A Day On The Green, chapter 2
-Jason’s Place-
Tre walked up the footpath that led to Jason’s house slowly. He wondered if this idea was actually worth it. He lifted his fist gently to knock on the thick door. Jason answered.
‘Hey Tre, you came’, he said, letting Tre walk into the house.
‘Yeah, yeah’, Tre said nervously stepping inside. He didn’t know why he should be feeling like this. He had been here millions of times. He guessed that it was just because well it was a moment of faith to whether Steph would help him out or not.
‘Hi Tre’, he heard as he walked into the lounge. It was coming from Steph. Jason’s little sister. Tre smiled weakly back and said hi.
‘Oh god this is not a good idea’, he told himself taking a seat on the couch, where he usually sat while he was over here.
‘Okay, so I don’t see why we need to study this. Actually I don’t see why I should he quizzing you. You guys know this back to front’, She said, putting a text book down.
‘No. Oh come on Steph’, Billie Joe said trying to get her to keep going. He knew if he did she might actually stay a little more. She glanced reluctantly at him smiling.
‘There’s something going on’, she said. Her words making all of them jump. It was hard enough for Jason to convince her to stay here the night as she could have been out on the town. Now they had to fake as if the study session was real.
‘Why would something be going on?’, Mike asked her, trying to lead her mind astray.
‘Well Jason was like eager to keep me here tonight.......and like all of you are here’, she let out, looking at each of them in turn. Billie Joe and Tre seemed to look at eachother, not wondering if it was going to be such a great plan. Steph let her eyes; lay on Tre for a moment. She noticed him start to fidget at the way she looked at him. He tried to stop as hard as he could, but there was no use, he was getting worse.
‘Okay, Okay. We are up to something’, Billie Joe let out almost breaking into a sweat. He couldn’t keep it in any longer. Steph took her eyes off of Tre and let them glue to Billie Joe.
‘And what are you all exactly up to?’, she asked, rubbing her lips together. She fixed her knee-highs and converse as she continued to stare at him.
‘Ahh, well we kinda need you to’, Billie Joe said being cut off by Tre.
‘Steph its nothing, its just’, Tre managed to get out being cut off my Jason.
‘Just tell her, I’ve gone through so much to keep her here’, Jason told them, getting even more timid and nervous being around his sister. Silence hit the room.
‘Well then tell me’, Steph said, watching them now all closely. The four boys exchanged glances again between eachother.
‘How about over a board game?’, Jason suggested, letting the tension fall. Steph stared up at him confusingly.
‘Jason I gave up playing them 4 years ago’, she told him, getting up to leave the room.
‘No wait’, Mike said stopping her from leaving, ‘If you go, you wont find out what we’re keeping from you’, he explained to her, pleased with the look on her face when she walked back and sat down at the coffee-table. She looked over at Jason exasperatingly.
‘Well then.......Get a board game’, she told him, in a kind of order tone. Jason did so and the 5 of them sat down to talk about what it was that had to be spoken about.
-An Hour Later *half way though Jumanji*-
‘So you want me to date you so you can get some cheerleading blonde airhead?’, Steph asked Tre putting her card down on the board. He nodded nervously and looked up at her.
‘Buddy, listen. If it was someone I like, kinda had respect for I might, but her, what do you see in her anyway? Don’t you think you should ahh, try go for some kinda, musician type grungy chick instead?’, she asked him, rolling the dice in her hand. Tre wanted so badly to say how he thought Laura was perfect, but he knew it wasn’t going to help his situation.
‘Why don’t you just help him?’, Jason told his sister, picking up a spare card and rolling. Steph looked at him, rolling her eyes.
‘Because Jase, I’ve been put through too much hell by those girls, and I’m not gonna drop all my hatred and dislike of them to help someone who’s too scared to ask one of those things or whatever you wanna call them out’, she told him, shifting in her seat.
‘No actually, he has tried asking her out’, Mike said, keeping his eyes down.
‘What did she say?’, Steph asked, looking back at Tre. She saw him become uncomfortable about the question, but still she wanted an answer.
‘Don’t worry about that’, Billie Joe told her, ‘Just tell us, are you gonna help Tre or not?’, he asked, finally going to put an end to this discussion.
‘I’m gonna need more convincing than this guys if you want my help’, she said, standing up.
‘As for this now though, you guys can keep playing. I’ve got a band practise I got to get to’, she said, grabbing a jacket before she left the house, not before saying good bye to them all.
‘See Billie Joe, this was pointless’, Tre let out, leaning back on his hands; ‘I should just keep day dreaming’.
‘No listen, she said all she needed was a little more convincing......and well convincing......I’m the right guy for that’, he said..
