Waiting for You, chapter 3
God... How can I be so stupid.
After figuring out that the woman was a Japanese girl named Haushinka who he knew met many years back, he ran back outside and tried to look for her. Sadly he had no luck.
Going back down the street once again, Billie sipped his coffee and thought back in the past of all the times he spent with her.
It was when his band called Green Day toured Tokyo, Japan for a whole week. While exploring the unfamiliar city, Billie Joe met a girl named Haushinka at a bar. Both alone at the time, they started chatting and found that they both had a lot in common. At first, they both were sober but after a few drinks here and there during their chat, they began to loosen up. Taking their "chat" back into her apartment, they went beyond where it was supposed to lead toward. Hanging out for the rest of the week, Billie and Haushinka really connected. Sadly, when Green Day had to leave, they exchanged phone numbers and said their goodbyes. When Billie Joe got back from his touring, he thought about her but he knew that it would be hard to keep a relationship going from different countries. She had her own life... He had his. So they moved on and eventually found new special people to hang out with but still, they thought about each other for the next 3 years.
Stepping into his apartment, Billie looked around his home for the moment. He wasn't a very neat person and he was as lazy as a pig. Throwing his empty cup into the overloaded trashcan, he placed the coffee goods onto the kitchen counter and opened the fridge to discover he only had milk, ketchup, a T. V. Dinner and a few beers. Boy, did he need to go grocery shopping. Grabbing a beer, he opened it and took a swing. Taking off his damp coffee stained shirt, he threw it on the side. He was too lazy to walk over to the laundry basket. Walking into his small living room, he grabbed the T. V. Remote and turned it onto the news.
Flipping through the channels, he noticed that he wasn't paying attention to what was on the television but about his run in to Haushinka. Damn she still looked beautiful even though it's been years since he last saw her.
Two hours later, he decided to get up and start going shopping for food. Locking the door shut, he placed his keys into his jacket pocket and walked down toward his car. Opening the car door, he sat down and started the engine to his black BMW. Putting the car into reverse, he moved out from his parking space and headed down the street.
At the local QFC grocery store, Billie grabbed a cart and strolled down the aisles. Picking up a loaf of bread and another pack of beer, he looked around at all the food goods. Finally deciding that he was good for at least 2 weeks, he walked toward the check out line. And just as he turned the corner, he saw her. Standing behind the counter of the checkout line, she moved the food onto the scanner. Wearing an apron with the QFC yellow label on the front, he slowly started making his way toward her line. Placing his items on the conveyer belt, he waited patiently until his time was up. When she finally muttered a "Have a great day" to the other customer and looked up to meet Billie Joe's face, she gasped and pointed her finger toward him.
"You're the birthday boy I ran into earlier!"
Smiling, he nodded. "Yep... That's me. Small world huh?"
"Oh you can say that again." Picking up the loaf of bread, she scanned the food and placed each one into the plastic bag.
Staring at her hands that were placing the food into the bag, he finally got his courage up. "Hey, um would you like to go out for coffee again?"
Looking up, she smiled and tucked her loose strands of hair behind her ear. "That sounds great! I can give you my number so we can hook up later."
"Sure... Do you have a piece of paper?"
Searching around her small space, Haushinka finally found a pen and paper. "Here you are."
Muttering thanks, Billie wrote down the numbers she told him. Handing him his bag of groceries in exchange of his money, he told her to keep the change for herself.
"Thanks... Oh wait! We never exchanged names."
Billie looked into her eyes and smiled. "Billie... My name is Billie Joe."
