Christie Road, chapter 2
"Well?" Billie questioned.
"Well what?" Teresa asked, narrowing her eyes.
"Do you like the Sex Pistols?" She shrugged.
"I like God Save the Queen and Anarchy in the UK but I don't know much else by them. I prefer stuff with more melody, like Clash." Billie nodded.
"Put on God Save the Queen, Mikey boy," Billie said turning to Mike. Mike nodded and swapped Cds, he looked at the back of the Sex Pistols one and skipped to the right track. Billie offered Tez his beer. She shook her head.
"I don't drink." He looked at her, wide eyed.
"Why? It gets rid of all the worlds problems."
"And it creates half of them. And it gives you a killer headache." She stated as an afterthought. Billie laughed and nodded.
"That it does do." He said simply. Suddenly a phone went off and all three guys looked at Tez. She pulled her phone out of her pocket and looked at the screen, "CHLOE" read the caller ID. She sighed and flipped it opened.
"Hey Clo, how's you?"
"Hey babes, I'm good. What you up to?"
"Oh... erm... not much... I'm in a railcart with three guys."
"Tez... your not... your not... "
"Of course not you sick minded freak, I only just met them!" Teresa yelled at Chloe's unsaid suggestion of a foursome. Chloe laughed.
"Well anyway, I have some fucking brilliant news!"
"Yeah what?" Teresa looked at her nails, her black nail varnish was coming off, damn.
"I met the hottest guy last night at that gig. He was in the band, he was the drummer and I GOT HIS NUMBER!" She screamed. Teresa held the phone a foot away from her ear.
"God dude, chill. Wicked. So you gonna see him again?"
"Hopefully. He said he'd call me."
"Wicked. Well I have news of my own."
"What?"
"I am officially homeless," Teresa stated indifferently. There was silence on the other end of the phone.
"What?" Chloe whispered after a minute or two. "He kicked you out didn't he? That no good son of a bitch, he deserves to burn in hell and... "
"No, it wasn't him actually," Teresa interrupted. "It was mum, though he made the excuse for her to do it."
"Well, I'll come to you, where are you?"
"Christie Road."
"Okies, see you in five!"
"Okay, bye hun,"
"Bye" Teresa hung up.
"My mates gonna be here in a minute," she said.
"Cool, what's she called?"
"Chloe." Tre looked at her, his eyes wide suddenly.
"What does she look like?" he asked.
"Erm, red hair, quite tall. Erm, frekles, pretty."
"Did she go to a gig last night?"
"Yeeeees. Wait... hang on... your not... .the drummer of the band that played last night are you?"
"Uhuh,"
"Holy mother of Jesus. What do you think of her then?"
"Your mate?" Teresa nodded. "She hot, and sweet, I like her."
"Good. She don't need to be screwed around." Teresa stated and then leant back on the couch, only to find Billie's arm was resting on the back of the couch. She ignored it and began to study Tre.
"Dude, stop looking at me," Tre said after a couple of minutes, "It's freaking me out."
"I guess you just about fit the boyfriend bill."
"What?"
"For Chloe."
"Your overprotective."
"I know guys."
"Not all guys are rapists you know!"
"I know, but until I'm sure YOUR not then I have to be protective." Tre gaped at her. Billie laughed. Teresa could feel him playing with her hair. It made her uneasy. But she ignored it. Suddenly Chloe appeared at the doorway. She looked around and her eyes fell on Tre. He smiled at her.
"Hey you." He said.
"Hey!" She walked over and sat beside him on the floor, he placed his arm over her shoulders and she leant into him. Teresa was suddenly filled with jealousy at how happy Chloe looked. She scowled.
"I got to go." She said standing up.
"Where, you need to tell everything!" Chloe said, also standing up.
"I need some... some air," Teresa thought of an excuse and left the carriage. She sat outside thinking. Chloe always got the long straw. Decent family, boyfriend, intelligent, pretty. Tears welled up in Teresa's eyes. What was she doing? Chloe was her best mate. She heard footsteps and looked up. Billie sat down beside her. He looked at his tattered converse.
"I'm sorry, if I made you uncomfortable or anything," he said. Tez laughed.
"No, it's not that it's just, well, I always get the short straw. Chloe has an almost perfect life it seems, you know, nice family, boyfriend looks etc, but me, I guess I was just born cursed." Billie looked at her.
"You wanna know what I think?" He asked, Teresa shrugged. "I think you're the most gorgeous girl I have ever met." Teresa looked at him.
"Really?" She smiled slightly.
"And... and... I mean if it's not weird or uncomfortable or anything... if maybe you'd like to... I don't know... start... maybe... dating me?" He asked nervously.
"Dude you barely know me!"
"I'm a good judge of character." She looked at him. He was hot, she would give him that.
"How do I know your not just after sex?" She asked.
"I promise I won't do anything you're not comfortable with and we can take it real slow and everything." Teresa smiled.
"Yeah, ok." She nodded. Billie grinned. He hugged her and they sat outside for a little while watching the stars. His arm draped over her shoulders and her head on his shoulder.
"Hey, listen. You have no where to go, so maybe you wanna come and live with Mike, Tre and me?" Billie whispered into her hair. She tensed suddenly. "You can sleep on the couch and everything," Billie said hurriedly. Teresa nodded into his chest. Maybe life wasn't that bad after all.
"Well what?" Teresa asked, narrowing her eyes.
