The Time Has Come, chapter 1
I drew my lips away from hers. It was my first kiss! The feeling I had couldn't be put into words. It was graduation night, and our last night in the orphanage together. Tomorrow would bring more challenges, as we moved in together at the university in Sydney!
We slowly began walking back to the orphanage, reminiscing about how great our lives had been, the good times, the bad ones, and the downright funny ones. It seemed like only yesterday we had come to the orphanage, because of my father, who had tortured both of us, in similar time frames, in the same buildings. But on the bright side, if it hadn't of been for my lunatic father, we never would've met. Although we both did miss our mothers, we had gotten over that, now that we had each other, and we cared about nobody else in the world as we did each other. But there was one question I had to ask my father, and it was why? Why did he kill our mothers, and attempt to do it to us? So we both agreed on going to the prison once we were settled in at our new apartment in Sydney, so it would be a together thing, seeing as it had directly affected both of us.
When we arrived at the orphanage, we had to be very quiet; it was early in the morning as we were getting back from the graduation party. I had a shower, got changed into my pyjamas, and went to bed, only I couldn't sleep. I then heard a knock on the door, and the slow creaking noise as it opened. It was only Holly, she came in and climbed into my bed, nothing sexual, we just sat there and continued talking, until a bright light filled the room, it was the sun. Tears started running down both our cheeks, this was the end of our lives in the orphanage. It had been our home for the past 8 years.
Holly went back to her room and we both finished packing our bags, and took them out to the lobby. We were due to depart at twelve noon, which was a while away from now, so we went to the dining room, but no one was there, so we went into the common room and just hung out there until it was time for breakfast. When the time came we went into the dining room, to find all these decorations up, and a party for us. We burst into tears and wrapped our arms around each other. This had to be one of the happiest days in our life. Everyone was in the room, and they were all clapping and cheering for us.
We started breakfast with bacon and eggs, moved into some speeches and entertainment, and then went into morning tea, which was a big chocolate cake, everybody got a piece. The time was than eleven Am, they wrapped up the party, and we all travelled out to the lobby. Holly and I both saw something in the car park, it was a new car, and the staff were all in it, and they jumped out and ran into the lobby hugging us.
"This is for both of you!" they said, and we again, burst into tears.
Holly and I walked over to the car, and jumped in, they had already moved our luggage into the boot, and I reversed out. We tooted the horn, waved goodbye and drove off down the highway. They had even put all our CD's in the cars stereo system, right now Good Riddance was playing. We didn't talk for the whole journey; I think we must have been lost for words.
Finally we arrived at our new apartment in Sydney city, it was almost dark, and the skyline looked beautiful from this height. We had the furniture pre-delivered so we wouldn't have to worry when we got here. We unlocked the door, to our new home, and our new life.
