"Hi, I'm June Summers..."

"... You might have noticed the writings on your closet wall. I was about to paint over it, but its sentimental value won me over." She sounded monotone but sarcastic and full of dry humor. "So, sentimental value to me means letting you know how big of an asshole Mr. Billie Joe Armstrong is. Not to face, but pretty deep down. So... Our parents have been talking to each other. I hear you're a girl my age. Going to Pinole Valley High. Well, I go there. Coming back to my FAVORITE boy, he'd always been... well... weird. Not weird but awfully nice. Not always... Just when you got closer to his friends.. Then he would stop at nothing to be YOUR friend. Then he'd try to do more because he used to get no action. Seriously. I mean, I avoid him now, I don't know how he is now, but I don't suggest he would ever change. So, I was going out with his friend Tre, and I suppose he saw it as an oppurtunity to get closer to me. And he assumed I wanted it. It's happened to girls who I'm friends with, too. But it didn't work on me; I wasn't charmed. I mean, I guess he's not so desperate now, but if you date his friends, he'll be fucking jealous. So anyway, meet me on the first day of school on the front steps... I'll wear highlighter yellow so that you can notice me. See you there."
April was stunned. Since when do people do that? Well, anyways, she kind of liked it... She thought it was... bold. But who uses that word? School was just a week away. Wow. So she slept on it. Dreamt on it... Whatever, she slept on a pillow, end of fucking story, but whatever.
***
April woke up. In the wrong place, pissed at her mother. She remembered the tape. She looked at the box that she left it on. She sighed. Can he be that bad? The sun shone harder on the clouds, forming a faint rainbow from the night's downpour. She threw her covers back over her and tried to fall back asleep.
Im-fucking-possible.
She had never been able to fall asleep after she'd already awoken. She peeked out from under her covers at her alarm clock; 11:27. She slept in. In her eyes, that was sleeping in because she got up early in Oxford because she liked it in the morning, it was all misty and foggy. She had a feeling that she might HATE the bright, sunny mornings in California. She thought back to June Summers. Her name was so sunny and bright and April Waters was so rainy. The two names were very different, yet so alike. It was pretty weird, but our darling April found it cool.
She got up and showered. Then she got dressed in something along the lines of three-quarter sleeved tight black and white striped shirt, black cuffed capris Dickies and a yellow belt. She looked at a black Ramones shirt and decided not to wear it. April had went to enough concerts to last her a lifetime. That was the period where she barely saw her mom and her stepdad. But things weren't good like that, now.
She went downstairs and felt her hair drying in a stringy mess. She saw her mom, making tea and biscuits. That is why she liked England. Yess! High-fucking-tea!, she thought to herself. Ha ha. I'm a loser. She skipped giddily to the table. Despite the sun, she had a feeling it would be a good day. She let her bangs fall into her face and sat in her chair. "Hi, mum!"
"In a good mood, today, darling?"
"Ehh.."
Her mom placed two teas and a plate of biscuits on the table. "Thanks, mum."
"Soo... Meet anybody last night while you were out?"
"Urrrr... Three guys. Tre, Mike and Billie Joe, but I'm sure there'll be more at school."
Her mom nodded, smiling. When her stepdad was gone, she really loved her mom. Her mom didn't tell her how and how not to dress. Her mom didn't tell her how and how not to speak. Her mom didn't tell her who and who she couldn't hang out with. Her mom never really told her what and what not to do. Her mom listened to her. Then again, her stepdad tried to control her every move.
"Mum," she started. Her mom looked up at her, "Well, you know that I'm not too fond of Will...? Well, sorry but I was hoping you could maybe do something about that...?"
"April, Will is harmless."
"Mom, I understand he's nice to you, but did you take time to look at MY situation with him? Do you call hitting me every time I do something slightly wrong harmless. Mum, are you blind?"
