2,000 Light Years Away, chapter 5
It was 1:53 in the morning. Billie Joe had been living with Adie now for a month. Her apartment looked way different. Billie Joe helped her finish painting the whole house, and furniture was moved in. It was a warm and cosy living space now, and with Billie Joe there to help keep Adie company, living here was superb.
Billie Joe and Adie were cuddled up on the sofa with a big blanket, eating peanut butter and apple slices. Billie had his arms around Adie and they were talking and laughing.
"Yeah, I had some good times last year. Everything was perfect.........well, except my boyfriend." Adie said, wiping a tear from her eye from laughing so hard. She had just finished talking about pranks her and her friends had played on their teachers last year.
"What was wrong with your boyfriend?" Billie asked.
She frowned.
"He left me for another girl."
Billie Joe frowned with her.
"You serious?"
Adie nodded.
"That sucks, I'm really sorry." Billie Joe ran his fingers through Adies silky hair.
"Yeah. He was my first real love. We dated for a year and then he left me for some slut. Cheated on me then left. She used him then broke up with him a month later."
"Guess he got what he deserved." Billie Joe shrugged.
Adie reached for the T.V remote and turned off King Of Queens.
The T.V was the only source of light, so now it was nice and dark.
Even though it had been a whole month of living together the two had never acted like anything more then friends. The closest they had ever come, as you remember, is when they were close to kissing. But they didn't.
Adie sat up and scooted closer to Billie Joe. Now their faces were just inches apart.
"Billie Joe." she whispered into the darkness, throwing her arms around his neck.
"Adie." he whispered back in a naughty voice.
And before they could say another word, their lips met, slowly.
They softly kissed at first and then it turned into making out. Billie Joe slid his hand up Adie's shirt and unhooked her bra and felt her. His fingers ran across her nipples, turning Addie on. Adie unbuttoned Billie's pants and ran her hand across his penis.
----Back at home----
It was 1:53 in the morning. Roxy was still wide awake, sitting cross legged on the floor of her bed room with the TV on. She ripped the tape off of a card board box labeled 'Billie Joe's stuff' in big, sharpie drawn letters. Billie Joe's mom dropped the box off at Roxy's house that afternoon after cleaning out Billie's room and hauling everything in boxes to that attic. It was very depressing to everyone, seeing his stuff being taken away as if he was never coming back. Maybe he wasn't.
Roxy had told Billie Joe's mom about how Billie called her and told her about living with Addie. Ollie decided that it was time to let go. She figured that if he had a nice place to stay, he would be able to get a job too. He wasn't going to school now, and Ollie was concerned about that. She knew Billie had never really cared about his education much, but she was planing to force him to finish high school. High school was over now, so he got thorough most of the year I guess. He wasn't planning on going to college anyway.
Roxy opened up the box and carefully pulled the contents out one by one. First she grabbed something heavy and book like. It was a photo album. She opened up the cover and tears began to roll down her cheeks as she looked at an old picture of Mike on the left, her on the right, and Billie Joe sandwiched in the middle. The picture had been taken during summer vacation, a month before 8th grade. The three were in their swim suits and were sticking their tongues out at the camera.
Roxy smiled as more black tears streamed down her eyes as she stared down at a picture of her kissing Billie Joe on the cheek. It had been taken in the middle of 8th grade. Billie Joe was blushing in the picture.
She turned the page after page, playing each memory back in her head.
"What have I done?" she whispered to herself, wiping her eyes with her sleve.
"I ruined Billie Joe. I crushed him into pieces. Why do I have to be such an idiot? I ruined our friendship. I ruined it for Mike too." she sobbed and shut the book.
She sat there, crying. Tempted to look inside the box, she decided to reach in again. She retrieved a note book that she recognized from last year. He always carried it around him and wrote in it all the time during class until this year when he bought a new note book which Billie's mom says he took with him when he ran away. The note book was tattered, and the cover had a bunch of doodles on it with stick people on fire, funny face, stickers, and a picture he drew of Blue in a blue marker.
She turned to the first page. It read: Going to Pasalacqua
It was obviously a song. She read the scribbled lyrics.
Here we go again, infatuation
touches me just when I
thought that it would end.
Oh, but then again it seems
much more than that, but
I'm not sure exactly what you're thinking.
I toss and turn all night
thinking of your ways of affection.
But to find that it's not different at all.
I throw away my past mistakes,
and contemplate my future.
That's when I say
what the hey?!
Would I last forever?
You and I together, hand and hand
we run away. (far away)
I'm in for nasty weather.
But I'll take whatever you can
give that comes my way (far away)
Roxy sighed. She knew it was a song about her. It made her feel like scum.
Roxy read song after song. Billie Joe was very talented and deep. It made her feel so bad for being such a stupid bitch. She blew her chance and knew it.
In the box also was a sketch book full of really good drawings, some hand written music, an Operation Ivy poster, and some shitty bottle cap collection Mike had given to Billie when he was 11. Roxy put all the things from the box away and pushed the box under her bed. She turned off the TV and lights and pulled the covers over her head, still crying, wondering what Billie Joe was doing this very second. She wrapped her arms around a pillow, wishing it was him, and slowly drifted off to sleep.
