Angels Do Exist, chapter 7
"How do you know that song?" Kiara asked Mike. Mike sat back down to his noodles and shrugged.
"It came naturally," he said slyly.
She smiled and said, "Liar! I bet you practiced that all night just to impress me!"
He just sucked down his noodles and said, "You'll never know." She playfully hit him on the shoulder and went to go get Seth ready for bed since it was eight o' clock and Seth's bedtime.
"How do you do it?" Billie Joe asked while Seth was hugging him goodnight.
She just shrugged, "If I had a choice, I'd take care of Seth then go to school, there's no hope for me anyway," she chuckled.
"Don't say that Kiara! You can do whatever you want!" Billie Joe replied.
"That's what my mother said while she was chasing her dream! Look where she is now!" Everyone went quiet, Kiara spun on one heel and took Seth to bed. Mike sighed and followed her to Seth's room. Seth was in his crib and he couldn't find Kiara, he went to what could be her room, he was right. She was huddled up in a corner on her bed, the lights were out, nothing was bright, the only light was the light the moon shed on Kiara's face. Half of her face was dark, half light and no matter where the light hit her, she was still beautiful.
"Oh sweetie, everything's going to be ok, one day we'll go away from everything and everyone, me, you and Seth. We're going to have a two week honeymoon while Billie Joe takes care of Seth with his wife, we'll raise him right. We're going to grow old together, and we're going to have lots of grandchildren, we're going to be sitting on porch on our ranch home and watch them play out in the fields with lots of dogs." She started crying and while Mike was saying this, he sat on the bed and started hugging her as best as he could, sort of protecting her. "We're going to be fine, we'll spend our whole life together, and we'll never let each other go," he continued, crying himself.
"I just want to get out of here, away from my sister, away from my father, away from St. Jimmy, and away from the Jesus of Suburbia!" she said as loud as she could in a whisper.
"Tell me about St. Jimmy, and who's the Jesus of Suburbia?" Mike asked.
"They are one in the same, St. Jimmy is the patron saint of the denial, he has an angel face and a taste for suicidal. Jesus of Suburbia was the original man but was overtaken by St. Jimmy, a figment of his imagination but a person all the same. St. Jimmy doesn't know pain, he's a healer, and the Jesus of Suburbia was his first experiment. Jimmy is the king of the legendary forty thieves and he always calls my sister his 'queen,' but I'm his 'whatsername.' And this is just tales from another broken home."
"So St. Jimmy is the father of Seth?" Mike asked, Kiara nodded. "Listen, Kiara, I promise, I will never leave you, and that's a promise, I swear by the bible of none of the above, I will always be there."
Ahh, but Mike did leave. A couple of months later, Mike's, Billie Joe's and Tre's family had to move back to California. Kiara was heartbroken, claiming never to love again. Mike's heart was shreaded into a million little pieces as they shared just that one special dance to the one special song.
