend. Billie Joe looked up at him apologetically. His head was rested down on his desk, and he was counting the minutes until the end of the day. There was nothing worse than science class, last period on the Thursday when you knew that the next day, same time. You would have a test you’d have to sit thought.
‘I guess’, Billie Joe mumbled, closing his eyes, trying to block out most of the teaching that was happening at the front of the class.
‘You guess what?’, Mike asked, coming back from a break and sitting on the other side of Tre. He noticed how his friend was staring oddly at this girl on the far side of the room.
‘Oh her. Ohhhhh...... Tre for Laura’, he whispered, letting out a laugh in the end. Tre looked up at him, almost giving him the evil eye.
‘Its not like that Mike you know it. She doesn’t even know I exist’, Tre told him, putting his head down on the desk. Mike corrected him.
‘Well she does actually. Remember, you told her you liked her and she said; ‘I could never go out with anyone like you. I couldn’t be seen with anyone like you and Tre well I don’t think you’re good enough for me’, he said, Billie Joe joined in saying the last few words. All three of them remembered that day. The day she took Tre’s heart and broke it, but Mike instead of continuing to tease, said something quite interesting.
‘Hey I know’, he said bluntly. The other two boys looked over to him.
‘Well, she’ll only like, really wanna go out with someone if they’re taken’, Mike said thinking about the use of his words, ‘So all you have to do, is date the hardest to get girl in the school’, he finished tapping his hands on the table edge. Tre rolled his eyes.
‘As if that’s gonna work’, he said pausing to think, ‘And exactly how are we going to find this girl?’.
‘We don’t have to’, Billie Joe told them smiling, ‘I already know her. Jason’s sister’, he let out enthusiastically and proud of himself. Tre and Mike exchanged glances.
‘I didn’t exactly mean the hardest, hardest, hardest girl Bille Joe’, Mike said, his eyes in shock. How could Billie Joe think of someone like that?
‘Billie Joe’, Tre said slowly getting his friends attention, ‘I can’t even get a date with one of the book nerd kids we make fun off. How the hell am I gonna get Jason’s sister to date me?’, Tre asked as if all hope was lost.
‘No come to think about it, we could talk to Jason and then he could ask his sister’, Mike suggested. Tre looked up and seemed to have his spirits lifted a little more.
‘Really? You think?’, he said, wondering himself wether it could work out.
‘Yeah, I’m walking home with him tonight. We could organize something and then you know he could talk to his sister for you’, Billie Joe suggested. Tre’s eyes seemed to lighten up a little more, with more and more enthusiasm put into each thought and suggestion, letting this faze be with them until the end of the class.
-Walking Home with Jason and Billie Joe-
‘Billie Joe, I’m telling you, Steph is not gonna date Tre’, Jason said outright. Billie Joe tried to talk the idea to him again. Again Jason said the same answer.
‘Oh come on, just I don’t know talk her into it’, Billie Joe tried to say convincingly.
‘Billie Joe, she’s my sister. I know her too well. She’s stubborn, childish and uncontrollable. She’s not going to do it’, he said flatly. Billie Joe let his head drop. He had tried, but he knew Tre wouldn’t be happy with what he would say to him the next morning. That’s when Jason, said the most perfect words Billie Joe’s ears could hear.
‘Why don’t you guys come over for like a study class tonight? You can ask her yourself then’, Jason suggested, ‘Anyways we have a band practise tonight as well, and there’s the ones on the weekend. Maybe if you spend enough time over, you might be able to talk her into it’, he finished. Billie Joe hugged him with joy, but not so he got the wrong idea.
‘Jason, you are brilliant. I’ll see you at your place tonight with Tre and Mike. Oh and make sure your sisters there’, he said, rushing home as quickly as he could so he could make an important phone call.
‘Okay, cya Billie Joe’, Jason yelled out, watching the eager teenage boy run home.

‘OMG Tre is that you?’, Billie Joe screamed enthusiastically into the receiver.
‘Yeah it is. Billie Joe man, relax, it like you’ve had puppies’, Tre laughed.
‘No better’, Billie Joe told him, ‘You, Mike and I are going for a science study session at Jason’s place tonight’...
