A Day On The Green, chapter 8
‘So that’s all that happened’, Tre told them, explaining that nothing ‘intimate’ had happened.
‘Oh come on there has to be more than that’, Jason said, sitting back down on the couch with a beer in his hand, ‘Steph wont just kiss a guy goodnight like that for no reason. What did you two talk about on your date?’, he asked curiously wanting to know what his sister and Tre were both up to.
‘Nothing much, just well about Laura and then Steph told me about some guy she liked..’, Tre said being cut off by the sound of Jason spraying beer out from his mouth.
‘Steph like’s someone?’, he asked curiously once again. Tre nodded.
‘We spoke about it for a while and then well the movie started so we stopped’, he explained, ‘After that we didn’t talk about it at all’.
‘Did she ask to know what we were talking about earlier in the kitchen?’, Billie Joe asked.
‘Nope, didn’t mention it’, Tre said, twirling his finger around the top of his beer bottles neck.
‘Did you talk to Laura when you saw her there?’, Mike asked, seeing he hadn’t mentioned it.
‘Nope, the only person I spoke to was Steph. Why Mikey?’, Tre asked, putting the bottle down.
‘Oh no reason, just wanted to know’, Mike replied, picking up his bass again. Billie Joe sat quietly though the discussion tuning his guitar. He smiled ever so often to himself, taking credit for the help he had put into making Tre and Steph work for his sake.
‘I might go get some more strings from my bag’, he thought out aloud, putting his guitar down before he walked out back to the house.
-In the house *upstairs*-
Billie Joe quietly treaded past the upstairs rooms to Jason’s where his bag was. The last thing he wanted was a room of girls to spot him and accuse him of trying to eves drop on them for the guys. He quickly went in and fetched his spare set of strings before he walked out. It wasn’t long though before he found himself attracted to the conversation coming from behind Steph’s door. He sat down beside against the wall and listened to them, not exactly knowing who spoke when but matching voices as they went along;
‘Oh My God, are you serious, that’s so sweet’.
‘Yeah, he sounds like the most perfect person you could meet’.
‘Yeah and he’s all yours’.
‘No he’s not, he likes that Laura chick’.
‘Who the cheerleader?’.
‘Yeah her. Why?’.
‘No reason, just thought he’d be into someone a little different that’s all’.
‘No he’s practically inlove with her he told me’.
‘Did he say the words, “I love her’.
‘No he was just explaining how he thought she was perfect’.
‘And, just tell him you think he’s perfect’.
‘No I couldn’t, we’ve been friends since Jason, Billie Joe, Mike and he started the band’.
‘And what’s so bad about that. It will just show him, you’ve actually noticed him over the years of you knowing each other’.
‘No I can’t say it, the words would come out wrong’.
‘Well then write it in a letter’.
‘Yeah write it we’ll help you out, as long as we get to see what he writes back, if he does’.
‘Okay, I’ll write it. Awe you guys are the best friends a girl could have.
-Outside to where Billie Joe is sitting-
‘Oh god I have to tell Tre’, Billie Joe thought. He ran down the stairs as quickly as he could without trying to make a noise. He ran his way into the garage and slammed the door shut behind him breathing heavily.
‘Billie Joe what’s wrong, you look like you’ve seen a ghost or something’, Mike said asking his friend if he was alright. Billie Joe nodded, shook his head and tried to say words, but nothing came out.
‘Dude what is it?’, Jason asked. Billie Joe looked around to see if Tre was there.
‘Where’s the drummer boy?’, he asked using Tre’s affectionate nickname they have given him.
‘Oh Tre’s in the house using the bathroom why?’, Jason asked curiously wanting to know why Billie Joe was the way he was. Billie Joe ran over to the couch, and sat down with them, moving Blue over.
‘You guys have got to hear about the conversation I just heard when I was upstairs’,...
