2,000 Light Years Away, chapter 4

----The next morning back at home----

Roxy picked up the phone and dialed Billie Joe's number quickly by memory. It rang twice and Billie's mom picked up.
"Hello?" she said.
"Hey, it's Roxy. Is Billie Joe there?"
"He ran away yesterday." his mom said.
"Oh my god! And you're not going after him? You're not gonna call the cops?" Roxy asked.
"Not yet. I'm starting to get worried though. He's run away before, but he came back the next day. If he's not home by tonight I'll get some help."
"Alright. I hope you guys find him. " Roxy said, her voice full of worry.
" Oh.......... by the way, if you hear any news about where he's at, think you could call back?" Ollie asked
"Sure thing."
"Thank you, Roxy."

Roxy called Mike about the whole thing, despite the fact that she was still upset with him. She had to inform him about his best friend's absence. Mike had no idea where Billie Joe had gone, but he knew he would be back. But deep down, Roxy had that weird feeling. She had a feeling that Billie Joe wasn't going to return.

---Out on the streets---
Billie Joe had woken up that morning at around 9 o'clock, awaken by an annoying car horn. He was soar and sweaty and really hungry. He needed a shower bad too. It was so gross living out on the streets. Billie needed to desperately find a place to stay. Like a hotel or something. But he needed money for that. He couldn't go back and stay with Roxy or Mike because their moms were good friends with Ollie and would send him home in the blink of an eye.

He took to the streets right away that morning, in search for a new store to play in front of. A store that would attract attention (The owner of the ice cream store yelled at him and told him he was driving away customers). Down the street was a music store. Perfect! He pressed his face up against the window and peered around the shop. It was must larger then most of the stores around here, and much more appealing to Billie Joe then something like a shitty little ice cream store.

Billie Joe pulled open the glass door. The little ring of a bell greeted him. The store smelt like wood. Like a wooden violin, or acoustic guitar. There was a wall full of electrics hung up. It immediately caught his eye. He walked over to admire them.

Billie was standing there for a few minutes when someone walked over and tapped him on the shoulder. He spun around to see a really pretty girl. She had medium, brown hair and was dressed in a scull tank top and red and black plad skirt with old checkered Vans and black fish net stockings.

"Can I help you?" she asked.
"No. Just browsing. I can't afford anything here anyway."
"Well that's not hard to believe." she smirked.
He rolled his eyes and continued to look around the store.
The girl who worked there was behind the front register, sitting in a chair with here feet on the counter. She grabbed a display guitar hooked it up to an amp with a big orange 'For Sale" tag on it, took the pick she had out of her mouth, and began to play.
Billie Joe walked up to her and watched.
"You're pretty damn good........" he looked down at her name tag.
"Adrienne."
"Thanks.......uhm....."
"Billie Joe." Billie said extending a hand. Adrienne gave it a friendly shake.
"Can you play too, Billie Joe?"
Billie grinned, and took the guitar away from her. He began to jam away, playing most of the stuff he new. He finished and looked up.
"Impressive. Can you sing?" Adrienne asked.
"Sure I can."
Adrienne looked Billie up and down.
"Hey! I know you! You're that one kid who played guitar and sang yesterday! That's awesome."
"Yup, that's me. Thanks."
"Gosh, you must have been melting outside!"
"Hell yeah. I've been sleeping on the fuckin streets too." Billie Joe said.
Adrienne leaned over and sniffed Billie Joe's shoulder.
"Damn! You smell like shit!"
"No fuck!" Billie Joe rolled his eyes again.
"Do you wanna come over to my place and take a decent shower? Maybe even grab a bite to eat."
"Sure. That sounds good."
"Great. I have today off. I was just checking by to make sure we had enough cashiers today.

Adrienne grabbed her keys, and Billie Joe followed her out to her car. It was a busted up rusty, blue convertible and smelled like gasoline. Billie loaded his backpack and Blue into the back seat, then hopped into the passenger sheet. Adrienne started up the car. It sputtered a bit, then rumbled down the road. It was quiet the for most of the car ride. Her radio was busted and there was no air conditioning, but with the top down (It was stuck down because that was broken as well.) there was a nice enjoyable breeze.

After 5 minutes, Adrienne broke the silence.
"So, what brings you here? Here living out on the streets like this?"
"I ran away." Billie shrugged.
"Oh, I see.

The rest of the car ride was silence. Adrienne would occasionally opened her mouth to say something but then closed it. The silence seemed to be making her her uncomfortable. Billie Joe could care less about the quietness of the ride. He was too busy admiring the breeze that was hitting his face.

Adrienne pulled into a small parking lot in front of a shitty looking apartment. Billie Joe followed her up a weathered pair of wooden stairs. She fumbled around with her keys until she got the door open. It squeaked open on its rusty hinges, loudly.

The two were greeted by the smell of freshly painted walls. Adrienne walked over to a little glass coffee table in the middle of the room to turn on a lamp. The inside of this place was way better looking then the outside. Although, the room was practically empty with just that table, one bright red couch, and one arm chair. There were two wide windows in the room which the morning sun was gleaming through and the walls were shiny and white. Billie Joe's foot steps echoed on the hard wood floor that was covered by a see-through tarp.

"Nice place." Billie smirked.
"Yep. Just moved in here two weeks ago. It's a piece of shit. Once I finish painting and decorating, it'll be much more comfy."
"Did you paint all this by yourself?"
"Sure did........ Watch out! Don't lean against that wall. It's still wet."
"Ooops. Sorry Adrienne."

Adrienne invited Billie to spend the night for three days. Adrienne had her bed and a dresser in her room, but the guest room didn't have any furniture in it, so Billie would have to sleep on the couch. But that was fine with him.

