Ha ha, you're dead!, chapter 12

"Hey! Wake up!" a voice said and pushed me gently in the shoulder. I opened my eyes and looked directly into two big brown eyes. It was Jim.
"You said you weren't going to tell!" I said and gave him a look that could kill(if looks could kill).
"I'm sorry Maria, it was for your own good! Billie's dangerous!" Jim answered and helped me get up. "C'mon! Let's get away before he wakes up!" I pushed him away. "My own good? Dangerous? Me and Billie have been friends forever. He's not dangerous!" I yelled at him. Jim looked hurt.
"Well, I won't come back to help!" Jim said. "I'll help you or not help at all!" he said. I waved and went back to Billie as an answer. Jim snorted and left. Right after that Mike came. I don't think he saw Jim. Billie woke up and gave Mike a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
"Thanks for helping us man!" he said and gave me a sweater. "Now we'll be warm and sort of hidden!" Billie said and smiled at me.

"So what are you going to do now?" Mike said and walked with us out of the alley. "You got nowhere to sleep!" he looked at Billie who looked at me.
"What?" I said and started back.
"How about your place aren't your mum supposed to go on a business trip or something this weekend? Tre could help us sneak in!" Billie said and smiled. I'd totally forgotten about mum. I hoped she didn't worry to much.
"We could try, but the cops are probably around there. I live right across the street from you!" I said as we entered a grocery store.
"Oh my god! Billie! Maria! Stop!" Mike said and pointed at a poster on the wall. Both me and Billie stared at it. There were a picture of me and Billie together.
"Have you seen these kids? If you have, contact the police immediately." It said. "What are we going to do now??" I whispered. I felt myself panicking.
"Run!" Billie whispered back. An old man was standing by the phone looking suspiciously at us.
"Yes, I work at the local grocery store. I've found some kids here!" he said. I didn't get to hear anything more. I ran. Right behind me Billie and Mike came.
"To your place!" Billie said to me.

When we came to the street where I lived, we slowed down. It was starting to get dark. We searched the area, looking for police cars, but the coast was clear! We hurried inside my house. But to our big surprise, inside in the living room, mum sat in a chair, crying. She turned around slowly and spotted me in the door.
"Oh, honey! Your home again!" she said and gave me a hug. Then she saw Mike and Billie.
"What are they doing here?" she said and suddenly turned into this strict mum again. I didn't know what to say. I just looked down at my feet and mumbled sorry. "Get out of my house!" she said to Billie and Mike and pushed them out the door.
"No, please mum!" I said and tried to hold her back . It didn't work. "I'm sorry Billie!" I whispered as mum shut the door.
"You're grounded, and I never, ever want to see you and Billie together ever again!" she said and told me to get to my room. "You're never going to meet Billie again!"

Upstairs, Tre was sitting in his room.
"I need you to help me with something!" I said and told him that I was running away. "You'll help me right?" I asked and gave him the puppy-eyes look.
"Yeah, sure!" he said and called Mike to tell him to tell Billie to meet me somewhere. I was packing a bag with clothes and different stuff I thought we might need. I also took all the money I'd saved and stole a bit from my mum's purse.
"Billie said to meet him behind the bar. In the alley!" Tre said as he walked into my room while I was packing. I gave him a smile and thanked him for helping me.
"So, where you gonna run?" he asked and watched me take a sweater out of my closet.
"Anywhere! Away from here!" I said and closed the bag.

"Don't tell mum that you helped me okay!!" I said to Tre as he helped me climb out of my bedroom window. It was late. Mum had gone to bed an hour ago. I just had to make sure that she was asleep.
"Thanks, Tre!" I whispered and waved as I ran away.
