We Met at Camp..., chapter 2
"Your here! I thought I was going to be without my best friend for about a week!" someone yelled.
"I can't breath!" I gasped.
Finally everyone let go of me. I looked around saw and me that every one of my best friends was there: Dustin, Heather, Stephanie L., Stephinie C., J.B., Cat, Star, May, Nick, Mate, and Matt.
"Hey peoples," I said smiling. "Ya think we'll all be in the same cabin?"
"Duh, sis," Heather said, putting her arm around my shoulders. "We are inseparable."
I guess the reason we call each other sis is because we hang out so much. Well, let me tell you about my 'family'. Stephinie C. is my mom, Dustin, Heather, Cat, Star, Nick and Matt are my siblings. J.B. is my nephew and Heather is his mom. And finally, Stephanie L., Nate and May are my cousins. It's kind of weird but it's an inside joke. Many of the other students think that we really are related. It is very funny to play jokes on them. Like one time I told the whole school that I was going out with Nate. They actually fell for it. But then they started to call us mean names so we told them the truth.
"Hey, come on you, you got to put your stuff over here," Nate said, taking a bag out of my hand.
We walked over to the wall next to the door, after we put my bags down. We sat in a circle, it was pretty large, and talked about what we might be doing in camp.
"I heard that we get to ride horses," Cat said, she loves horses.
"And that we have to wake up at four in the morning."
"I heard that it was 5:30," I said.
"No, it's seven."
"No that is the time we eat breakfast."
"Yeah."
We debated for a few minutes. We were forced to stop because the councillors had told us to line up in two lines. Boys in one, girls in the other. Once we did that, we were separated into groups for the busses. Sadly, girls and boys could not ride in the same bus.
"In bus one will be: Heather Cory, Angel Matics [yes it is the last part in Mathematics, I couldn't think of a last name], Stephinie Clark, Stephanie Lang, Charlotte Kemins [me], Cat Black, Star Ward, May Kemins [yes she is my cousin, not in real life but in this story on this web site], Judy Brown and Lavender Brown [Twins], Brittney Kay, Mellissa Goody, Rose Anderson, Erika Anderson, Megan Anderson [Anderson's are cousins], Jordan Gold, Flower and Ray Arts [Twins], and Brittney Rose."
We all filed onto the bus.
"Great a bus full of Stuck-up-popular-blonde's! Well, 'cept us."
"And Lavender. Her sister may be a Stuck-up-popular-blonde but she is liked completely opposite. Remember how her sister acted last year when she dyed her hair black? That was so hilarious," May pointed out.
We walked on the bus and sat in the back. We made sure there were at least three rows of seats between our group and theirs. I was surprised when Lavender walked strait past her sister and towards us.
"May I sit with your group?" she asked politely.
"Yeah," Heather said.
"Adopting another child, sis?" I teased.
"Why, yes. Yes I am." Heather said proudly.
"Ooooh, I can't wait to see J.B.'s face when he finds out he has a sister." Star said.
"Excuse me, but what are you talking about?" Lavender asked.
"Well, you see, our group of friends is like our second family. Stephinie," I pointed to her. "Is our mother. Heather, Cat, Star," I also pointed to them. "Dustin, Nick, Matt, and I are siblings." I stopped to take a breath.
"J.B. is my adoptive son," Heather added.
"Nate, May and I are the cousins," Stephanie added.
"But to me, May is REALLY my cousin. Understand?"
"Yeah, everyone says that you all are really related.
"All lies." Stephinie said.
The bus started and the radio popped on. I recognized the song immediately. We all sang together, as loud as we possibly could, to Turn The Page by Bob Seger.
"Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playing' star again
There I go
Turn the page
Out they're in the spotlight
You're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy
You try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body
Like the music that you play
Later in the evening
As you lie awake in bed
With the echoes from the amplifiers
Ringing' in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette,
Remembering' what she said what she said
Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playing' star again
There I go
Turn the page"
The song was in the middle so it took a while for everyone to figure out what part of the song we were singing. Everyone at the front of the bus looked on at the scene of friendship with disgust. If anyone of us had looked over at them, we would have seen pure hatred in their eyes and fangs in their mouths.