"Thanks for everything. If there's anything I can do for you in return, just let me know." Billie Joe said politely.
"Well, you can start off by taking a shower! You're stinking up the god damn apartment!"
The two laughed together.
"Fine fine. Bathroom is to the right?"
"Yup, to the right. When you get out I'll order some pizza."
"Cool, thanks."

Billie Joe flickered on the bathroom light. The bathroom was decent sized, and rather plain and empty like the majority of the house. He turned the nob to adjust the heat of the water to warm, stripped, and hoped in. It was great to finally wash all that salty sweat off. He rubbed soap lather all over his dripping wet body. It made him think of Roxy. He was imagining him and Roxy in the shower. She had him pinned up against the shower wall, making out with him. She slid her hand down his chest and began to fiddle with his dick. He ran his hand up her theigh and he inserted his erection into her slowly.

All this fantasizing was really turning him on. The next thing he did he regretted. He felt rude because this wasn't his own house but hey, he was only human! Billie Joe began to vigorously jack off, moving his hand as fast as he could, biting his lip and closing his eyes until he had an orgasm.

There was a knock on the bathroom door. He jumped, startled.
"Geeze Billie Joe! Hurry up, the pizza is getting cold!"
Billie shut off the water and dried his hair with a fresh towel. After putting his clothes on he walked out into the living room. Adrienne was sitting cross legged on the floor with an open pizza box on the coffee table. She handed Billie Joe a paper plate with and he scooped up some slices and sat across from her on the floor.

"So, what took you so long? Adrienne said. Her voice always had this naughty tone when she tried to make something sound perverted, Billie realized.
"Nothin." Billie Joe said, his face turning red.
"Doing that in my shower? Oh dear." she laughed, her brown eyes sparkled.
"Oh shut up!" Billie grinned.

The two wolfed down pizza and cream soda while talking. They talked about anything and everything. They talked about friends, rock music, guitar, past relationships, masturbation, food, family. Just about anything you could think of! Billie Joe and Adrienne were just so open with each other. It was really cool. Later on Adrienne took him on a long car ride and then to her favorite smoothie place by the beach. They hung out at the beach and watched the sun set casting a pink and orange glow on the ocean. It was magnificent! The two were having a blast with each other. They had become so comfortable with her that Billie Joe started to call her by her cute nick name he had made up, Adie.

The two got home at around 10 PM. Adie jumped out of the car.
"Race you!" she yelled, and the two ran up the stairs together. She shoved the keys into the door and ran in. Billie Joe pushed her out of the door way and ran into her bedroom. She ran in and he pulled her down onto the bed with him. Billie Joe got on top of her and tickled her stomach. Adie leaned in closer to Billie. Their lips were centimeters apart. They closed their eyes and were so close to kissing when Billie Joe pulled back. Adie frowned.

"What's wrong, Billie Joe?"
"Nothin." he sighed.
"No, there's something wrong. Tell me."
"Can I just use your phone, Adie? It won't be long."
"Sure. It only works on speaker tho. Sorry. It's one of those fucking wall phones. I hate it."
"That's alright."

Billie Joe dialed in Roxy's number. It rang three times, and then she picked up.
"Hello?" Roxy said in a tired voice.
"Roxy? It's me. Billie Joe."
"Billie! Oh my god! Where are you?! Your mom is getting ready to call the cops!"
"Oh no! Tell her not to! Tell her I'm fine and I'm living with a friend. Tell her I'm making money, and it's time to let go of me!"
"A friend? Who?" Roxy curiously asked
"Her name is Adrienne."
"Oh. Well......... you're not coming back?" Roxy sounded depressed.
"I'm afraid not for a long time."
"But.... but what about us?" Roxy asked, crying a bit now.
"Us?" Billie paused.
There was an aching silence.
"Us?! I loved you for years! And you knew, didn't you?" Billie Joe waited of a reply.
"Yes. I loved you too. All that time." she whispered.
Billie Joe's jaw dropped. He felt like he was going to throw up.
"Why? Why? Why?! Why didn't you tell me?! Why did you put me through all that?! Why did you date Mike?!"

Roxy broke down in tears.
"I don't know Billie! I wanted more attention. I liked seeing you go after me like that!"
Billie Joe raised his voice.
"Roxy, you ruined so many years of my life!"
"I'm sorry." she sobbed.
"That was just wrong. You never loved Mike!!!!" he said.
"I'm sorry." she repeated, still crying harder then ever.
"You blew your chance. Sorry won't make up for all the shit you put me through."
Billie Joe coldly hung up on her.

Adie was standing in the door way in one of Billie Joe's black button up shirts. It was like a super short dress on her. Sexy.
"So...." Adie sounded sad.
"You had another girl you didn't tell me about?"
"No! No, you don't understand." Billie Joe said. He sighed and then told her the whole story about his feelings for Roxy, Mike going out with Roxy, and the night Billie Joe had with her.

"Wow. She's so.... ugh! I can't stand people like that. I had the same thing happen to me, actually. He never told me about his feelings. He liked to make me jealous. Then when I moved to Cali he told me the night before I left."
Adie looked down at her finger nails she was picking at. Billie Joe laced his fingers between hers.

"Our loves may be gone, but we still have each other you know."
Adie smiled and looked at the clock on her wall.
"It's getting late. I'm going to sleep." she turned off the lamp on her nightstand.
She crawled into bed and Billie Joe crawled him with her. Her cheeks turned rosy.
"Uhm. You sleep on the couch, remember?" She told Billie Joe.
He gave her a naughty smile.
"Yeah, I know." he said, pulling the covers up.
"Good night, Adie."
She laughed.
"Good night, Billie."
