When I Come Around, chapter 1

Kellie stood outside of the door, holding her bags and looking anxious. After all, this was an awkward situation. It wasn't every day that she just showed up at Tre Cool's house.
Alright, so technically, she wasn't just "showing up" there. Recently Billie had signed Kellie and her band to Adeline Records, so Tre wasn't exactly a stranger to her. They'd met at a Green Day concert that Billie brought her along to.
But now that Kellie was going to be living in Oakland while working with Adeline records, she needed a place to live. And since she was still flat broke, Billie had set her up with living arrangements. Which just happened to be a room in Tre Cool's basement.
The door swung open. Tre stood there, looking tired, and his hair a mess, as though he'd just woken up.
"Kellie!" he said, a little suprised. "You're early....I wasn't expecting you until one."
"One?" she said, embarrassed. "Oooh....sorry. I thought Billie told you I was getting here at 11."
"Um, nope, he must have forgotten that part."
"Is that a problem? I mean...are you busy or something? Cause I can leave and come back at one if you want."
Tre smiled. "No, it's cool. It's just that if I'd known that you were gonna be here early, I'd have been...you know...awake. And I'd probably have showered too."
Kellie laughed. "It's okay, I don't mind stinky guys. I'm in a band with two boys, remember?"
Tre snickered and took some of her bags. "Let me help you with these."
"Thanks."

They went into the house and Tre led her down the stairs into his basement.
"Let's put all your stuff in your room. Then once you're all unpacked and stuff, we can go out to lunch or something. I'll give you a little tour around town!"
He opened the door to the basement room. It was a weird, small room, with a leopard print carpet, bright red walls with pictures of weed and drums in frames, a drum set and guitar in the corner, some chairs, a lava lamp, and a bed with Spongebob sheets.
"Hmmmmmmmmmmm." Kellie said, looking around. "Interesting." She giggled. "SpongeBob sheets?"
"Yeah, I thought they were kinda cool. I found them in my closet. I put them in here just for you! They're awesome."
He set her bags down next to the bed and smiled. "Sorry if the room's kind of....not nice. It was my music room. AND now its a music room with a bed! But I promise we'll fix it up and make it more Kellie-ish and less SpongeBobish and weedish!"
"It's fine for now. But yeah....it could use a little redecorating," she teased him with a laugh.
"Well, i'll let you get all settled in. And I'll go shower. Then we'll go out. Okay?"
"Sounds good!"

***
"Isn't this the COOLEST restaurant ever?" Tre said, stuffing french fries into his mouth.
"If you consider Burger King cool," Kellie laughed. Tre threw a fry at her playfully.
"Excuse you?! I told you I was going to give you a tour of Oakland! And THIS is where the locals eat!"
"Well, I will admit, being here with you is pretty cool."
"Aw." He threw another fry at her. "Alright, so since we're gonna be roomies, I want to hear ALL about you!"
"Ummmm. Sure. What do you want to know?"
"What's your favorite type of CHEESE?!"
Kellie laughed at him. "What kind of stupid question is that?!"
"There's no such thing as a stupid question! Now what cheese do you like?!"
"I don't know! The kind a rat does. You are SO random!"
"Nice answer! I'll be sure to stock the house with plenty of rat sex cheese."
"Greeaaat." She said sarcastically. "Alright, now tell me about you!"
"I've got a big penis. That's pretty much all you need to know."
"EW! More than I NEEDED to know, Tre!" She shook her finger at him playfully. "You dirty, dirty man."
"You know you love my filthy mind."
She laughed. "Yeah. I've got a sick mind too." She gave him a teasing look. "I bet your girlfriend loves your sick mind."
Tre's smile faded. He frowned sadly. "We broke up last week," he said softly.
Kellie was shocked. Last time she'd seen Tre, he'd been all over his girlfriend.
"O-Oh," she stuttered. "Um. Wow. I'm really sorry. I didn't know."

Tre gave a sad smile. "Nah, it's alright. I kind of knew our relationship was going downhill. She kind of didn't like my crossdressing habits. That turned me off from her."
"If it makes you feel any better, I think you look pretty as a girl."
"Aw. Thanks. And hey, on the upside, now I don't have to be lonely around my house. She moved out, and now you're moved in! You'll keep me company, right?"
"Of course I will."
"Will you play games with me?"
Kellie looked at him suspiciously. "Ummmm....games?"
"I'm a big fan of Candyland." he joked. "So what about your boyfriend? Should I assume he'll be visiting every other night? Should we work out some kind of 'rubber band on the doorknob' code so I know when not to walk into your room? I don't want to be exposed to any kinky sex in my music room."
"We broke up too." She smiled sadly. "Kind weird, huh?"
"No way! So we're both broken-up-ys!" He smiled at her. "Wow, we've got more in common than I expected!" He threw another fry at her. "You're gonna be a good roomie!"
