A Day On The Green, chapter 7

‘Okay you ready to go?’, Tre asked Steph walking into the lounge room where he knew she was waiting.
‘Wow, you look’, Steph managed to get out looking up at him. His dirty, unshaven grunge look was perfect.
‘Look..’, Tre continued her sentence noticing she had paused. Steph shook her head and looked back up.
‘You look good, I mean, you look, sweet’, she managed to get out in a mumble of confusion. Tre looked over at where Mike, Billie Joe and Jason where, all hiding in the kitchen. He tried to get them to help him out.
‘So are we going?’, Steph asked mindlessly get up of the couch. She looked over at Tre and watched him become all nervous. She loved having the power to do that to people when she wanted to. Tre avoided her eyes for a while thinking that they might just pierce though him.
‘Yeah let’s go’, he said, putting his hand out for her. She took it and let Tre lead her away.

-In the Cinemas at Crown-

‘So what’s it about her that you like so much?’, Steph asked Tre as they sat waiting for the film to start. They in boredom had already polished off everything they had brought in with them in the half hour they had been waiting in the dark room.
‘It’s just something I don’t know. I can’t explain it’, he told her, looking over at her. Steph smiled and slid down in her seat.
‘You know, you’re lucky you’ve found something you think is perfect’, Steph told him, fiddling with her shirt.
‘What do you mean?’, Tre asked her lifting up the arm rest so they could talk properly. Steph seemed not to notice and kept talking.
‘Well, there hasn’t been a guy out there for me who’s like PERFECT, that’s why I’ve had this tag put on me understand’, she asked. Tre nodded to show her did understand and let her keep talking.
‘But well I don’t know there’s been this one guy. He’s kinda perfect. I’ve known him long enough like and all, just thing is...... well I kinda know he doesn’t have any feelings for me what-so-ever’, she finished off.

‘Have you tried telling him?’, Tre asked her. Steph shook her head.
‘No there’s no point, I know what he’s answer would be’, she said letting her head drop.
‘Awe don’t be like that’, Tre told her putting an arm around her, ‘Cheer up’, he said trying to be a little enthusiastic. Steph laughed and let herself fall against him.
‘Yeah sure, sure whatever’, she let out, trying to find the arm-rest to separate them again.
‘No don’t be like that’, Tre said stopping her from putting the rest down, ‘Listen you’re helping me, so the least I can do is help you get what you want’, he told her, keeping his arm around her.
‘No trust me there is no use. By the time I help you the guy will be gone’, she told him, resting her head down on him, as the cinema dimmed its lights and the movie started.

-Other Side of the Cinema-

‘Hey Laura, look there’s that freak that asked you out last term’, Laura’s boyfriend Jared said, laughing as he kissed her on the cheek. Laura turned and saw Tre and Steph sitting a little too closer for friends comfort with eachother. She winced and turned back round to watch the movie.
‘Yeah well he’s a freak, why should I care?’, she asked aloud, to her group of followers as she started to plot a revenge plan in her head.

-After the movies on the way home-

‘I really enjoyed tonight’, Steph said, as she and Tre were making their way down Grevel Street. Tre kept his hand tightly around Steph’s as he swung his arm a little to lose any nervousness he had in him.
‘Yeah it was nice’, he answered her, as they came up the house gate.
‘You gonna be with the boys tonight?’, she asked, being her curious self.
‘Yeah. The girls coming over later?’, he asked. Steph nodded smiling. They stood at the gate for a while, giggling about the night they had just had before they walked up to the front door.
‘So, we on again for another night soon?’, Tre asked, smiling when Steph turned around.
‘Yeah, I guess we’ll have to’, she said optimistically. She took his other hand on her own and held then low infront of her.
‘So..’, Tre managed to say before he felt the tingling feeling of Steph’s lips against his own.
‘Goodnight Tre’, she said sweetly letting go of his hands as she stepped into the house.
‘Goodnight......’, he replied watching her walk away. He heard the footsteps of Mike, Billie Joe and Jason, creep up to the door where he was.

‘Oh My God, you have to tell us how your night went’, Mike said excitedly.
‘Why, there was nothing special about it’, Tre told them stepping inside the house, before he kicked off his shoes. Billie Joe and Jason let out a sigh.
‘Dude, after what we just saw, there has to be something special about tonight’, Billie Joe said, eagerly wanting a story to come out of Tre..
