Waiting for You, chapter 2
Going down the street with his cup of coffee in one hand and a package in his other, Billie Joe made it just in time to cross the busy street. Not entirely looking at which way he was going, he kept on bumping into people coming the opposite way. Finally stepping onto the sidewalk, it just so happened that when Billie turned his head around, another woman coming the opposite way crashed into him. Instantly, Billie dropped his bag of coffee goods, which fell all to the ground, and spilled his hot cup of coffee all over his shirt.
"What the-"
"Oh my gosh... I'm so sorry!" Looking down, Billie stared at the woman who was rapidly grabbing his items and putting them into the bag carefully. She was Japanese and for some odd reason, she seemed to be very familiar. She had dark brown hair that was put up into a messy bun and a blue/gray windbreaker jacket with a gray sweatshirt underneath. My god did she look familiar...
Slowly looking up, the Asian women settled her dark brown eyes onto his green ones.
Handing the bag back, she grabbed her purse from the cement ground. "Please... Let me treat you to another cup of coffee."
Looking down, Billie pulled his shirt that was now wet away from his skin. "No, no it's ok... Actually it's my fault... I uhh... Wasn't paying attention to where I was going."
"No. Seriously I insist... I was heading in that direction anyway and you know you want another... I mean you probably only took a few sips."
"Ok... Ok fine I'll admit I would like another coffee-"
"Good! Lets go." Grabbing his hand, the woman pulled him back down the street again and together they started walking back toward the Seattle's Best Coffee shop. Back in the coffee shop, the cashier lady gave him a confused look.
"You just were in here... Back so soon?"
"Yeah... But I accidentally spilled it all over my shirt."
Cutting right in, the woman shook her head. "No... Stop being so polite... I bumped into him and it's MY fault that he spilled the coffee... So I'm treating him to another."
Smiling, she looked back at him.
"So... You know what ya want?"
"How about another café latte... What about you?"
"Oh I ALWAYS get their green tea frap... It's so delicious."
Stepping right in front of her, Billie pulled out his wallet and ordered quickly.
"Café Latte and Green Tea please-"
"HEY! I said I was gonna buy you it!"
Trying to push her way in front of him, he blocked her from giving the money.
Laughing, he turned around after giving his money to the cashier. She had a pouting face on and her arms were crossed like a little child.
Holding his arms out, he acted as if he didn't do anything wrong.
"Oh come on... I think I should be able to do anything since it's MY birthday today."
"Exactly... That's why I should buy and treat you to your birthday."
"But it's already done... "
A weird line suddenly came into Billie's head...
"I met her on the eve of my birthday... "
Turning his attention back toward her, she smiled and shook her head in disagreement as they waited for their drinks at the end of the line. Once they got their drinks in their hands, she mentioned earlier that she had to hurry and pick her son up. So it wasn't weird that she just grabbed her drink and walked quickly toward the door.
Holding the door open with one hand and the drink in the other, she tipped her drink slightly towards him.
"Hey... Thanks again even though it was my fault."
"Yeah... No problem."
Winking, she stepped outside back into the chilly air... "See ya birthday boy."
And that's when Billie suddenly remembered...
"Did she know, did she know before she went away. Does she know? But it's too damn late..."