Margaret exhaled. "I'm sorry. I never took time to look at it your way. Look, April... I'll talk to him and see what I can do, okay? If it still keeps going, then, we'll divorce"
April hid her excitement. It was manipulative, but it had to be done. For everyone's sake. Her mother always seemed to pick the wrong guys.
Drrrrrrring! Drrrrrring!
"I'll get it," April said and got up. "Hel-lo?"
"Hi, April."
"Oh, hi Tre. What's up?"
"Just wondering if you were doing anything today, maybe you wanted to hang with me and the guys?"
"Oh let me ask my mum if we're doing anything...Mum?" Margaret looked up, "What are our plans?"
"Just moving in."
"Is it okay if I go out?"
"Sure."
"Okay. I can come," she said into the phone.
"Okay, good. We'll come on our bikes. Ten minutes? 18 Winter Court? Gosh... My ex-girlfriend used to live there. Anyways, be there in ten. Fifteen tops."
"Yep. See ya."
She hung up. "Same boys want to hang out. I'll just go find my purse."
"You got money?"
"Yeah."
"Enough?"
"Yeah."
"Do you need more?"
"No."
"Ahh... Yes you do." She placed a twenty-dollar bill in April's hand. She shrugged and flew up the stairs. She searched in a box with clothes written on it. Not there. Then a box with shit written on it. Not there. Then a box with <shit pt.II[/i] written on it. Not there. Shi-itttt. Then a box with books written on it. What? I don't read books. But she opened it anyway and wouldn't you know it. It was there.
"Aprillllllll!!!!"
"Shit, they're here." she mumbled as she put her eyeliner on messily then sticking it into her purse and running down the stairs just to find Tre, Mike and Billie Joe chatting with her mother. "Oh! Hi April!" Billie Joe said and stared at her. She looked at the other boys; they were staring at her, too.
"Okay, boys. I know I have a beautiful daughter but be careful with her," April sniggered. I have a weird mom. She walked completely down the stairs.
"Okay, mum. I'll be back by 10. I'll call you if I'm planning on running late."
"Okay sweetheart."
April kissed her mom on the cheek. "Bye mum."
She lead the boys outside. They were staring at her. "What?"
"You just look so..." Billie Joe started.
"...CAN YOU SAY HOT?!?!" Tre finished. Best friends always finish each other's sentences.
Billie Joe looked up at her. "Sooo... you wanna ride my handlebars?"
"Okayy.." Billie Joe sat on his bike and helped April as she tried to get up.
"You know, this is pretty freaky," she said and looked at the other boys.
"Nah, don't worry, you're in good hands." Mike protested lamely.
"I hope so."
Then, when she was least expecting it, Billie Joe took off, smiling and giggling. She found it kind of fun and decided she should look past June.
Billie Joe watched her hair as it flowed in the wind and smiled to himself. He looked at the others, also staring at her. Yeah, she's hot. And yeah, she's on MY handlebars. He looked at her long brown hair that shined gold in the sun.

We're on two wheels, baby!

She looked back at him. He looked in her eyes, she was smiling, "This is actually really fun!"
He nodded. "Glad you think so!"
She turned back around and he looked pleasured. Crazy boy.
"Oh my God, guys, COTTON CANDY!!!" Tre yelled! "I love cotton candy!"
April yelled, "Billayyy Joe! Stop the vehicle."
He held onto her with one hand and pressed on the brakes with one hand so she wouldn't fall. She jumped right off and headed to the cotton candy stand as the guys watched her hips roll as she sauntered away. She came back with four of those paper things of cotton candy.
"Here you go, guys!" She said and handed them each their cotton candy.
The boys parked their bikes as they all went to sit at a picnic table, all the boys on one side and just April on the other. "Sooo.. April... What are we all gonna do 'till ten?" Tre asked her.
"Mmmm... You guys tell me?"
"We can ... go shopping...?" Mike suggested.
"Oh my God, yeah!... Only if you guys are down with shopping..." She said and put on her puppy dog face.
It was pretty much mostly Tre and Billie Joe salivating over her, not so much Mike. Although he had to admit... She was pretty hot.
